  1. Hey...are you guys related? I just thought about that for some reason. I hope all is well, my friend. It's as beautiful as ever in the Great Northwest.
  2. You're a class act, Jeff. You've got a bright future at LU and a lot of good memories of your time at BC. Good luck.
  3. Way to go Dawgs! It's been 22 years since we got this far. Let's bring it home this time...
  4. There are a few others that should have gotten consideration, too: Alex Dillard (Arkansas)-Was on the team that had Williamson, Scotty Thurman, etc. that won the title in '94 and had GREAT NBA-type range. Curtis Staples (Virginia)- DEADLY from 3. Every bit the shooter Redick was. Erik Piatkowski (Nebraska)- Prolific 3-point shooter for the Huskers that made his career in the NBA with that jumper. Fred Hoiberg (Iowa State)- See above Tommy Sewell (LAMAR)- Great perimeter shooter for the Cards in the early 80's prior to the 3-point era. Drafted in either the first or second round by the 76ers in 1984. Was on one of Pat Foster's last teams and I would argue that was the beginning of the end of Lamar's glory days that would end during Tom Abatemarco's reign as coach.
  5. It's definitely not an idea that I like. The salary that Seattle would save is getting absorbed by the other players' salary increases anyway along with rookie contracts. I'm sure they'll either sign him for just under the max (because no one else can sign him for more than maybe $11M on the market), which is around $14M. If I were going to explore trading anyone of any real substance on that roster it would be Allen because he's got a few years left in him and the Sonics need a proven PG that can play a little defense.
  6. I was surprised by Morgan's statements, too, and I'm as big a Bulldog fan as anyone here. I've known Coach Mixon since we were kids and love what he's doing in Jasper for the community and baseball program, but I'll promise you that he and all of those kids know that they have a battle like no other they've seen coming this week with the Cardinals. I wish I could be there to see it.
  7. Jasper & WO-S Say hello to the Musty Dawgs. No one could beat us and we'd be straight up stanky.... ;D
  8. They'll have the money if Lewis walks, but I'm not sure Detroit has the pieces per the NBA trading rules to make a sign and trade work. Besides, that numb-butt Fortson will be off the books, too. That's $6.6M right there and nearly $16M if Lewis decides to leave also. I'd hate to see him go, to be honest, but it's difficult to see how he and Durant would coexist. They could put Wilcox at center and do this of he does come back: PG Luke Ridnour/Earl Watson SG Ray Allen/Damien Wilkins SF Durant/Lewis PF Lewis/Durant C Chris Wilcox/ Robert Swift They could hire Marc Iavaroni, implement the Suns' system and go small. They're also looking at one of the Spurs' young front office guys as a possible GM candidate. It's gonna be fun to be here while it all gets sorted out, but I'll be really upset if they ultimately leave Seattle.
  9. I thought about that, but I'm not sure Houston has anyone that Seattle can use. The Sonics really need an upper-tier PG or C, so I'm not sure the Rockets can accommodate them. It sounds like Seattle's gonna run with Lewis, Allen, and Durant anyway...assuming that they get him to stay. The thing is that Seattle can offer him more money than anyone else can, so they'll either re-sign him or explore sign and trade options. I'd like to see them get Billups from Detroit.
  10. Yeah...but now they need to figure out what to do with Rashard Lewis.
  11. Looks like Durant is coming to Seattle. Portland would be foolish to pass on Oden...
  12. my Sonics need a top-two lottery pick tonight or there's absolutely no chance of them staying here. Oden makes them legit right away and Durant would be a great reason for the Sonics to let Lewis go...to Houston where he belongs. I know all of you Rockets fans would love that...and I want my team to stay here in Seattle. That might not happen anyway, but the only chance we have is if there's some excitement behind the team for what very well might be their final season in Seattle. People here are saying that this is the biggest non-basketball day in Seattle sports history...and the sad thing is that they're right...
  13. Jasper 50, Forest Brook 47 in the 2001 playoffs. Jasper led by at least 40 in that game (pretty early too), but had to hang on for dear life to win that game. It was unreal... ;D
  14. That was the 1980 team that you've always said was perhaps the best Jasper has ever fielded and it's the only undefeated team we've ever had (8-0-2). I still say that the 1982 team that gave up 23 points in the first 11 games was better, but our good friend Thurman Thomas ruined that year. >
  15. All Coach Brooks has to do is get the numbers in the program back up to what they were when he left. If he does, Jasper won't be down long at all and will be right there with anybody in 3A. His last team went very deep into the 4A playoffs in 2001 and I firmly believe that he can rebuild the program to close to those heights because he did it very quickly when he was here before. It probably won't happen this year, but I'm hoping that with realignment coming that we'll be able to win a district similar to this one in 2008.
  16. Well...at different times, they've been weak on both sides with the turnovers on offense and giving up big plays on defense. If those areas are tightened up some, I'd expect a HUGE turnaround.
  17. I would say OBP just because you need baserunners to score runs.
  18. Coach Brooks always seems to get the most out of what he has, but who lines up behind center and who will be the tailbacks?
  19. Yeah...not a good audio feed due to the wind, I think...
  20. Come on, man. We Jasper Bulldogs have more class than that, don't we? We're coming off of our worst season in probably 30 years, so we have no room to be talking like that whether we're winning or not. Do your talking on the field, young man. :
  21. I'm not sure what ever became of Jake. I'm sure someone down there knows something...
  22. He may be talking about Jacob Metoyer, who QB'd Jasper after Ben Bronson graduated. He still holds some of Jasper's passing records and was a phenominal athlete.
  23. Ben was a pretty good friend of mine for quite a few years growing up and you're right. He always had that "it" factor and was probably the best pure athlete in Jasper during an era that produced several players that had at least a cup o' coffee in the NFL (Ben and Zack Bronson, John and Terence Davis). A lot of people thought that baseball was his best sport, but he was also a standout in basketball and track. I think the only thing that held him back in pro football was his size. He was probably 5'10" in an era that big receivers were en vogue in the NFL. I don't know how he compares to Ricky Mitchell or Gilbert Moye, who have shined in Jasper's recent run of success, but he was pretty special in a Bulldog uniform.
