  1. Thats part of the growing process. These young ladies will be fine once they get a little experience. There is a HUGE difference in playing at 7pm versus playing at 5:30pm(if you know what I mean). If they are competing now with the better programs the future will be bright for the Lady Bobcats.
  2. I know you can't always tell alot in the summer tournaments but from what I did see Hudson wasn't in the same league as Kountze.Kountze wins this one by 12.
  3. This was Evadale's first game of the season, still looked like they had a little rust on em from the football season.I think it was Deweyville's 4th game but sometimes its hard to stay sharp during the holidays.I have to agree with you, this one wasn't real pretty.
  4. I heard the JV started at 3,if that's accurate the Varsity will probably start about 4:30.
  5. This will probably be more like a scrimmage for Hardin.I doubt if Nolan or Marsh will play much. They just got out of football last night. You won't be able to tell much about either club in this one.
  6. One of the biggest turnarounds in a program I have ever seen.Nothing to hang your heads about this year.It may be several years before you realize how special this season was for you and your fans.Congrats on a great year.
  7. Congrats to J-Ward and the rest of the guys from LTown from the folks in Warren.Class bunch of young men there. The community is lucky to be represented by them.
  8. I don't know what kinda talent HD has but you can bet the farm the new coach will get everything out of them they've got.He won games last year with a Lumberton club that shouldn't have even been close. They will definately be in the hunt.
  9. Didn't mean to slight Big Sandy CATMAN,I just didn't know anything about them. It's real unusual to have good sub varsity teams at real small schools.Usually if the Fresh and Sophs are good they are on the varsity.Future looks bright for BS. ;)
  10. Warren is pretty long for a 2-a club. The 2 point guards(1 has been out hurt)are the only 2 on the team less than 6'2".Andrews is 6'4",Sims,Swinney,McBee are all 6'3".Riley,Young and Huelett are 6'2".
  11. Warren and Spurger had a scrimmage at 9am the morning after football season was over.Six of Warrens nine players played football the night before and had a 0 practice time.Spurger has a good club and these 2 teams know each other well but I don't think they expect to see the same type performance next week.Should be a good game.
  12. Tired??? Both teams played last night.I really thought Warren might have a let down because there games with Woodville are always extremely competetive. The difference plain and simple was DEFENSE.Warren played it really well tonight on some pretty good shooters.FYI-Warren has given up 35,37 and 37 so far this year.
  13. Woodville has home court so that makes it closer.Big Sandy by 10. Big Sandy-75 Woodville-65
  14. Now I'm curious.Earlier I think in this thread someone said Kountze lost because NW had players 6'2 and 6'3 while Kountze had 1 player 6'2 with the rest 5'9.Now they will win district and go to Austin because of there inside presence. If Kountze is successful(and I think they will be to some extent)it will be because of there pressure defense and scoring in transition. The teams that beat them will beat the press.I don't think there strength is the half court sets.
  15. On a neutral court Silsbee wins by 4. Silsbee-76 Kountze-72
  16. Really hate to see a kid transfer away from a school he has gone to for years and leave his friends over basketball playing time. But to answer your question. No,if he transfers for athletic reasons he can't play.In this particular instance he doesn't live in the district so he could't play there anyway.Being a senior if he lived in the Spurger district he could play after sitting out for 15 days.Last but not least to think about,if he wasn't getting playing time in Warren he probably won't get it in Spurger even if he was elgible.I hope the young man stays in Warren,he is a really nice kid and extremely funny to be around.
  17. Year in and year out I would have to say HJ,Silsbee,Kountze and Ozen in no particular order.EC always has a good varsity club but I dont think there sub varsity teams are historically as strong.
  18. Warren turned it up a notch tonight and won by 33.Bridge City has a couple of pretty solid players and they will win some ballgames this year.New coach looks like he has em going in the right direction.
  19. Ditto!!! On the defense. This group is starting to come together pretty well.Sims had 6-3's tonight and Andrews had another good game on the block.Swinney played his best game of the year despite battling the flu.Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving.
  20. Woodville will get better no doubt I think all but 1 of there starters just got out of football and they have some pretty good atheletes. The basketball only schools are still ahead of the curve so BS will win that one.How was Woden CATMAN??? They are in Woodvilles district and are usually pretty solid.
  21. Bernsein is definitely a player.Breeden is deceptively mean ;) .Lots of these girls can flat out go.They are developing into a real good team.
  22. Congrats girls, maybe Coach Sims can put the Prilosec up for the weekend : : :
  23. Good job guys!!! Good win with a pretty solid defense tonight.Don't want to overlook the crowd tonight it was great for an early season game and the jazz band was awesome.I had seen that at EC and Corrigan in the past and it's a great addition.Casey Word gets the fan of the week but the student section from both schools was in top form.Good luck to Woodville the rest of the way.Coach Bowles will have them playing good ball pretty quick.
  24. They haven't been practicing but a week and alot of these guys didn't play much last year. They will get the kinks worked out.
  25. Congrats Pirates, those are the kind of games you like to watch.I knew B/C would be better this year.
