Sure they can come back.It's a long season and every club will have peaks and valleys.Thats where coaching and character come in and HJ has a sideline full of good coaches.Going undefeated is nearly impossible in high school basketball.Of course it doesn't hurt when you have a Donahoe to go to in the clutch.Home court is a huge advantage in this district so don't panic.Silsbee still has to go to HJ.This district could end in a tie and I like HJ on a neutral floor against WOS or Silsbee.

I have seen the oilers several times this year and really enjoyed watching them but I don't see them beating BS by 20.Letsinger is a very good player but BS always plays great defense and very fundamental offense.That combination leads to close games.Heres an idea for Coop.Put your 2 cents in for WH vs BS in the playoff preview at the Montagne Center next month.West Hardin should win at home and that could be the tie breaker like Kountze and EC did 2 years ago.That would let lots of folks see how good small school basketball can be.Congrats to the Oilers on a great start,yall will be fine. ;)

Game got off to a slow start for both clubs.Warren turned it up a little in the second half and won 55-40.Warriors go to 19-3 on the season.Good job guys.

Warren-55 Buna-40 Sims had 12 for Warren,Andrews-10.

I think 2 of Tarkingtons losses are to West Hardin and 1 to Warren.Not real sure who they beat.They have a better club than Liberty.Can,t comment on Cleveland or Coldspring,haven't seen them.

Not by that much in Buna.I'll pick Warren by 10.

Don't underestimate BS.They will play good defense,will be fundamentally sound and very well coached.WH is playing well and have won several close games this year which is the mark of a senior team.If Letsinger is healthy this game is almost dead even,if not BS wins on their home floor by 6.

Just give West Hardin their due.Its hard to rank 1-a thru 3-a schools in the same poll.WH is a lot of fun to watch this year and they are a senior dominated club.They have worked hard to get where they are .Congrats Oilers.Sunshine Warren is a small 2-a school.HJ would have beat a lot of teams by 50 the night we played them,they were off the hook.Warren is 18-3 so they can't be to bad.WH is 18-0 hard to argue with that.Not any bad clubs on this list.

I don't know whats up with Liberty.I know they have lots of kids who could play but I haven't seen them on the court.I saw them play about 4 times this year and they look like they should be a lot better.This was more than a 20 point game midway thru the 4th .Not sure whats goin on over there ??? ???

He coached about as good of game as he could have.His post player had an off night and he is usually real solid.I wouldn't want to have to carry a team over their and have to beat him 3 times in 1 year.The last game may be interesting.

Bottom line is WH is better this year,HD can stay close if they get it to the big guy down low.I pick WH by 10.

WH probably wins this if Letsinger stays healthy.Everything they do starts with him,Copeland is also solid.Big Sandy will probably win at home and anything can happen in Spurger.WH starts a very experienced team with several seniors and experience usually wins in close games.My pics are: 1 WH 2 Big Sandy 3 Spurger Next year HD has the edge as the youngsters grow up.

Sims-16,Andrews-10.Overall a very good tournament with WH,Spurger and Warren playing some real close ball games.

Sims and Andrews are both real good shooters.Sims can shoot the 3 very well and Andrews is solid from 15 feet in.Both are juniors but Andrews set out last year and is going to improve with experience.Sims is an extremely hard worker who loves to play the game.Granger played last year with a broken hand that would have sidelined a lot of kids so you can't question his heart.Granger is a senior so this season will be his last.Sims and Andrews both need to get in the weight room this summer to reach their potential.They have a ways to go but they are getting better every game.

No they played at Deweyville.They had beaten Deweyville by 21 earlier in the season and did not come out to play.Kountze and EC are definitely the front runners in the district,but I like Warrens chances to compete for 3rd.Our backcourt was on the bench in foul trouble 3 minutes into the game which made it tough to get in to any kind of rythm.Its real simple for them ,if they show up to play they can be pretty good,if they don't anyone can beat them.The 3rd spot is gonna be wide open and whoever comes out of this district will be battle tested.Warren starts 4 juniors so they will continue to improve.

I don't see anyone demolishing WH.They are fundamentally sound.If you don't turn the ball over and control tempo WH would make this closer than most people think.I really have enjoyed watching WH as these kids get older,Warren has played them every year and I knew they would be solid this year.They shoot the ball real well and that will keep you in any game if you avoid turnovers.Matchups and emotion play a huge part in high school basketball.I would give the edge to Kountze but I think it would be less than ten.Common opponents mean absolutely nothing,its all about matchups.

I agree totally about both coaches last night.Both teams are very well coached, 1 just has a few more horses than the other.WH is very good but its nearly impossible to go undefeated.Big Sandy and Spurger will be hard to beat at home and I hear HD is playing pretty well also.There is gonna be 1 real solid team in this district not making the playoffs.Enjoyed the game last night at WH,great atmosphere and really close until Whitacre got in foul trouble midway thru the 4th.Congrats to both clubs,it was worth the money.

Probably will rest Donahoe some,if he does it will be HJ by25.

I'll say WH by 15 if it's in Saratoga.

When do Hardin and Tarkington play???

WH definitely has the better overall club.If Letsinger is healthy he is a matchup nightmare for Spurger at the point.Don't overlook Spurger if the contest is a physical one.Tanner Sheffield and the Whitacre kid are very good in the paint.The backcourt play gives WH the edge,on a gimpy ankle for Letsinger I say WH by 10.Also where are they playing?Home court for either one of these clubs is huge.Both these teams should make the playoffs.

I keep seeing post about Lumberton beating WOS and then this weekend they beat EC.I know these are 2 quality clubs so maybe its time to give the Raiders some credit.Coach Henry is a good coach and he must have these kids playing pretty well.Good luck Lumberton.
