Liberty 4 16 31 54 Warren 7 24 36 45 Sims-17,Swinney-7,Young-7. I hate to say it but I saw this one coming.An old adage in basketball or any sport is you play like you practice and the boys haven't been in the gym since Saturday.Very unusual for a senior club to be this inconsistant.This was the last non district game so the time for talk is over.These kids can be really good when they commit themselves and very average when they don't.

I think it starts with the student body,get them involved and the parents will go just to see whats up.Once they follow this group they will come back.Heck I don't hardly know anyone in Spurger and I've seen them play 4 times this year just because I like good basketball.You would be amazed at the difference in the intensity if the Spurger folks would pack the gym.I hope for the seniors sake (Phillip and JT)they get behind this club because these 2 are solid players and good kids who deserve the community support.

It's all about matchups.Marsh and Whittacre are both top notch post guys and will just about take each other out.The difference I think will be Spurgers shooting guards,if they are on they shoot the ball better than Hardins.But the home court can cancel that out.This will be a good game to watch and will be a great game to get both clubs ready for the district grind.Spurgers fans need to get behind this club,they are pretty darn good and don't seem to be getting the support they deserve.

Glad to see the Spurger boys bounce back.Good bunch of kids.I knew Sheffield would light it up if he would start shooting it again.Congrats on the win,Spurger is alot better than some people think.

Thru 15 games Paul Sims from Warren has hit 46-3ptrs. In his his best game he hit 7-3's in the second half against Brookeland on his way to a 39 point outing.Also shooting 82% from the ft line.Kid has a pretty sweet shot when he's on.

The high school principal was there and assumed that position but the officials would not let him on the bench.He had to sit in the row directly behind the bench.Not sure why but that's where they put him.He is a great baseball guy but was just a spectator as far as this game went.He was an administrator however so the game was legit.

Both clubs will be focused after losing tournament games this weekend.HJ gets the nod at home. HJ-80 Silsbee-72

This one will come down to the health of Bland.Playing in Deweyville they will have an advantage but I have to wonder if Kevin is healthy after looking at his Spurger Tourney stats.Anahuac will have great atheletes and a very good coach that will make it almost dead even.The loser of this game starts district 0-2 which will be a huge hole to crawl out of.If D-ville handles the pressure they win this one at home.This is gonna be a fun one to watch. I enjoyed the visit after the game beeninnikes.I'll be seeing ya at some of the Spurger,Big Sandy games later in the year I'm sure.

Phillip Whittaker had 22 in this one and really played well,George Whittaker also stepped up and played a good ballgame.The Sheffield kid,who is one of Spurgers best, just didn't put it up tonight.When he and Blankenship shoot the 3 Spurger is hard to beat.Best of luck to the Pirates the rest of the way.

I think they should have said it sooner.Spurger shot over 20 free throws in the first half and Warren shot 0.I have never seen a half of basketball officiated that poorly.I was proud of the Warren kids they were down by double digits when the coaches got the thumb and really pulled together.I 've seen these kids play with 4 players and almost beat Brookeland and now beat a good Spurger club without a coach.One thing I've learned about them is there isn't any quit in them.Good job guys,you deserved this one.

That wasn't the foul count,it was throws attempted.Warren was 8/12,Logansport was 21/40.Still with that being said if we cut the turnovers in half we win this ball game.I agree lots of no calls in the backcourt but alot of careless t/o(5 second,traveling and double dribbling).Warren shows signs of being a good club but they are going to have to play with more consistency to be a playoff club.

Logansport-16 35 54 74 Logansport had 4 players in double figures 17,16,14,13. Warren- 10 31 49 61 Sims -26,Andrews-15,Swinney-9 Very close ballgame until late 4th when Warren had to start intentionally fouling.Foul count was questionable to say the least.Logansport shot 40 free throws on the game ,Warren shot 12.Turnovers were the key in this one though regardless of the foul count Warren had 24.We gotta take better care of the basketball.The kids from Louisiana have a good club.

Warren- 11 27 43 59 WH- 11 27 36 49 WH-Copeland-33 Warren-Andrews-21 , Sims-17 Warren showed the signs of a 13 day layoff but shot it well enough to win going away by 10. Copeland played a good ballgame but has absolutely no help.99% of the possessions go thru him.If the big guys could step up WH could compete in there district if not it's gonna be a long year.

I think the HJ girls are 16-3 and 4-0 in district.They look like they are improving every week and have played some very good ballclubs this year.I knew they would be good at the guards but I have been impressed with how much there post players have improved.They really pressure the ball and I think could be real interesting come playoff time.

Anything can happen on any given night in high school basketball but if all the district teams play up to there potential HJ will win it.Silsbee will be second and Jasper third.Orangefield will be well coached and play disciplined basketball but Jasper should pull it out with the athletes they have.Then again this is high school basketball and emotions will play a huge part in it.Thats why it's so much fun to watch.

It's all about the pressure Kountze will put on the ball.If they are successful doing that EC will be in for a long night.I listened to the web cast the other night and it sounded like EC was really having trouble with Central's pressure and Kountze is every bit as quick as Central.I really like VMac but if he isn't 100% healthy EC won't matchup very well with Kountze's post players,they have 2 that can hurt ya and they will shoot the ball well at home.

I gotta go with Spurger in this one.I've seen both clubs play 2 or 3 times this year and the matchups favor the pirates.Both clubs have very good post players but Spurger shoots it better from the perimeter.They are playing in Hardin so it's real close. Spurger- 64 Hardin-60

The ballgame between Kountze and Hardin came down to Kountzes shot selection and there poor performance at the FT line.Hardin played hard and deserved the win on that night but they didn't handle the press very well.Kountze had the open looks they just didn't convert on the outside shots.I think they took those shots to keep from challenging Marsh inside which is understandable,he can make you alter your shot or block it if you don't.Hardin had a let down against Woodville which is very common after a big game like they played Tuesday.Woodville isn't a bad club by any means,they will not beat themselves so you better show up to play or your in trouble.

Spurger played well in this one.WH slowed the Pirates inside game and Sheffield stepped up and hit some huge 3's.The folks in Spurger need to get behind this club,they are pretty good and deserve a good crowd at home.Tyler struggled tonight for the first 3 quarters but got on a roll late.He could really use some help in the backcourt.WH is pretty big across the post but the pressure tonight killed them when the ball wasn't in Copelands hands.This district is gonna be real interesting between Spurger and Big Sandy.Good luck to both these clubs the rest of the way.

If this one is in Kountze they win it by 10.Thomas is a great player but his supporting cast seems to be down a little this year.I don't think the big kid is anywhere close to being 100% but he has a tremendous amount of heart and picks them up by being on the floor.Kountze will be quick enough to keep the ball out of Tramain's hands at times.If they do that they win.

Hardin appeared to have a let down this afternoon.I saw this game and the one against Kountze and they just never got in this one.Woodville took care of the basketball and took high percentage shots and Hardin just didn't shoot it very well today.

WH and Spurger are in opposite sides of the bracket in the tourney.WH opens with Warren and Spurger goes against High Island.I think Spurger will win this game Friday by 20.Copeland is a very good player but Spurger has a lot of options while WH has 1. Spurger-70 WH-48

Amen!!!! I had no one playing in this game and I enjoyed the entertainment immensely.Very well played game and the best officiated one I have seen this year and I have been to a lot of them.Lots of hard play as it should be when 2 good teams square off.Kountze will be focused when the next district game rolls around.Congrats to the Hornets.
