The 1A DII bracket seems a little harder in the first round than the 2nd and 3rd. If WH can get passed West Sabine, they should go another round or two. Then after that, you start looking at the North and West Texas teams, and it starts getting really TUFF. Those kids must chase jackrabbits through prickly pear patches during practice or somethin.

About 15 tp 20. Iron man, baby!!

Amen!!! on that brother :) Whats up Back in the Day?
Not much big daddy. Tomorrow night at Kirbyville for sure, but what about Friday night? Huntsville, maybe? And of course... a lil' bit of what made Milwaukee famous... he he. ;D
-
I have to agree. Our boys will have to bring their "A" game against a very speedy West Sabine team. But, on the other hand, West Sabine will have to be ready to takes some licks and stop the 4 yards and a cloud of dust mentality that WH has. I think we should all stop talking smack about our fellow area teams, even rivals. Its playoff time. Go SETX!! And go Oilers!!

I'm going to have to take EC in this one, solely on them being a SETX team. You can't base one team on the way they play another one, but if you could, WH and Groveton played a game that came down to the last seconds. Groveton and Corrigan Camden played a very similar game, but I think they're a rilvalry. Either way, I'm taking the bucs by 14.
38-24 EC.

I don't think its a contrast or competition. Its a comparison, not intended to be derogatory to either athlete, but a compliment to the Johnson kid. I've watched TT several times and if this Johnson kid can be in the same thread as him, he must be special.
-
If they do play:
I'm not betting against WO-S until somebody shows me they can beat them. When Coldspring comes to play, they'll have a better chance than most West Orange has played, but I'd still take the Mustangs in a lofty 21 point spread. Great Coach + Loads of Talent + Winning Tradition = Whoa Nelly!!

This ought to be a Dandy. But, before I make a prediction, is EC healthy? This is a need to know thAng. Not because I think EC is one dimensional, but covering Marsh is a Thomas size task, IMO. Hardin is explosive and EC is an all around great team... and explosive. I'm thinking a barnburner, regardless.
Lionheart, this isn't a Kountze thread either. EC fans should read what you wrote about one player getting hurt in the HD-WH thread, and the excuses u made afterwards.
-
Kountze has really been Jekyl and Hyde this year. Against speed, they shine, but against a grind it out team, they have a little suspect. That, and well, Hardin who haven't been held under 30 very much this year. Deweyville is gonna come to play, and if they can keep Kountze from making big plays, they might be able to take this one. If Kountze can shut Deweyville down on the ground and utilize thier athletes, then Kountze will come away with the W, and possibly a playoff spot which has been a long time coming. Should be a very hard fought game, and will simply go to who wants it more. I'm gonna take Deweyville by 6 with their backs against the wall, but I wouldn't bet on it.

" Two Years ago" were talkin about now. im talkin about now. and kountze has already beat HD and evadale this year. lost to wh. Kountze had play against the Refs in that game and lost one of their key players due to a cheap shot. Most of the kountze players had their head out of the game and went downhill but if you played them right now.....kountze would win for sure....
You post some of the whiniest, most excuse laden posts I have ever heard!
One of the player's girlfriend had a pet hamster die. This took the player's head out of the game. His team mates could sense this. This, in turn, caused the players to feel bad for the girlfriend and the player. The coach, on the other hand, feared for his pet hamster so much, he couldn't call the right plays. That's why we lost, and ya'll know it. Bottom Line, We woulda coulda shoulda beat the Oilers, but..... DIDN'T. Get over it, Lionheart. This isn't even a Kountze topic.
There was a lot of smack talk, questionable calls, and after the play pushes and even a hit or two at the HD-WH game, but that's football. It went both ways, for both teams, and instead of only seeing one side of this, you have to open your eyes. Tubbs got hurt at HD, was this alone, the Oiler's undoing? Sure didn't help, but no. Is anyone blaming HD for hurting him on a dirty UFC ankle breaker? No, It happens. The Kountze and HD game were both very fun to watch for anyone who likes football. Both came down to the last second. Both were very exciting. And in both games, neither team was dominant.
This is Paul Harvey, and that's the rest of the story. Good Day.

That's good stuff, COOP!
If Mart and Alto keep it up, it looks like Mart will drop to 1A next year. That could pose a problem for one of them. I can only imagine 2 schools meeting with a 30+ win streak on the line!
-
I understand the strategy, as next year is predicted to be a "down" year for WH, but it looks like a powderpuff schedule for the Oilers with Colmesneil, Chester and Galveston O'connel and from what I've heard, no 2A's or strong 1A's.
-
Tubbs is out. He's got a broken leg and is looking at surgery. I hate to hear that happens to any kid on their senior year, or any year for that matter. I broke my leg at the end of football season and it was over a year before I was anywhere near 100 percent.
As for the Oilers, you will not be able to overlook them this year, because they will come to play hard every night. The talent level, for the team as a whole, might be a little less, but they are the district champs, until they are beaten out of it. I don't look for them to come out on top this year, but that's why they play the games, because we don't know either. Let's hope they can adjust to some major changes from last year, but lets worry about the football playoffs first!! Good luck to everyone this season and Go Oilers!!

noone in the world cares what the ignorant one aka (wise one) has to say. he doesnt know left from right
: That was so hilarious.
On the other hand, great job Kountze. Good luck to the Lions and Bucs in the games to come!

