  1. I'll agree with that,he does a good job down low.Andrews does a good job for Warren on the offensive end but is a little light to defend on the block.
  2. I wasn't downing them just don't think it's fair to compare this group to those of the last 3 or 4 years.I can promise you those clubs wouldn't have been 4-4 against the compettition this years group has played.
  3. I would say 24 is right on,except maybe K-ville and WOS flip flop.
  4. Hashaw isn't on the same page as Bland in the paint.
  5. Come on now DAWG,you usually shoot pretty straight.Kountze is gonna be OK but there schedule hasn't really been brutal by any stretch.Wins against a short handed Lumberton club and Lufkins JV is not what I call brutal. This club is gonna be pretty good but they are gonna have to get some experience to reach there potential.I don't think they are gonna just show up and beat folks this year.
  6. Don't give up on us yet CATMAN,we should have our kids back and healthy this week. ;D ;D ;D
  7. Congrats to all the kids on the list. The one glaring ommision on this list is Brodie Parker #42 from Warren. He played FB/LB and kicked for Warren. He started every game this season with a seperated shoulder and still played the positions great. He started the final game against Buna with not only the shoulder but an ankle that was torn so bad he couldn't walk without a brace.I know there are always a few who are overlooked but this is one of the toughest kids I ever watched play the game.Congrats on your season Brody,we really enjoyed watching you.
  8. Copeland will score at will in this one but Bland will control the game in the paint.Deweyville will win this one by a dozen. Deweyville-60 WH-48.
  9. Silsbee will be to deep for the Bucs, plus they are playing at home .Silsbee wins by 20. Silsbee-76 EC-56
  10. Does anyone have a bracket yet?Along with a list of teams.
  11. The difference in these 2 teams right now is depth and experience.HJ has the edge in both catagories. The thing everyone is overlooking about Kountze is their lack of experience. They will get it as the year progresses but there is no substitute for it and only 1 place to get it.They have some good quality players but right now they are nowhere close to the teams of the last 3 or 4 years. HJ is head and shoulders above any other small school in the area right now.
  12. Warren-49 Matt Andrews-27 pts, Paul Sims-11 Liberty-47 Warren takes 3rd in the tourney.Kids went in to this tournament flat but came out and played hard today despite missing 2 starters taking SAT test.Matt Andrews was an all tournament selection after a huge game today.Brandon Young and Cody Andrews really played well today.Congrats guys, get back to work Monday and you'll be fine.
  13. The only one from Spurger that played much then was Phillip.Johnnie W and Tanner Sheffield were the main cogs in that wheel. These 2 teams are very close and this was a 4 point game with 2 minutes left, the spread at the end was from free throws.I hope we can see another game this intense at the Spurger Tourney.Good luck to both clubs the rest of the year.
  14. Neither club could be happy with the FT shooting today.Warren usually shoots around 70% from the line as a team but weren't anywhere close to that today.Sims went 5/7 but I think overall the club was 9/20.They just seemed a little out of sync today,I'll be surprised if they dont come ready to play tomorrow.
  15. Warren and Spurger haven't played but twice in the last 2 years.Once this year and once last year, splitting the 2 games.Spurger beat Warren twice the season before that but Phillip was probably the only kid from this years Spurger team that got any playing time in that game.Warren started 4 Sophs that year. These 2 teams are very familiar with each other playing continuosly through the summer with the games always being close and each club winning there share.Neither club should hang there head here this was a good ballgame,4 point difference with 2 minutes left.Hope we see another one next month.
  16. It was a good ballgame for both clubs, but how could you question the officials.Warren had 23 fouls against them Spurger had 12.Andrews got 2 in less than a minute to open the game which was probably the difference in this contest. This seems to be a history with one of these officials(second time its happened this season).I will agree the officiating was pretty bad but it was bad on both sides. You had to love the atmosphere,it was great for an early season game.
  17. Don't know if it was the early start or what but the Warriors came out pretty slow today.Tons of unforced turnovers was the biggest problem. On the upside Warren rebounded the ball better today than they have in the previous games.Sims had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors. They will have to get back in there groove tomorrow.I believe they will show up ready to go.
  18. I told ya before the season there was a pretty good club taking shape in Sour Lake. I talked with the coach before the season and she told me they had a shot at being pretty good. The last time I heard that they went a long ways.Good job girls.
  19. I agree 100% and there are some very good girls teams in the area.year in and year out some of the best in the state.
  20. Good job ladies.Good luck at Evadale
  21. Good ball game to watch.Tied at half 33-33.Couple of the key pieces of the puzzle for Warren got in early foul trouble and Spurger capitalized on it.Good crowd tonight, great atmosphere for an early season ballgame.Sheffield-23 pts(4-3ptrs) for Spurger and Sims-26pts(4-3ptrs) for Warren put on a shooting show in the first half.Andrews got in early foul trouble for the Warriors and Whittacre had a good ballgame for the pirates. That was pretty much the tale of the game. Both these clubs are gonna be pretty good before it's over.
  22. HJ may have a couple of players missing for this one.If they do it may be a little closer than it should be.I say the Lady Hawks by 10.
  23. Deweyville played everyone in the district tough this year.I don't mean this in a negative way so don't kill my Karma steelrcrazy.I think they need to take a look at there non district schedule. The kids played hard but I don't think they were quite ready to play the better clubs in the district, mainly EC,Buna and Hardin. They also had the same problem Warren had and that was trying to replace a great running back.No disgrace in a school there size playing 1-a schools but they may want to look at Groveton,West Sabine and West Hardin to get them ready instead of High Island,Sabine Pass and Colmesneil.Good luck next year Pirates.I think the Coach is doing a good job with the program.
  24. 1.HJ 2. Silsbee 3. Jasper 4. Orangefield 5. WOS 6. Kirbyville 7. Bridge City 8. Hampshire Fannett The top 2 in this district are a lock, the next 4 will be to close to call.I like Jaspers chances once they get the QB from the football squad.
  25. I heard they played a football game before all this happened but I'm not sure anymore.Let the Raiders enjoy the ride, they deserve it.
