  1. Has this picture cleared up any after the scrimmages? I hear Anahuac has looked pretty strong in spite of missing their running back.E/C looked good against Wdvl but not sure they got much out of going against High Island. How about Deweyville, did they scrimmage Buna and how did it go.Warren looked better than I expected to be perfectly honest.Kountze also has to be reevaluated, while a victory over Colmesneil was to be expected I hear they also beat Woodville so I think they will be better than folks think they will.Havent heard anything about Hardin so I cant comment there. This is gonna be closer than most people think. So here goes my predictions ,remeber these and 50 cents gets you a cup of coffee.

    1-E/C

    2-Anahuac

    3-Warren

    4-Deweyville

    5-Kountze

    6-Buna

    7-Hardin

I think the top 4 spots here are very close and will depend on injuries and keeping kids elgible.I also think Kountze is way ahead of where they have been in the past.

  2. Controlled scrimmage: Shepherd 1 Warren1

    Game scrimmage:Warren 13 Shepherd 7

Still lots of kids hurt for Warren.Tonight they were missing their best running back and still have their linebackers out.The young guys taking their place are looking pretty good.My biggest concern was the O/line but they have played very well so far.Granger was on the money tonight.Overall a pretty good final tuneup for both clubs.

  3. Hitch, Didnt mean to ruffle your feathers.I was commenting on what I saw from Warren.Their first team played 15 plays and moved the ball pretty well. The young kids did OK.The 3 kids Warren had out were all district players (2 linebackers and a safety)they also started on offense.Such is life at a 2a school.I have watched several other local 3a schools and I think Tarkington would have a tough time in that district.Tell me what district your in and how you done last year and if I am wrong I will be the first to admit it.The Tarkington QB did have a good arm.Its early so I hope both teams do well this year.

  4. Warren looked OK despite having 3 very important players missing with injuries on the defensive side.Offense looked pretty sharp when the first unit was on the field.Esway is the best kept secret in east Texas .The young linebackers played well but all 3 injured players were returning all district guys.Tarkington is in for a long year in 3-a.JMO :!: :!: :!:

  5. I,M not sure Anahuac should be the 24aa favorite. The loss of their RB could devastate them as well as the coaching change. Not badmouthing any coaches just takes a while to put in a system. Also dont see Deweyville in the last spot.E/C has to be the favorite.

  6. Both E/C and Woodville will have some big shoes to fill.E/C has tradition and a good returning QB.Woodville lost a very good QB,RB and the best wide receiver in the area so they will have to make some major adjustments. Not sure who will step for the eagles however it will probably be kids that were varsity subs last year.Good luck to both teams.

  7. This will be the group that decided not to put in the work this summer. They will be easy to spot, they will come out strong the first couple of series and fade against strong teams. They will win about half their games due to superior talent and weak scheduling. At Thanksgiving they will be watching games and blaming the shortcomings on everyone else. They havent figured out what the WOS and Newtons of the world have(their is no OFF season)you have to work to win.We as fans will have to wait to put the names with the results. :!: :!: :!:
