  1. A total of 10 varsity defensive players and 15 varsity offensive players showed for practice.  One can not like the offensive or defensive scheme all they want but with this type of dedication to the program it will stay in the gutter.  Some of these talented players have failed to grow up and understand that hard work and dedication beats talent that doesnt work hard and is only dedicated on game day.
  2. I'd take the old coaching staff in a heart beat.  I would rather get beat 42-38.  LaPorte runs the same basic offense but out of the gun and in multiple other formations.
  3. That's a lay up for that kid.  What's his longest, 53?
  4. I hope this game does not get rained out.  Someone needs to get the 0-12 monkey off their back. It has to be tough on a kid, and a dad for that matter, to miss out on their senior year together.  I saw that he is a tight end so it makes sense that he wouldn't come to Sterling.  Very few passes thrown in this offense so why come here. Kinda reminds me of a line from one of the kids movies.  Nobody goes to the zoo to see a crow. Sterling has talent.  Just look at what each of these age groups did at the Jr high level.  The growth and development just stops once they get to HS.  Until they get a leader that inspires confidence and requires a committment, then we have to resort to hoping for a win instead of playing to win.
  5. Ugly game for RSS.  Looks like coach has lost this team. Defense was blown away from the first to last snap. Offense was horrible and play calling was worse. Kids played their buts off but look to be set up for failure. Falls defense had 9 in the box. Considering 6 linemen with some double teaming, they are totally out manned. Falls defense played in the backfield all night just like Lee. Defensive front couldn't get any push so their linemen were on our linebackers at the snap.  Safeties made a lot of tackles. 12 games now doing the same thing with the same results. I do not see how coach saves his job after this turd.
  6. RSS JV 6, Clear Falls 26 RSS Freshman B 0, Clear Falls 12 RSS Freshman A 0, Clear Falls 14 RSS offense is ugly!  They look like youth football...nothing, nothing, nothing, break away run, repeat until stall or turnover.
  7. Sterling will be lucky to win a game this year.  Maybe clear lake was left in such bad shape that sterling has a chance.  QB is too short to see the field and cannot throw if he could.  With no threat whatsoever to throw, teams will leave a single safety to cover the one receiver and put everyone else in all out run support. Freshman and JV won so maybe they have something coming up?
  8. It did look like the offense put in some new plays and formations.  I even saw a tight end.  Hopefully they will be committed during the off season and get everything clicking.  There is not much of a threat to pass with starting QB. Defense was very aggressive.  Safeties are new and did well against the run.
  9. More of the same from 1st team Offense.  A nice run here or there followed by getting bogged down.  Scout team Offense moved the ball on 1st D.  Heard some in the stands loving the new offense.  They were disappointed to find out that was the scout team.
  10. I saw BH jr high run this and from an execution view, they ran it well.  I dont think BH athletes are naturally better than RSS.  But something is happening between youth/JR. High football and high school ball at RSS where there is limited commitment for the program.
  11. The little kid at QB is playing there for the first time.  He is really a HB and has no business trying to throw the ball.  I have seen him play before and he can make something happen in the open field.  They had 2 QBs alternating at one time.  Both soph but at least one of them could throw the ball and was big enough that he wouldnt get crushed.  Actually having a threat to throw the ball would loosen up the D and possibly generate excitement instead of all the puzzled looks when the ducks start flying.
  12. Nope not successful in taking them to the playoffs more than once.  I am not saying this offense won't be successful.  I am sure it could be as it is with BH.  BH has everyone buying into the system.  Is that because they had already had years of decent football and were just ready for a change and were going to back whoever they brought in and whatever system they would use? I don't know the answer here.  There has to be excitement for the program from the players and parents or this coach is set up to fail without really getting a fair shot.  Maybe the years of losing has soured everyone's commitment to RSS football.  And now a boring offense?  Hopefully they get it turned around.  Aduddell is fighting an uphill battle.
  13. #11 is playing HB.  He did alright and had a good run to get the ball inside the 1 following the hail mary on 3rd and 30. I hope the players and parents buy into the system or we are going to have a lot of bad boring football.  I have heard the grumblings as well around town and not just at the Sterling games.  Seems as though everyone from youth football, JR high and highschool are down and not very excited about their kids playing at Sterling or Lee for that matter. We have to have the players and parents behind this and willing to participate and do the work or we will fail.  The coach is set up to fail and it doesnt matter how good the system is or could be if they are not supportive. Years of losing followed by a boring offense doesn't create excitement for the program.
  14. Sterling D played as good on 3rd down as they did on 1st and 2nd.  We will see if that was just because of LaPorte mistakes or if they are pulling it together.  The D (unlike the offense) gave the crowd something to be excited about.  Did BH offense look this bad when they first put in this?
  15. Gentry has a stud running back and several good players that will burn you if you key on only the one RB. HM has an absolute stud QB and is a major threat running or throwing.  The kid at Gentry and HM both have speed and power.  The HM kid is a little bigger but both are very talented.
  16. There are some good jr high coaches. I saw Barbers Hill jr high play last week and they actually look good running this offense. They looked much more disciplined than anything I have seen at rss. Is the discipline and commitment coming as a result of the parents or the coaches or both. RSS has shown it doesn't come from the players.  For whatever reason the players are not committed. Maybe the parents/players just don't care or the coaches are not sticking to their guns. Or a combination of it all. These coaches have to be tempted to be lenient or forgiving when it comes to the starters because they have to find a way to win or lose their job. I just hope that in a few years when my kids days of optimist/pop warner/  ball are over and we get into the jr high high school program it is straightened out.
  17. It's the players responsibility to discuss it with the coach not mine. I am simply stating what I have seen and heard from players and parents.
  18. Yep, kids have missed the workout and film session since the Rayburn scrimmage with no consequences.  The number missing has been going up ever since.  He did recently boot 2 players (1 a starter the other a former starter) for fighting.  But as far as missing practice during the week or workout and film session after a game, there are not any consequence, especially if you are a starter.  He will tell the kids he is going to do something but then come game time he lets the kid play.  Not only does it show in the performance but it lets the other kids know there are 2 sets of rules.  I am sure a few of them may miss on Saturdays due to jobs but we are talking over half the team not showing up. You have to instill discipline in the beginning for everyone and be consistent.  We are not winning anyway.  He may as well start disciplining everyone even if that means playing someone with less physical talent but mentally prepared to play and committed to the program.  With this offense, you cannot get by with players that are only committed when they choose to show up. In my opinion, the defense is doing a much better job than last year.  It shows at the beginning of the game in their preparation and throughout the game in their adjustments.  Yes, they get down and worn out after having to bail out the offense but much improved from last year. The offense is another story.
  19. The Jr. High feeder schools are not fully implementing this offense so the kids will be starting fresh in 9th grade.  The skill players are not buying into this system at the high school level.  There is a lack of committment from the players and no real consequences.  Talent is always important.  But, they have kids miss practice and still play.  They have roughly 20 of the 60 kids show up for day after the game workout/film study with no consequences. This offense requires machine like reactions.  You only get there through study and repetition and we do not have that from most of the players.  I have seen teams with lesser talent beat more talented teams because they had a high level of committment and it showed on the field. These coaches may talk it but do not walk it consistently.  So a system that requires such dedication coupled with players that are not dedicated and coaches that do not hold kids accountable is going to lead to more years of bad football at RSS.  On top of that, you have coaches that are not putting the ball in play makers hands in the right situations.  Putting a receiver in a RB position or putting a RB in a QB position is tough...they don't think the way the position is supposed to play. I hope the Jr. High coaches do avoid this offense so that this hire doesnt set us back multiple years once this guys contract is up.
