  1. I don't think there are any 4.4's in Warren however there RB's will probably be there strengths this year. Brandon Young has some speed but played receiver last year. The backs will probably be Blackshear,Morris and Scritchfield. The QB will do a good job along with the receivers, the questions will be on the line where they lost some quality players. Not sure why everyone has them picked last. They beat Deweyville and Anahuac last year and lost to Kountze by 1 point on a last second 2 point conversion.I also don't know why the schedule has them playing in Kountze again this year, looks like that game should be in Warren.I don't see the playoff picks changing much. 1. EC 2. Buna 3. Hardin 4. Kountze 5. Warren 6. Anahuac 7. Deweyville
  2. Silsbee is gonna be very good as usual and I don't think they have had Shannon with them so far.Kountze is also looking pretty good despite missing Walker with a knee injury and Bray(who says he going to St. Pius).Everyone else has looked pretty average from what I'm hearing.Warren has really struggled so far losing to Lumberton by 20,Silsbee by a butt load and Hardin by 8.I haven't seen West Hardin,Kelly or Evadale but have heard they weren't looking real strong.
  3. how many times you gonna change your picks??? cuz youve posted like a million different scenarios.. haha The district may be closer than some think.Warren beat Anahuac last year on the road and lost to Kountze by one on a last second 2 pt conversion that was aided by an off sides penalty.Buna will be better than there getting credit for also and Deweyville may have had the best young team in the district.Ther main question will come from the coaching change.Every team in this district will have to show up and play there A game this year or they will go home with a loss.
  4. Looks like a LONG season ahead for the Warriors.Silsbee just destroyed them last week. They probably shouldn't be able to beat the tigers but they have to be able to at least compete with them if they plan on being respectable next year.
  5. Not sure what the summer league officials make but it's probably more than 20 a game.I have never seen a charge at the door either.Normally the cost of the jersey covers all expenses.I had the pleasure for several years to coach a summer team that played in the Kountze league and Duane and Travis do a great job of running that one. These leagues should be strictly used to develop the kids skills and keep them in the gym.I'm not sure the UIL would let you put this money back into your program.
  6. Don't know how I could have left LaLa off the list. She is probably the fastest girl from one to the other I've seen. This group is gonna be pretty good.
  7. If Anahuac keeps there players elgible they finish 2nd behind Kountze. The 3rd spot is anyones guess but I would probably give the nod to Hardin simply because the have a solid point guard.EC will struggle without Tramain and McDonald and Hardin won't resemble the same team without Marsh.Deweyville returns Caswell but lost Bland and Jackson to graduation so they will be in the middle of the pack.Warren graduated everyone so they will probably struggle while Buna will actually be a little better. The winner of this district however will have to beat a good Newton team and a good New Waverly club to go to the drum and that won't be easy.
  8. Not showing much dedication so far. They will have to really get to work if they want to be competetive and so far they haven't done that.Lumberton beat them last week in the only game they have played this summer. They will struggle to score this season.Cody will do ok and will give you everything he's got but he's about a foot shorter than his brother.Cody has a real good work ethic but I 'm not sure he has the size to put up the kind of numbers his brother did. Matt could have been a super player if he would have put the time in the gym.I think they will be respectable once Cris gets to work with them some, they don't have much experience coming back.
  9. HJ has 2 good returning post players, the Sutherland girl who will probably move to the point and a very good shooter in King on the Wing. Not sure what kind of depth they will have but there first group will definitely make them a contender.
  10. If they are playing from 3-9 they may have to charge to pay the officials. They would have to have several crews to cover that many games. If not they should pull the ticket booth down and let the folks enjoy the games for nothing, there not meant to be a money making venture.
  11. They lost a lot but they may surprise some folks. It will depend on how much tme they spend in the gym this summer because they didn't get a lot of playing time last year. PG- Nash 3 ppg- graduated. Blackshear will fill this role. Guard-Mcbee 5 ppg-graduated.Young should do well in this spot. Guard-Sims 19 ppg-graduated.Cody Andrews will be the shooter on this club. Post-Swinney 8 ppg-graduated.Scritchfield looks to have the edge on this spot. Post-Andrews-15 ppg-graduated.Riley will slide in this spot. Biggest challenge will be getting a small lineup open for the shots.Andrews can score and Young is the best athlete that has came thru Warren in years if he learns to play smart he could be special.
