  1. Jasper has to control the ball as much as possible to limit Silsbee's opportunities on offense and keep our defense fresh. Given Silsbee's defensive struggles, that could happen and make it a long night for them. If that scenario doesn't play out, Jasper's in trouble because we're not built to win shootouts.
  2. To be honest, I'm surprised to see Jasper in the rankings this early. Hopefully, we can stay in them, but Silsbee is gonna be ready to play next week. That's gonna be a heck of a game...
  3. Reminds me of the '85 Bulldogs. They went 4-5 and only allowed 82 points the whole season. That was the only losing season of the Walkoviak era... Edit: We went 5-6 in '93, so GW had two losing seasons in 20 years at Jasper.
  4. I didn't know that. Hopefully they're able to play games between now and then....
  5. We can practice for BYE with the best of them. They've never beat us.
  6. Both of you make good points. Maybe that week in the middle of district could be a defacto bye week so that some of the younger guys can get some snaps in a game. I don't know if that team is any good, but it would give the starters a chance to rest if they can take control of the game early.
  7. This one could go down to the wire. Thoughts?
  8. Yep. I feel your pain. Jasper has had that problem throughout its history. Tonight was a huge exception to the rule.
  9. Good question. Hopefully someone was at the game. The Bears moved the ball well at times on us, so there's a lot of work to do. Silsbee will give us a better idea of where Thomas and the defense stand.
  10. I liked a lot of what we were doing. It felt like the type of games we played when GW was running the show in Jasper...good defense and running game. Weathard is going to be tough to stop.
  11. Jasper comes out on top 25-13. Sloppy, but the defense played well...
  12. Still in the delay. Looks on radar that the storm is heading out of town. If they don't start by 9, they'll play in Jasper tomorrow at noon. (per KJAS in Jasper).
  13. I'll almost always pick Jasper, but we tend to play a lot of guys early in the season and because of that we might lose a game or two that we should win. This might be one of those games. I'll take the Dawgs in a close one, 28-24. Tatum over Arp Diboll over Madisonville Huntington over Warren Center over Rusk
  14. I didn't know we were running the Wing-T, but it makes sense since we've got a new QB and a strong running game. We'll need to milk the clock in most games and try to shorten them.
  15. Nebraska: 9-3 and much improved over last year. Mike Riley has done a nice job recruiting, so they should be just as good or better than that going forward...
  16. Haha...I stand corrected. I do my best to stay informed and my posts usually reflect that, but I totally missed on this one.
  17. That would be good for LaMarque. All I've heard for the past few years is that the Cougars weren't relevant anymore. It sucks to see traditional powerhouses go through that.
  18. That's right. You guys are still D1, right?
  19. It's all good. Hopefully, we'll get another shot at the Lions in the playoffs. Who knows? Maybe we can get you guys on the schedule at some point...