In my opinion, the celebration has gotten out of hand at the pro level. The "reason" behind football being played in intermediate and high school is to teach kids morals, sportsmanship, discipline, etc. Allowing them to taunt the other team is kind of going against all of that. Pro Football, on the other hand, is played solely for entertainment, and dancing is entertaining, I suppose. Anything to spice things up and raise ratings, even if it changes the integrity of the game.
-
Gene police! You two!! Out of the Pool!!!
...And how can you "overlook" a team you haven't beaten once in recent years (or at all for that matter)? And the last time West Hardin was in Kountze's district they were consistently going to the playoffs and coming out with a district championship to boot. This has only been 2 years guys. My my, how we do forget....
I want to let it be known that this isn't a shot to anyone from Kountze (besides the 2 on this site). I'm hoping the Lions get that playoff spot this week. Congrats to all of these teams in the playoffs.
-
Wow. I know even less about Coldspring - other than that they lost to y'all and barely beat Liberty, who only beat BC by 3!
Its hard to base opinions on how one team plays another, I've been trying to do that in my predictions all year, and it just ain't workin for me.
Congrats Indians!!

HD played a great game. It went just like I thought it would for the most part. WH marched down the field with a 4 yard and a pile of dust style, and HD had the big play guys that struck on long dashes down the field. There was no dominance here from either side, it was a 28-22 game that came down to the last posession for God's sake!! I'm not goin to whine about bad calls, or listen to whining about them for that sake, as they were bad for both sides. A few very bad key calls both ways! Played again, this game could go either way. It was a very hard hitting and intense game, with both schools playing their hearts out. Rivals always think each other have no class, that's nothing new. It was a great game, period. Very fun and intense to watch. Good luck in the playoffs guys.
On another note, HD 55 is a bit mouthy, but that's to be expected. He's a ball player, and kids will be kids. Its cool. lionheart is following WH forums around like a sick cat looking for a place to crap, jumping on the band wagon, nagging and whining over something that went down over a month ago, when WH went to that house and came out with a W. ;D It amazes me how bad that loss to West Hardin has scarred you, man.
-
Back in the day, you going to the game?
Yeah. You know what side I'll be one, and I'll be one of the loud ones! ;D You??
Good luck to both teams tonight!! Both of ya'll play your hearts... with the Oilers coming out on top, or course!
Its Football Season, Ya'll!!

2. Joe Alllen Slack { First Team All-State RB 1993 }
3. Anthony Landry { All-State DB 1975 Played for Army }
4. Eric Redfern { First Team All-State DT 1992 }
5. Ross Eckols { All-State DT 1973 }
6. Parnell Lykes { All-State RB 1776 }
7. Ed Taylor { All-State LB 1968 Played for Baylor }

9. Robert Tanner { All State LB 1979 State Champ Most Tackels in school history }
10. Paul Fregia { All-State RB 1963 }
11. Honorable Mention { Tony Thibedeaux }
Last I heard Mr. Lykes held the 2A regional record in the discus a 100M Dash. He was a Hoss. And who can forget the story about Gene Walker returning the kickoff for the TD, and getting it called back only to have it kicked to him again and going the distance consecutive times.

who cares both teams aint that good
Why are you even posting on here? Go "Whiz" somewhere else.
As far as Nederland and PNG's rivalry being much bigger, it is, very much so, when you count the number of people on the east side of Beaumont who would say so, but not in the minds of the fans and players on the Hardin-Liberty county line. Tomorrow morning, you won't hear much about the PNG Nederland Game over here, it'll be all WH-HD. When I think of the "size" of a rivalry, I'm not counting numbers. I'm basing this solely on the competitive history between 2 schools. These two teams are in complete athletic hatred of each other, but then again, they both respect and appreciate one another.

I'm gonna have to take Liberty in this one. Tarkington just doesn't seem to have it this year.

Wolfs in SETX???

I was a Sr. in high school, about 7 years ago, and we were rabbit hunting deep in the Strahan Woods, between Moss Hill and Batson. There were 3 of us. We were walking around the property when we saw 3-4 sets of eyes at the edge of the pasture along the woodline. They were low to the ground at first, but when they raised up, we were like, "my god, those things are huge!" The eyes were close to waist high, so we were thinking, lets go get us a big coyote. They didn't scare as easily as we thought, and we were able to get within 50 yards or so and we started seeing bodies. They weren't the small, dirty brown colored bodies and we expected and our hearts sank a little. We were clinging to 2 spotlights and an old .22 as we began our retreat. They didn't pursue us, or anything like that, but after we got 100 yards or so away, we heard howling start up behind us, all the while keeping our lights on the ones in front. We were all a little nervous getting away, but had no desire of shooting any of these rare "wolves" as we still call them today.
We got different reactions from our stories from believers to skeptics, but we saw what we saw, and I'll never say anything different. Its like the bragg light in Saratoga, its not dangerous, but if you go down there enough, you will see a yellowish light that can't be explained off in the distance. I'm not selling anything here, I'm just telling the truth as I know it.
