We usually put in at Hansens and idle up to the fish pass. The bulk heads on both sides just before you get to the highway bridge will load up with flounder this fall.A lead head jig in white tipped with shrimp will do the trick.Like I said the boat we fish out of here is a 16 ft CC aluminum but it's not a junker by any stretch we just don't get in any big hurry when we're in Keith Lake. The next time I put in at Esthers I' ll PM you some GPS cordinates on where we catch our specks,we usually catch them on shad fished on a Carolina Rig.I like to go out there real early and fish to about daylight at times it can be awesome.

I usually don't even reply to your post but I think you'll be surprised at Spurger this year.I watch a ton of 1-a thru 3-a school ball and Spurger will be legit.HJ will return Turner who is one of the fastest defenders in this area at any classification. They will be very well coached and will find some folks to fill the holes left by Bernard and Burrell.Don't sleep on Spurger this year though Dickie. They will have a pure shooter on the wing,a very capable kid in McGallion at the point and a kid at the post who is as solid as any of the small school players in this area.I didn't say Spurger would win this matchup,I said it would make an interesting warm up game and it would. -
This is my point exactly.Jones and Carlos both have some size for a 1-a club. They would be my 4 and 5.Wasson,Nguyen and Cruthirds round out your starting group and you have your best 5 players on the floor. You won't have a ton of depth on a 1-a club so you have to find a way to keep your better players on the floor.#3 can score and complimentJones and Carlos but all this group needs to be a complete club is someone to put pressure on the "D".I quess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one, best of luck to all the guys in this district this year.I'll definitely come check out these games. Here's my prediction for the upcoming year. (1) Spurger- They could easily be in the regional tournament this year. (2) Sabine Pass-Will challenge the pirates and finish a close second. (3) Hull Daisetta-Will have some pretty good athletes and a solid coach. (4) Evadale-Folks leaving and some not playing, not a good start for a club trying to get back to the playoffs. (5) High Island-Not quite enough fire power to compete with the top dogs in this district.

I certainly wouldn't put High Island and Spurger in the same category.Spurger would have some interesting matchups with the Hawks this year.Blankenship may be the best kept secret in this area when it comes to shooters and Whittacre can hold his own in the paint.Assuming both clubs make the playoffs (and they will)I would pay to see this game as a warmup. -
Evadale Advances to Gold Bracket in Woodville Tournament
whsalum replied to underarmor's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The Warren girls look to be playing very well since school started.I'm not sure what their record is but they have only lost 1 game this season in the grapeland tourney. Not sure how these brackets are set up but a Warren/Woodville final would probably be the tourney championship. -
If they lost Davis it's another long year for the Hornets.
-
I thought Sabine Pass was returning 4, the tall slender white kid I thought was a senior. If that is the case I would slide the oriental kid to the wing and put the ball in Cruthirds hand to put some pressure on the defense.I'm not campaigning for Cruthirds just giving my opinion on what would make the Sharks better. They will be a playoff team regardless but could go a couple of rounds deep with a couple of adjustments.

What's going on with the officiating chapter ????
whsalum replied to whsalum's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That's good news!! I hope you're right about the chapter.I enjoy seeing a good official work a game regardless of who they are. -
I'm not sure why they don't get some very good players to come out. They have to have some talent strictly by the number of girls that go there.Coach White has been around the game forever and could put a winner on the floor if the girls would get involved in the program.

Yes, congrats to this future Silsbee Tiger. I heard he was going to Buna as part of the player to be named later in the Shannon Robinson deal :o -
What's going on with the officiating chapter ????

That's him,you seee him calling all over SETX and always does a good job in the playoff games as well.I hope your right Nos but I'm not sure. The biggest loss will be the work he puts in the the young kids just getting started. -
I think the kid who was the PG last year needs to start but I think the Sharks will be a better team with him on the wing.A good club has to have a PG who is a little bit aggressive and on the cocky side and Cruthirds fits that bill. The Sharks have the scorers so they need someone to collapse the defense and dish the ball to the shooters.I watched Sabine Pass last year start slow and then finish with a flurry and that is usually a personality of the club. They can be pretty good but they have to be more aggressive on both ends of the floor.I think they finish 2nd in the district and the 3rd spot will be a toss up.
-
It won't be easy to reload without Bailey and Spikes. Those are 2 huge loses.
-
If he developes the 3 ball he will have the complete package.Good luck to the Pirates this year.
-
Any idea what happened to my pics? They were on the site early in the week but I don't see them now.
-
The 3 ball is a great weapon but Spurger already had that in Blankenship and McGallion. If George has put on 15 pounds and muscled up the paint will belong to him this year.Sabine Pass had a lanky kid who was a pretty good ball player but he looked more comfortable at the 3 or 4 than in the paint.Who will the pirates have this year to go along with Whittacre,Blankenship and McGallion.I was impressed last year with the young Spurger coach.I saw him work with the BS kids for sevral years and he did an excellent job last year with Spurger.

Probably should have addressed the question in 2 parts. We normally fish the Keith Lake Pass out of a 16 ft CC aluminum boat. The flounder will flat bunch up there in the fall but your buddy is right on about the boat(especially since the last hurricane). We catch a lot of specks on a ridge off the intracoastal canal just a short run from Esthers. You can idle out of Esthers in just a few minutes.I did a ton of white bass jigging this summer with my brother in law on Livingston this summer out of a 22 ft Triton,it spoiled me.I wanted a new bass boat until I fished out of the Triton and now my wife is hooked on the CC.Carol hasn't fished much but she will try just about anything outdoors. My kids are off in college now so hopefuly I will get to wet a hook pretty regularly again.
-
I don't remember his # but he gave the club a huge spark when he came in the ball game at Spurger and in the playoff games I saw.He can push the ball and dish it when he needs to.The kids that played the point last year is either gonna have to get more aggressive or play on the wing for the Sharks to be a complete club.Cruthirds was also the best defender I saw on the club last year.
-
I've got a good friend who has launched there several times this summer.I think they have some traffic barricades up but I'm pretty sure you can launch there.
-
I think the ramp at the Esthers is still good to go.You may want to check out the Keith Lake fish pass this fall if you want to catch some flounder. You can usually catch some pretty good fish there on plastic jigs tipped with shrimp.I'm thinking about getting me a 22 ft CC triton when I retire, how do you like yours? What are you running on it and where did you get it ??
-
I've been hearing all kind of rumblings about the Beaumont local officiating chapter.I heard thru the grapevine this week that Mike Simpson was resigning from the chapter.I certainly hope this isn't true.Mike isn't only one of the best officials in the chapter but also a great training official for the young folks just getting started. If this is true the chapter hasn't only lost a great asset but the kids and the game have lost a very classy individual.Hope to see you on the floor working the games Mike, it's where you belong.

They usually under achieve, not sure why. They should be able to put a competetive team together with the numbers they have.Coach White has been in the game forever and is a great guy hope they do well.

I knew I was in trouble in week 0 when I missed a game that had already been played but this week is gonna be UGLY on my sheet.I thought the Warren game was a lock after seeing what Buna did to Trinity :

*Warren vs. Trinity Updates/TRINITY WINS!
whsalum replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I didn't mean they would be easy wins.I just see these 2 games as them being able to compete in,the rest are going to be tough. The coach is the same as in years past.I don't know the emphasis they put on special teams but extra points have cost them at least 6-8 games over he last 3 to 4 years.
