  1. I was talking to a guy that I went to school with back in the late 80's and early 90's and we're trying to figure out what has changed over the years. Back in those days, we would have blown out smaller schools like Kirbyville (and routinely beat 5a schools) and now it's tough to beat them. What has changed so much?
  2. This is not a tough one to figure out. One of Bennett's minority owners actually came out and said that the intention from day one was to move the team to OKC and everything that they've done indicates that. He's been offered around $200M from the city to upgrade KeyArena AND has an offer from a local tribe of donated land to build on if he didn't want to use the Key. From the day he set foot in this town, he demanded a $500M arena that he wouldn't put a single penny into and issued an ultimatum that he would leave if he didn't get it. He knew that the legislature had about 90 days to decide whether to put something on a ballot, which is impossible to do and takes an average of two years to get done. He made demands that are next to impossible and now he's gonna whine to Stern until he gets what he wants. I'm a Sonics fan and this really is insane. I'm not sure the city can even hold them to the lease, but at least then they can't go anywhere and it gives the locals time to come up with something that Stern will force Bennett to keep them here. His argument from the beginning was that the city didn't want the team, but I think he's finding out that's not the case at all.
  3. Coop already thinks he's the second coming. Let's not encourage him. Just kiddin', Coop... ;D
  4. I hate it too. Bring back the veer... ;D
  5. That's what I took from it, too. It's amazing how a school that has won as much as we have over the years has seemingly forgotten how to win. Once that becomes the culture, it takes a long time to get the mojo back. It's still early, but we need to find a way to beat K'ville in a couple of weeks to gain some momentum for the rest of the schedule.
  6. This just shows that it's incredibly hard to rebuild a program in one year. It was a disappointing night in general for what was widely thought of as one of the strongest districts in 3A. Congrats to the Eagles. They outclassed the Dogs tonight...plain and simple. :-[
  7. I was following everything from here last night and I have to say Bostwick doesn't look much different than I remember him back in '91 when I left and after Rita and this mess last night, you'd think it had taken a toll on the guy. I hope I age that well. He looks pretty good for 112. ;D
  8. Out of nowhere. It was basically nothing yesterday. If this thing stalls for some reason, it could be really wet for a very long time down there. That's unlikely, but it's not good that it's moving so slowly...
  9. This thing's looking more organized all the time and is strengthening very quickly. I think it might even be a minimal hurricane by landfall. It's weird how quickly all of these storms seem to be developing this year...
  10. You need to go to your add/remove programs in the control panel and delete WMP 11. Windows will ask you if you would like to roll back to your previous version and you'll go from there. Also delete the WMP 11 runtime program. Once you've rolled back, your computer will reboot. If you use Windows Update (on XP, SP2), it will ask to update your system, but you need to tell it not to install that update and not to remind you to install that update ever. If you let it update after the reboot, you're back where you started...
  11. Me too...but I figured that out a few months ago during baseball season...
  12. I think you're gonna need to roll back your media player if you use WMP 11. They haven't made their webcasting capabilities compatible with 11 yet, but you can get the broadcast on any earlier version.
  13. I do too. If they can't hold the ball, he'll find someone who will.
  14. Yikes. On the bright side, the defense played very well. If we can find a way to hold on to the football, we'll be okay. There's still a long way to go...
  15. I have coordination issues, so I hope the wagon has rails on it....
  16. I'll take Jasper by 1. The Lions whipped us pretty good last year and I'll be happy just to get a win.
  17. It seems like Jasper has had more success with the spread than anything else, but over the years we've run it, there have been a ton of fumbles, too. If we're gonna compete for the playoffs in a very good 21-3A district, that problem has to be fixed...
  18. Weatherspoon is starting at weak-side LB for Mizzou this year.
  19. Our district is gonna be fun this year. I can't remember being this pumped about district play...even back in the 80's and 90's when I was a kid there in Jasper. I just don't recall a year with 4 schools that could win it and no crystal clear favorite. It's actually interesting to not have the bullseye on our backs.
  20. You're getting on the wrong guy (not Ballfan, should be me), but I hear ya. I guess I don't understand what good it does to come on here and talk the Dogs up. We'll be fine without that. You don't want to come off looking like the kid in Kirbyville, do you? I don't want any of the kids from the school I went to make fools of themselves here or anywhere else. It just doesn't represent Jasper very well. I hope that makes sense to you. By the way, Jasperdog94 has a point. Ditch the caps. Even all lowercase looks better if you're gonna be lazy when you post.
  21. Zip it and play ball. We haven't won a game yet. When you're a player, coming on this board and making predictions means absolutely nothing. It just gives every one else something to talk about in the locker room. You need to spend more time thinking about how you can get better and less time on here making bold predictions. I hope you do well, but keep your confidence to yourself. If Jasper plays well, I'm sure other people on this board that don't play for us will have good things to say.
  22. Good to know. Having more depth should help both sides of the ball a lot...
  23. Well, it's good to know we're going to be able to score this year, but how did the defense look? We can't expect to win many games if we're still giving up 26 ppg. It would be nice to get back in the 12-15 ppg range like we used to be almost every year.
