Jeff Riordan from Crosby #6 at slightly under $118,000

Dayton didn't turn their info in but I'm pretty sure Jeff Nations started out at $105,000

Interesting thing is that Caney Creek's coach is not required to win but Conroe ISD pays so much he makes $105,000 regardless, but is still probably the lowest paid coach in Conroe ISD.

Tom Westeberg at BH probably beat out Katy's Gary Joseph as the highest paid coach in the Houston area but his salary wasn't reported.

This is the hidden content, please

Nations did not start off at $105,00 or even close to that.

  2. Coach Stewart taught this town how to be winners.  Our kiddos growing up in his system were taught teamwork, dedication, that the team always comes before the individual and that through hard work anything can be accomplished, oh yeah, and "everyone understands pain".  He started with a bunch of young coaches that he groomed and taught how to be winners and how to bring out the best in each player, and with a group of players that were ready to breakout and were tired of losing.  In those players he had a core of young men that stepped up and learned how to lead, even when they did not think they wanted to, Rondale Durio, Zach Smith, Gene Tennison, Mike Mabry, Jerry Stewart II and the babies that year in 1996 Daquarai Pearson, Will Bowers, Sherman Thompson, Keithon Edwards.  He taught the players to respect the game and how to play it the right way.  I will forever be in his debt for teaching me these things, and being there for me as a person.  Those are the times and lessons I will appreciate forever.

  3. The Dayton Freshmen A-Team won something like 36-20, the scoreboard was out with electrical problems, but should be fine tonight.  The B-TEAM went over and played at Tarkington, so ease up a little bit LilTex, there were two Dayton Freshmen teams that played last night.

This JV team is extremely down talent wise from any group that has come through Dayton in a long time.  This group of Sophomores have never been on the winning side for a season.  The good news is, the sophomores are sandwiched between a pretty good Jr. class with skill, and an above average freshmen class.

  4. Everyone back off of the edge.  This is a hard week to play a team that is not very good.  After a very emotional win against a rival, CE king proved to be dangerous.  Dayton is very young and it is hard to get those kiddos to play at a high level every week.  It is a learning process.  I remember in the past some of Dayton's sloppiest offensive games have come at CE King.  This team will be fine.  Take a deep breath and let the coaches do their job.  Don't give the district championship away just yet.  Lots of ball to still be played.
  5. You can say what you want about Dayton, it really does not matter.  Your opinion about Dayton is completely irrelevant, just as mine is about Beaumont ISD.  Dayton is not big enough to make a difference in the overall state and the outcome of the success of a test.  Neither is Vidor, West Orange, Newton, Jasper, Port Neches, or any of the other smaller districts around the state. Beaumont is large enough to make a difference, just as is Dallas and Houston, and that is why I stated those things.  Maybe they will set the bar high, could happen, but do you believe that?  I would hope that you would since you are a Beaumont supporter and Thomas fan.

If you really think that the results of this new upcoming test will not be affected by the upcoming presidential election and Governor Perry, then you truly do live in a bubble.

So please rip away.  I am sure that everyone on this board is waiting.
  6. Sorry for taking so long to get back with you all.  Is Dayton utopia?  No, everywhere has it's problems.  But when the state of Texas cannot set the passing standards for the new tests that are coming out until they get the results in from Houston, Dallas and Beaumont (their tests will be graded first) then you can surmise it is to see where the passing standards have to be set and how low they must be set.  You really do not think that Governor Perry would allow for the state's new tests to fall flat on it's face, do you?  If you set the passing standard before the test, which is when it should be set, and the big districts fail, that does not look good for a presidential nominee.

So really I guess I mis-spoke when I called Beaumont, Dallas, and Houston ISD a joke.  They are really failures that will be made successful by a joke of a Governor that is trying to be President.

Is everyone in these districts failures, absolutely not!!!  There are some great teachers and great students in these districts, and a lot of them.  They just get overshadowed by the majority.

I bet I know where the response to this post is going!!!
  7. Congrats to Coach Hancock, his staff and players, for making needed adjustments and winning.

What do 20-4a and Crosby have in common?  They beat Dayton once every 10 years!!!!

Keep the brooms boys, not needed again this year.  You do realize this is a common theme?  Dayton being the only 19-4A team to advance in the playoffs.  Good job Broncos!!!!
