Spurger beat Warren early in the season in a good ballgame.That would be a good final if it plays out that way.Brookeland is capable of winning the top half but they will have to play well to beat Spurger at home.Warren played Brookeland very tough at Zavalla with 2 starters missing and 4 players the whole 4th quarter.Who is Deweyville missing?I know absolutely nothing about Logansport so I can't say who the favorite would be in the bottom half the bracket.

Marsh is solid as a dollar.I went to the ballgame just to watch and I thought it was a pretty well officiated game.Not sure about highsky stats on the free throws.Neither team shot them real well,but in that atmosphere that is understandable.I think this districts champ will be the team that steals a couple on the road.They will have at least 2 losses and I think there are 5 or 6 teams capable of winning it.Watching Kountze last night they would still be my favorite.They lived and died last night with the long ball and it wasn't falling.This was a game that was a lot of fun to watch.

Warren has positioned themselves to take the second spot.They have beaten Hardin,EC and Deweyville and have Anahuac and Buna left to finish up the first round.They are playing a lot better than when I first saw them earlier this year.

I've seen our kids play both teams.BC is fundamentally a little better but Jasper is a lot quicker at both the post and the guards.BC has the better shooters so it will be whoever controls the tempo will win.The post guy from BC was held to 8 points when they played at Warren and the shots weren't falling for the rest of the guys that night.I think Jasper will be the favorite for the 3rd playoff spot in that district.with BC and Orangefield being close.

Very solid post player and another kid who shot the ball well from the perimeter.Didn't beat themselves and didn't commit a lot of mistakes.Not sure how many underclassmen they have but they are much better than they were last year.

BC has a solid post player but Jasper has the athletes to keep the ball out of his hands.If BC can control the tempo it will be close,if they let Jasper push the pace they will be the favorite.

I was impressed with the way he handled his kids.In all fairness he probably doesn't have the horses to compete in the district he's in this year but he is teaching them the proper fundamentals.He will win some ballgames this year and you will see that program start to turn around.Seemed to be a very disciplined team both times I saw them this year.

It's hard to beat a club by 40.Silsbee wins easily but it will be closer to 20 than 40.Hampshire has some pretty good looking atheletes but they sure don't look like they know the game.

Henderson shouldn't have to kick him off.When he pulled his jersey off and left his team with the game in progress he made the only decision that needed to be made.If these actions are condoned regardless of the ability of the player,the team is headed absolutely nowhere.You can bet the rest of the kids are watching this a lot closer than the fans are.Whoever the captain of this club is also should have the coaches undivided attention on this matter.

Knees can be really tricky.I hope he gets to enjoy his senior season but he didn't seem to be walking on it very well friday.It will need to 100% for him to match up with McDonald,Marsh,and Brey.

Your probably right on the money,Hardin plays pretty tough at home.The Baytown area officials won't let the press be real physical which will hurt Kountze.The Lions will be the favorite but not by a ton in Hardin.If Hardin takes care of the ball,slows the game and takes the ball thru Marsh's hands on every possession this game will be fun to watch.If they try to run with Kountze it will be over by halftime.

He is probably talking about the flagrant foul given to #2 on the breakaway layup in Warren last friday night.There is a huge difference in a hard foul and a cheap shot,that was a cheap shot and was called as such.It's very easy for someone to be hurt with that kind of foul,no place for that in the game.I agree with sports talk,D-Ville does need Bland to be successful.With him they can challenge for a playoff spot.

Very close district top to bottom.The top 6 teams will be easily capable of beating each other on any given night.The team that wins it will protect the home court and steal one or two on the road.The top 3 preseason picks were a little inconsistant early but seem to be playing better now.E/C has Vance back and McBee has the knee brace off in Warren so they should both get better.I think those will be the 3 playoff teams in no particular order.E/C Kountze and Warren.Hardin,Anahuac and Deweyville(if they get Bland back) will all upset some folks.Buna must be getting better because they played Hardin a lot closer than I thought they would.

I think Kountze wins in a pretty close game.Hardin can be a tough place to play and Marsh can control the paint. Kountze-78 Hardin-72

Extremely hard for anyone to beat the locals when the deep east texas chapter is calling.We had 2 fans ejected last week up there(one who hadn't said anything just happened to be setting by the guy who had) abd 2 more who were told by local law enforcement they couldn't yell for the kids that loud :o .I've been around the game for longer than I care to admit and have never seen that.This will help the Hawks in the long run.

S Guillory was the player I was talking about that they were missing.I heard he broke a finger,he is solid and starts everything they do.They will need him to compete further down the road.

J Ward is #21 ,he is the real deal.He plays the game the way it was meant to be played on both ends of the court and is an exceptional passer.Hussey should definitely help,he is very quick.Good luck Raiders.

Anyone who knows Coop knows he covers all the teams boys and girls.He depends on eyes and ears from all over to get his info.I am a huge girls fan but the folks who have players on the teams need to get more involved in talking it up.There are too many good girls players in the area to keep them a secret.Thats exactly why I nominated the girl from HJ on the board.She deserves some credit for being an unbelievable player.

U gotta love those Deep East Texas Officials.They seem to always take the game out of the players hands.Wouldn't want to be next on HJ'S schedule.

Good job guys.Still not where we need but looking better.Jumped out to several double digit leads tonight and Deweyville would get back in it with the long ball.Warren didn't shoot many 3's tonight but were still able to pull out the 'W'.Deweyville played inspired ball but were a little short handed.Good crowd and another great job by the band.
