Is AI going to kill us all eventually and take over the world?

That was a good flick. Very appropriate message about the power of religion as well. This is the same Anthropic that thought the government using their AI was too dangerous. Apparently, it’s okay for them to control all knowledge, and a Federal Judge just ruled they can’t be arbitrarily placed on a ‘naughty list.’ -

This is REALLY SCARY, and should concern everyone. If the AI companies control all the knowledge, and then destroy the actual books where you can’t dispute their scans & possible adaptations… Wow! What could go wrong there? Duhhh… CRUCIAL QUOTE “Project Panama is our effort to destructively scan all the books in the world,” an internal Anthropic planning document said. “We don’t want it to be known that we are working on this.” [Hidden Content] -
Excited to see this game tonight, and get the season kicked off at Bulldog! I know the offense will score some points. But, I'm really hoping the defense is closer to LP norms, and a lot better in the secondary. They're going to be put to a big test. The people who know the players better than me seem to be pretty upbeat about this season. This game--to me--is really important for the D to step up. Sure hope they're not already looking to the Border Battle next week. If they are, Crawford's liable to embarrass them with the firepower they bring. From the interview with HIHSS, sounds like LP will have a couple kids who were good enough to start on Varsity as freshmen, got hurt and were out last year, that will be back this year. That may also have something to do with some of the optimism. Two more ‘starters’ back.

Crawford may be exactly what you think, and La Porte may be exactly what I was told—which is a much better offense and kicking game than 2024, and a better than expected defense even though they’re young. I’m going by LP players on the roster, and the former/retired LP coach’s take on the team right now. I haven’t seen them play yet this year.

I'd expect LP to use the first few series to try to establish the run game as usual. If they are able to control the ground, and get a lead, then we may see some of the new offensive schemes to mix it up. Not sure if they'll want to play it close to the vest and not show much before the Border Battle next week, or if they'd prefer to get the in-game work, and put stuff on film to make the Deer have to think about defending different looks. I do expect a 'pointy game.' But, I'd be pleasantly surprised if the D held the Chargers somewhat in check considering their youth, and historical weakness against the pass. If they show they can slow/stop the passing game of Crawford, my expectations for them will go way up.

Week-1 PN-G at Port Arthur Memorial Predictions
OlDawg replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in High School Football
Tepper picked PNG. -
I don't really know about them. I think they may be a little off. Last year, I believe they lost to a few 3A teams. This may be a big jump in year 1 at this level. Of course, I think Randle is going to have more issues with Angleton than people realize also. Angleton won't be in awe of them, and they're at a level now where other teams are going to have multiple D1 prospects. I'm very familiar with Angleton's talent, and they have it in abundance in key areas along with excellent coaching. While LWC is awesome, a one-man show is tough to do against other multiple D1's. Like others have said, when Randle won it, they had a solid QB, and another RB to compliment LWC. They don't have either this year. We really won't know about Randle--even after the SOC rematch--because they won't really face much outside of Angleton until the PO's. IC is depleted. FWD is solid. But, not spectacular. To me, there's not much else in 11-5A this alignment. Certainly not like 12-5A, or 9-5A.

District 9-5A D1 Thread 2026/2027

Out of reactions for the day. LMBO! -
Good write-up as always. Will be watching and rooting for the Cats until/unless we meet again. For my money, I'd predict: Randle Angleton IC FWD Not sure the gap between Angleton and Randle is that big. LWC can't do it all alone. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if Angleton and Randle were flipped.

I hear ya’. I’m waiting to see about the entire D myself. They may not have to be a juggernaut this year. Just serviceable, bend don’t break. This is the first time I can remember—and I’ve been watching the program since the 70’s—that LP actually has 2 D1 deep threats, along with a D1 commit TE, a D1 QB, and Sean Simon. Add in a K who is solid from 50 in, and a Soph RB who could probably start for many other teams. All at the same time. There will be some points scored this year—regardless of the defense of the opponent. Just too much to cover. How things will be shared will be interesting.