  12. I heard Scott Carnley won his first match.Don't have any details yet but they are in a rain delay also.
  13. Kountze will still be the overwhelming favorite even if Bray leaves town.Roman Walker was and still is Kountzes best player.Bray has a tremendous amount of talent but needs to take a lesson from JCovan before he waste it.Right now he is highly overated.Duane Joubert is a fine coach and will develop Bray if given the time.
  14. Hardin won't resemble the team they were this year without Marsh. They will also miss Nolan in the backcourt.Davis is a very good ballplayer and will be the best point guard in the district this year. That's the good news for the Hornets, thats where you have to start building your club. Not sure he has enough help though to compete. The freshmen players for the hornets were as good as Daniel made them.I think they are probably 4th in this district.
  15. Congrats Scotty. No doubt who the best singles players was in Tyler.Austin is a Senior but I hear he has been hurt all year, don't know if he even played in the region-4 tourney this year.
  16. This is neither surprising or news, next topic please !!!!!!
  17. I think Coach Ramsey will be back,he has another year on his contract and has done a pretty good job as the head football coach. He has also done a super job helping with the softball program. The only down side to the athletic department over the last several years has been the baseball and track programs. They should be very competetive and both are in shambles. You can't blame this on TJ however just a tremendous amount of instability over the past 3 or 4 years.I hope he stays simply because he has the kids best interest at heart,Warren could do a lot worse.
  18. Congrats KB,something tells me this won't be the last stop for this young lady, she's a very special player who sees the floor as well as any high school pg I've seen. This is a great opportunity for her.
  19. Congrats Phillip. It couldn't happen to a more deserving young man.
  20. Really sad to see the state of the Warren team this season. They have a coach who definitely knows the game but the past 2 years have left the program in shambles. There is one senior player left on the team, the rest of the kids are pretty young. A lot of the kids who should be playing are in the stands watching the softball games. It's hard to be competetive at the 2-a level when your numbers are down like that.Hopefully the young kids will stick it out,if they do Dickinson will turn it around eventually.
  21. And the answer to that question is yes! He played post at Hardin because they had no other posts players. He can play the 2 or 3 because he can dribble, he is quick, and has an excellent medium range jumper along with a good outside shot. This kid can go, regardless of what ya'll say, I would put him up against anyone, AND YES I SAID ANYONE, including the almighty Tramain, anyday of the week. Even after a track meet!! Marsh is a good kid whose natural position would be a small forward. He is a little light to play the 5 and probably didn't handle the ball well enough to be 2 guard. He had a great shot from around 12-15 feet but lacked the consistancy from behind the arc for that to be his specialty so he wouldn't fit the mold of a pure shooter in the 3 hole. The kids that made the Gamble team were picked for a position, most of them anyway, and they played the positions well.Tramain,Jarvis and Shannon more than held there own in the backcourt as did the bigs.Daniel Marsh is a good kid who had a great year, that should be reward enough.I have no doubt he could definitely play receiver at the college level, the kid has great hands and super jumping ability.
  22. McDonald seperated a shoulder during football season and never completely recovered.Against Warren he scored 8 points total,2 in the first game and 6 in the last game.I also watched him a couple of other times during the season and he wasn't his usual self.I don't buy the 2-a argument however. Most of the better 2-a players play aau ball with the big boys and more than hold there own.
  23. They were using Parker to try and stop the bleeding at several positions.Catching was his natural position and probably where he should have been.He was one of the better defensive catchers around. No disrespect to Young but there are a lot of places where his speed could benefit the club, other than behind the plate.
  24. I agree Buc2010, I also think Tyler Copeland from West Hardin should have been there.Congrats to all the kids, pretty impressive list.
  25. I was talking about Parker,he doesn't run track.
