Thanks for setting him straight KHSAlum400.I didn't say there was anything racially wrong with either town.I said the law enforcement people directed the opposing fans out a different exit,which they did.Thats unique I think because I've never seen it any where else and I've been in just about every gym in the state at one time or another.FYI The fans from West Hardin are good folks,they support their kids just like everyone else.

I'll be yelling for Kountze but I think NW will be a little to tough for the Lions.NW should handle the pressure the Lions apply and that will hurt Kountze on the offensive end.NW wins by 8. NW-72 Kountze-64

Congrats to Coach West and the Panthers on a great season.I knew it wouldn't be long before he turned things around down there.I know they are disappointed but they have nothing to hang their heads about.Good job guys.

I have had the opportunity to go to EC and New Waverly following basketball teams for years.EC has had very good clubs the past several years and were always good host when you went there to play.They support their kids,as they should,but were always gracious host.New Waverly also always had good clubs but we usually were directed out seperate doors by the law enforcement folks.It's a shame but it's a different world when comparing those 2 communities.That being said I think NW represents region 3 in Austin this year.

Ryan was a good kid and a great player.I don't know anything about his academics but Rice is a tough place to get in to.I know SFA was ready to sign him out of high school but he got some incredibly bad advice from some AAU folks.I don't think he ever played at Navarro, I hope he gets things worked out,he definitely had the skill to play college ball.

If Chase and Daniel decide the tempo Spurger could very well win it.The few times I've seen Thorndale over the past couple of seasons they never let the other club control the pace.They are usually very basketball smart which allows them to stay in games where they shouldn't be close.I haven't seen them this year so my observations are from the past 2 years.

I wish the Pirates the best.I wish they were playing a little closer than Willis.I will probably stop at Caney Creek and check out the Hawks and Navasota.

For the most part I had theses picks pegged.I didn't get the chance to see Hampshire so I couldn't comment on them.The rest of the picks fell out like I figured they would.Congrats to the young ladies on their seasons.

It may not be the same club that we've seen at the state tournament but they will be very well coached.The kids will have bought in to the system and will be very disciplined.There won't be a double digit win in this game.Thorndale always controls the tempo which could lead to a 56-50 type game.If thats the case it will come down to possessions and free throws so its a toss up.

You guys just need to get in a GOOD summer league and play as team.Take about 10 players and challenge each other to work on their weakness.#23 and #3 should be in a daily battle to make each other better.#3 has some potential but could be called for carrying the ball on every possession,the sky is the limit for #23 if he puts the time in the gym.People feed off his upbeat style of play(he even gets the crowd in to it).One of the keys for SP next year will be #21,he has a good shot but needs to be more involved throughout the game.The times that I saw SP this year he would hit some big shots and then disappear for a stretch.The only other observation I had last night is the fans while supporting the kids need to leave the coaching to the young man on the bench.Its great to be vocal and support the team but trying to tell the kids what to on each possession probably ended in Lil Dribblers.Overall I was pretty impressed with the Sharks this season,they were better than I thought they would be.Congrats on a very good year.

They need to find a spot for #23,he picks the game up a notch when he hits the floor.

Normangee 57 SP 50 Nomangee was just to deep for the Sharks.The Sharks came out alittle flat but made a good ballgame out of it late.Normangee hit free shots late to seal it.Congrats Sharks on a good season.

San Augustine wins this one by 10.Kountze and San Augustine should play up at Angelina JC.Pretty good facility and not real far from either town.Plus some pretty good eating places after the game.

Come on folks.This is a high school message board about sports.You may want to quit throwing so many names out there.I can assure you Coach Foster will handle the basketball end of it and that's probably all anyone should comment on in this forum.

Navasota and Madisonville would be a very good game but I don't think either one of them will beat Diboll.Madisonville plays great transition basketball but Dibolls big girl will cancel the post threat out and that's how they beat HJ.I like Dibolls chances of representing region3 at the drum.

I think HJ will return 4 that were up all year,plus a couple that moved up late.One of those freshmen that moved up played alot during the last O-field game and during the playoffs.This kid is gonna be a player.I haven't got a game program here so her name escapes me but she hit several big time shots in both playoff games.They return both post players and one of their outside shooters and several young kids that will move up.The future looks bright in Sour Lake.

I wasn't complaining.I don't have a dog in the fight.I was just curious last night looking at the bracket why you would have 10 teams with a bye in the first round and any with a bye in the second.It had nothing to do with HF personally.

I agree about having to many playoff teams.Having 4 in 4-a and 5-a is ridiculous.In a lot of cases having 3 in the lower levels is just as bad.Plain and simple if you have a losing district record there is no way you should be a playoff team.

If they were in different 1-a divisions I think the warm up game with Brookeland would have been a good decision(not sure if they are both D-1) or not.While it's good to play tough games to get ready for the playoffs,I'm not sure about this one.Playoff basketball is all about momentum and Cleveland may be to deep for the Pirates.I wish Spurger the best but this one will be tough.

This is unreal.High School Varsity basketball is not about letting lil johnnie get equal minutes.You outgrow that after little dribblers.If I had to quess I would say Todd and Co. scheduled 38 games up to this point so they would KNOW who their best players were in ANY situation.I even heard some fans at the HJ girls game last night yelling "put in some different players coach".Come on people,if your playing you 38th game of the season or your in the 2nd round of the playoffs the talent evaluating is over.Let the coaches do their job. ;)

No disrespect to HF but how in the world does the 3rd seed in 21-aaa get Huffman in the 1st round and then get a bye in the 2nd round.Looking at the brackets last night there were 10 teams who got byes in the 1st round.Why not schecule 5 more games,reward your champs with seeding and avoid the 7 day delay that kills some teams??
