As a result I spent a lot of time in both places. I got cousins that graduated from Kashmere. I attended one year of school at Lamar Fleming Middle School. Then I got homesick and went back to the Silsbee school district. Most of the basketball talent would go to Wheatley. Kashmere had that golden era during the Karl Godine period. I don't remember them doing too much more basketball wise before or since. Now the Kashmere stage band led by Conrad Johnson, that's a different story. They got a movie out about that, btw. These days the kashmere gardens area is lucky that Kashmee High School hasn't been closed down. I hate to say that, but it's true.
HELLO!! EXCUSE ME? I started my career at Kashmere coaching under my father. My dad arrived there from Madison in 1996, and retired in 2007...from 96-07, Kashmere won district 7 out of those 11 years, won 20 or more games EVERY year, made the playoffs EVERY year, and made four regional tourney appearances...SINCE my dad retired...ONE PLAYOFF APPEARANCE in 2013...By the way, when I coached there in 1997-2000, Kashmere was an ACADEMICALLY EXEMPLARY campus...Yes it has really changed since those days, but I was apart of a MAJOR turn around in that program...We actually were #1 in the state in the 1998-1999 season, the year we lost to PA Lincoln in the regional....On another note, I was the freshman coach as a rookie, and my teams went 33-1, 32-0, & 34-0, winning three city championships along the way, before I left to go to Ozen....Just thought I would throw that in there! ;D ;D
DV- You are NOT trying harder, as I previously suggested.
Awww Man!! ::)....I'm just stating the facts, while providing a history lesson to the guy!! ;D ;D -
So a winning tradition generates attention all the way over in Africa?
If Hardin Jefferson were making national headlines, and winning like Yates has won over the last 4-5 years, AND were located in one of the largest metropolitan cities in the WORLD....Yes, that would be possible.
-
i dont' know who recruits or who doesn't but i do know that a winning tradition can recruit in and of itself.
This is probably the best statement of this entire thread, and I am mad that I didn't post it first! >:( ;D
Yates wins 133-18. All starters had triple doubles and a new player who just enrolled last month had 41 in his first effort at his third school in three years. HJ finished the game with three players on the floor as the other 12 all fouled out. If they hadnt played such a weak schedule and had done more sport specific workouts, the score would have been 133-21.
Handlers huh? I wonder how many handlers HJ has to land a giant from another continent? I'm guessing......ZERO!! BUT...Yates doesn't recruit, right? ::)
Yates recruits about as much as Nederland does in PORT ARTHUR.... ::) ::)....They don't, right? Players from Port Arthur just SHOW UP, right? Same thing happens at Yates... ;)

Bluedove, stop being "politically correct"...You KNOW Yates is going to blow the DOORS off of HJ! ;D

Seriously...The next time you feel that way, watch who comments negatively....Its the people on here that DO NOT KNOW ME...AggiesAreWe, LAZEEK, Bluedove3, Bmt Soulja, Honest Abe and even the incomparable Stevenash (to an extent) ACTUALLY KNOW ME...They KNOW my personality, and know that I am not the guy that some of you THINK I am. ROYALTY? Come on, really? My family is well known in basketball circles, but ROYALTY? I was NOT being serious...At all...Some of you just don't think, yet want to attack like some rabid pit bulls! :o...Relax, please...Now, basketball GURU...Thats a whole other topic! ;D ;D ;D
