  1. Dude your Miami Vice cops Tubbs and Copeland would warm the bench for H-D and Evadale. Both kids are just slow footed average players. WH has 0 explosive players compared to H-D's 6 or more. H-D will overwhelm the Oilers early on, and before you know it the score is 14-0 with two plays over 60 yards. The Oilers will be down and out and ready to stump break a deer on opening weekend. Bobcats make WH play from behind and try to pass the ball, which we know they can not do. Also H-D #9 is correct about Thomas and Zach I know because I lived next to #9 and the Simmons. #9 and I played football in the yard with Thomas and Zach for many summers. Granted they were young, but Bobcats through and through. So don't go there with the transfer thing. Bobcats blow out WH and send the Oilcans to the deer lease with their heads down.

Hey man, its good to be proud of your team, but freakin stop with the slander. You can be positive and talk trash without singling out people and running them down. It really shows your age when you do this. Noone is impressed with your mouth, or your lack of knowledge about the game. If anything, you are embarassing people from your own school.

  2. The "Southeast Texas Friday Night Football Gumbo" is a mix of fans, participation, winning, losing etc.

You can't remove one ingredient without totally changing the "taste". Every ingredient you mentioned is necessary, and equally important.

    I love this quote.

As for paying the coach's salary, insurance, etc. that's why we pay taxes. I didn't say the programs clear the money, but they don't rely on revenue generated by admission to  be able to play the games, so I don't think they hope for a good turnout to pay the refs and such. It probably costs more to play for small schools than it makes, but everything is already paid for. The school benefits from funds received, plain and simple.

I agree too, that it was and is intended for student participation, but its also a lot of fun to watch. If it wasn't geared toward entertainment too, they wouldn't worry about uniforms, stadiums, playing on etc. and they'd play them during school during the week, wouldn't charge for admission, and we woudln't have a "SETX Forum" to make such a big deal out of these little events. It is entertainment, in a major way, whether you like it or not. Typing on this thread alone, proves that.

  3. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adrian Anderson, one of the bobcat tailbacks, won state in both the 100 and 200 meters.  HD's sprint relay team won 2nd place at state.  Overall HD's track team won 2nd place at state.  So I hope WH is ready to chase down more than just an oilfield crew truck !!! H-D Bobcats District Champs !!! Dang I almost forgot to tell you, Anthony Brooks our other Tailback is faster than Adrian Anderson. Looks like slow footed WH is in trouble !!!

You keep talking about this track team, but Bud, you're a few months until track season. H-D probably has more speed than anyone they played, but they aren't running all over and around their opponents. Speed advantage goes to Daisetta, we've established that, but those speed guys are gonna have to take some licks and stop some power runners.

And yeah, all of this is trash talk. We're rivals, that's whats great about it. I wouldn't put money on either team, because its gonna go to who wants it more. The HD - WH is always very hard to predict, but WH is the undisputed district champs until they get beat, and thats the truth! Can't wait til' Friday..... ;)

  4. Hardin has the worst visitor's side, and getting dressed in the gym kind of stinks. Sabine Pass has a small visitors "everything". Evadale has the worst smell by far. It'll make you gag. Silsbee has the nicest I've seen 3A and under especially. That thing is great!! Iola has the worst playing surface, pissant beds, stinging weeds and hazardous fence right behind the endzone. Also, the field smells like a hog pen. Yuckie!!

  5. Best game I have seen this year. More exciting ending than the Kountze - WH game. (you had to be there) Looked like Buna had the better "Team", but EC had the bigger athletes and bigger plays. I'm glad I witnessed this one, it was awesome. Noone could predict this game. EC couldn't do anything with the Buna Line and Buna couldn't handle Thomas. The deciding factor was T. Thomas. This kid doesn't get tackled by one guy, and he IS the defense. Anyone know how many tackles he had tonight? Had to be close to 20 with 2 INT's. MAN!! That kid can go!

  6. It is both. Mainly student participation in that it teaches comradery, leadership, how to win/lose, etc. But, if winning wasn't important the program wouldn't get money for the teams participating in the playoffs. Lets not forget this is a major fundraiser for the schools. $4 a head per adult, with thousands of people showing up for the game. This has become a rich tradition, especially in the great state of Texas in which we all abide, where the kids love to play their heart out, and give it their all, and all the fans love to watch.

  7. I'm not knocking the Sharks. They have a great bunch of kids, but they are playing for pride. HD couldn't overlook them if they tried. You'll see what I mean, they just don't have what it takes to be competitive at the varsity level this year. HD by 40+. WH's JV came in with 10 minutes left in the 1st half, and it was already 37-0, and that's where it stayed. That being said, good luck sharks!  See you next week HD.

  8. All of these are great athletes, and I voted on that one that was, in my opinion, the most talented RB in 3A. But, if you like RB's that can make things happen, then just for fun, go to Youtube and type in Sam Mcguffie. He's a running back from Cy-Fair and he has some high lights. Some of them are almost unbelievable.

  9. I like who WH plays in preseason as far as Kountze, Warren, Groveton, and Hardin. I'd like to see them add Deweyville to the pre-season schedule. This was always a good game, with very few lopsided wins in their long history of playing one another. This was as close to a rivalry as WH had to HD, though Warren, Kountze and Hardin are pretty close. Also, the last 6 times or so EC and WH played, I think they split the series 3-3. This would be my second choice as a team to add. So:

    1. Deweyville

    2. East Chambers

    3. West Sabine
