  1. My sophomore year, we went 0-for 10 at WH. We had 2 seniors on the team, and one of them was injured. 6 of our starters were out, and we had 17 kids on the varsity squad to begin with. We played at EC and they were very strong that year. I was sidelined with an injury watching our boys get outscored 42-0 in the first quarter. I think the final was 72-0. Since then, the EC-WH games were pretty close, though EC has won the majority (I think), this was the worst game I've been to/ watched/ played in, any or all of the above.

What about the Newton/Sealy game? Wasn't that 80-6 or something. Did anybody see that one?

  2. I didn't see any blatent hits to take a player out during this game. ::) What I did see for a fact, was a group of Kountze fans cussing our boys and saying something about a cheap shot. I also watched a Koutnze player cheapshot our QB/Kicker twice in a row after he had clearly kicked the PAT. But nobody's whining, and I'm not holding it against all Kountze fans. There are always a few bad apples in every group.

  4. Alto has the speed to handle Huntington. I don't see Huntington scoring more than once or twice and Alto putting up 50+. Huntington has a big, physical fullback and a quick qb, and an elusive hb, but I don't think they compare to the Yellowjackets at the skill positions, regardless. WH hasn't had any problems with a big bruising back, and held Huntington's to very few yards. It was the qb and hb on all of those traps and counters the killed us last night. Way to come away with the win boys!! Kelly's JV is a warmup game for district. Don't get anyone hurt.

  5. Yeah, I have to agree there. I played at Sam State and we had a kid that was the fastest in the conference, and he ran a 4.34 for an NFL scout. He was an all american in track. 2 4.3's on a H.S. team is unheard of. When most people say 4.2 & 4.3 they mean 4.4 and 4.5.  ;D

That being said, I saw some of the Dayton kids run track last year, and they are fast, but its not a track meet, its a football game. Good luck Bronco's and Good luck Raider's. Hope its a great matchup tonight!!

  6. It seems to be a little of both. The stands are always a lot more full during homecoming and a little extra motivation coming from a larger, louder crowd (usually with home fans on the visitor side, too). But the distractions cannot be overlooked. Its all hype during the week and usually it is few of the starters that escort the girls, so they are taken out of a lot of the halftime speaches and adjustments.

I'm thinking the glitter of homecoming is a little more of a distraction than a helper, but that's TX high school football. Homecoming is a rich tradition in my opinion, and important part of celebrating your school's past and presence. That being said, WH-Huntington tonight at West Hardin's homecoming. Go Oilers!!
