There seems to be a terrible misconception that being the top rated football county in the state of Texas makes you more successful than your neighbors. I think the make up of each of these school districts has more to say about the success or lack of it than coaches, parents or facilities. Three of these districts are very rural, very sparsely populated districts. I don't think you need to look much further than that to see why football is at the bottom of the sports ladder in Tyler county. As far as Tyler county baseball goes it has always held it's own, I wish the youth programs in Tyler county were still affiliated with the Little League instead of Dixie league. There were some really good Little League teams over the years that came from Hennigan field and Gary Hennigan played a huge role in all those clubs success.

I grew up in Warren, not really what I call a small town more like a road side park! LOL Honestly warren is a great place to raise kids and have a farm. But the education is far better than what we have seen at BISD. Warren has always and will continue to be a stepping stone for all coaches searching for the HC/AD job. Good Luck to the Warriors! I don't know anything about Central Heights but they didn't go 21-1-1 without taking care of business. At this stage of the season you have to eliminate mistakes and hit the ball. Warren will pitch well and play pretty good defense, if they wake the bats up anything can happen. Good luck Warriors !!

I just got word that Mrs. Myers passed away this week. The area lost one of it's biggest girls basketball fans. I can remember the Myers girls playing at Lamar and my mom and Mrs. Myers raising the roof at every game. Prayers to the Myers family and to the Orangefield community, you will be missed.

The district championship is there for whoever wants it the most. Best of luck to all but I hope my Warriors or the hungriest. By the way, this Jeremy Roberts fellow must be a transplant. Most of us from Warren prefer to just let the boys actions speak for themselves.

I'm not sure how Coach Babin accepting the HC/AD job at Lumberton justified so many shots at the Warren Warriors but hey keep em coming. Especially you Eagleman we cherish your opinion. I'm not sure the Lumberton faithful will ever be totally on board with a single head man. Coach Haynes has had a pretty good track record in other places and Coach Credeur had the Raiders playing competitive ball a few years back as well. There is a pretty good group coming up in Lumberton and I wish Coach Babin the best in Lumberton, it's a killer district.

We are on the same page Mr Garrity. Surely Lumberton expects to challenge for the title if they dismissed Coach Haynes. I wouldn't think picking up the 4 spot would be considered a success story.

The bottom line is there aren't but so many proven successful coaches in this area and most of them are staying put. They just don't leave the WOS,Newton, Nederland, Coldspring campuses to go to San Augustine. I gotta agree with a previous poster, I never saw a coach win a state championship and be fired. May not be the best place in the world even if you have a successful season .Good luck Coach Murr.

Nederland ,PNG  and Central are usually pretty formidable opponents.

I'm sure Coach Babin will do a fine job at Lumberton and I wish him well. With that being said this had to be a decision that had already been made. I don't think anything was accomplished in Warren that would have helped his resume. I wish the Raiders and the Warriors the best in the upcoming season.

I was told they had him up last Saturday and sitting in a chair.
Those of us who have been around W.T. for the last few years and have seen him go on when just walking onto the field with oxygen was a challenge while keeping a wonderful attitude through all of his challenges.
Winning the state championship would have been great last year but that did not happen, God gave him something greater, he game him new lungs and a continuation of life. 
For all of us Newton football fans, We got something greater than a state championship.

I guess the Warriors should just stay home, they would get about as much credit. Fact is Warren has had a pretty solid little ball club ever since Coach Wofford took the reigns. I'm not sure how the second half will play out but I do know the boys will be prepared and will give it everything they have. If the rest of the district chooses to keep "handing" them victories I'm sure they will graciously accept the gifts :)

No I referenced a PROFESSIONAL stadium that played day games for decades. It was not the end of the world for them and it won't be the end of the world for a local high school to play afternoon games either. It's easy to say that all fields should be lighted but if you aren't the ones writing the checks then you're just like me, someone with an opinion.

I'd love to see Palin run again, she may not win but she would be a whole lot easier to look at than Clinton or Pelosi :)
