  1. BC started out the season with the Coach regretfully saying the Cards would be lucky to even compete in the District. He was right, at that point in time; however, after the shock of the heavy graduation this team slowly but surely pulled themselves up by their bootstraps. What you see today is a confident, quick-maturing, group of sound individuals of all HS ages meshing into a potent unit. As good as Jasper is I will not at all be surprised that this upstart bunch from BC with 9 playoff games now under their belt will squeeze Jasper out and BC will return to Austin for an incredible-- 3rd time in a row.
  2. When you look at the big picture SE East Texas fans will be treated to games that will challenge the talent of the final 4 in Austin this year. Jasper and BC are both at the top of the heap in baseball right now. Let's not forget that H-J, Silsbee, & H-F were likely in the top 20 % of 3A talent across the spread of Texas 3A teams. Let's too give credit to the other teams in 21-3A for pushing these two that now represent the very best in Region III. I remember a great game out in Orangefield when the Bobcats pushed the Cardinals to the very limits and finally BC got a win by the skin-of-their-teeth. I salute all the efforts of all 21-3A teams this year. Only one team-- BC or Jasper-- will go to the final four--for the 3A State Crown but let us never forget that it was the tough District setting that built that emerging team. Who ever is that lucky representative will be backed by a host of folks from SE TXs.
  3. Good job Jeff--I liked how you paid good attention to the base runners and kept down the steals. Great effort!
  4. Specific directions to Morris Frank Park in Lufkin--coming in from Huntington side?
  5. To J_Dog: Of course you did not get to see the BC vs Carthage match up but Stringer proved superior to Carthage's Ace in last nights ballgame. Stringer struck out 12 batters; off a team that has an incredible high batting percentage. I sure don't see #2 Hudson of Dist. 20 taking out Jasper: so I believe we will see a rematch for the Region III Championship. Hopefully so anyway...
  6. But the FAT LADY cleared her throat and got ready tonight....
  7. Stringer just won it tonight what a pitching performance against a team that has mauled many teams this season!
  8. This Carthage is a fine team--it was a matter that our Ace was a little better than their Ace tonight. BC is just getting a little better as the playoffs continue. An error-less game and 8 timely hits sunk the Bulldog efforts tonight. I am still baffled at the magnitude of this win; Carthage had only given up 14 runs thus far and yet the Cardinals tagged them for 6 in just this one game, off a shocking 8 hit outing . Keep focused against this good Carthage team!
  9. The sports writers for the Orange Leader are exceptional for a small town paper! Thanks folks.....
  10. Wow, They sure did wallop Lufkin Hudson in District play! ??? Carthage Article----- Dawgs play series with Bridge City By TED LEACH DEEP EAST TEXAS - Down around Lufkin, where tall pines grow, Bridge City and Carthage will clash in a best-of-three class AAA region semifinal baseball series that promises to be magnificent in magnitude, spectacular in color and hotter than a $2 pistol, if you get the drift. The series begins Thursday at 7 p.m. at Woodville (Bridge City's home site). It will resume Saturday at high noon in Morris Frank Park at Lufkin. If a third game is necessary, it will follow game two after a 30-minute respite. Carthage (28-0) is the district 20-AAA champion and top-ranked outfit in the Texas. Bridge City (26-5) was ranked fifth in the recent poll. The Cardinals lost to Jasper by one game in the battle for the 21-AAA crown with 12-2 and 11-3 records, respectively. Carthage won by two games over Hudson, 14-0 to 12-2. Jasper and Lufkin Hudson are also in a region semifinal showdown. That winner will play Carthage or Bridge City next week for a trip to the state tournament. Bridge City returned outfielder Johnny Dishon, second baseman Troy Bolton, pitchers Phillip Meeks and Jeff String and catcher Casey Jackson from a team that was a state semifinalist before losing 7-3 to Liberty-Eylau last season. The Cardinals beat Cameron Yoe 9-5, 6-3 in the 2006 region finals to get to state. Carthage lost last summer to Liberty-Eylau in region II play. Dawgs' mentor Shaun Schumacher expects a pitcher's duel, but Bridge City knows his young guns can whack the ball at will. They had 11 hits in only four at bats to blast Cameron-Yoe, 11-1, in area play and followed with 14 hits in a 10-0 romp over Taylor in the region quarterfinals last week, 11 of which came in the final four stanzas.
  11. To Expos: Reading your post I think you might need to add a little "bran" to your breakfast cereal or maybe even some prunes--you really need flushed out. :-\ BC is in for another tough playoff game-set and will have to rise to the occasion to win. I sure hope you are just another H-J pest-- LOL-- that is still jealous and just licking their egos & sores--surely you are not from BC?
  12. What an honor Johnny!.... I was also impressed that Johnny was an Honor Student Graduate for BCHS.
  13. Sorry for the incorrect post. I read an inaccurate post on another website and relayed it without checking out the facts.
  14. I think Jasper rolls over this team which placed 3rd in 20-3A. Hudson lost to Central two games and also to Carthage two games in District. Jasper is just too strong a program to fall to this team.
  15. To Ant Ddr: Thank you for visiting this forum--we welcome you! I have a question--I know your team beat Texark Liberty-Eylua(a Region II high rated playoff baseball team) and reigning state champ. Could you tell us the scores and about those particular games? I understand that your Carthage team beat Lufkin Hudson twice in District(the third place 20-3A team that Jasper plays this week); again what was the scores? Etc:?
  16. We all are pulling for BC & Jasper to climb the ranks and tend to favor then in every game. In this case, BC has to be a heavy underdog against a team that is 10 run ruling pretty good teams along the way. This actually will be a monumental task to beat Carthage. With a lot of intelligence and excellent play--I say-- it is possible that it can be done. Remember Carthage is no ordinary 3A team; folks move to Carthage when their boys hit Jr Hi just to prepare to play for this well supported HS diamond-centered program. Many youth come there to hopefully be seen by Panola Jr. College and picked up locally after HS in a good preparatory college development program. BC has a number of youth that have stepped up as this year has progressed and if they all "hit on all cylinders" for this series--yes, it is possible. Good Luck!
  17. This has got to be one of the best games being played this next weekend--the reigning Region III Champion & final four team, two years running against the State #1 undefeated team, Carthage. Carthage was also the 2005 State 3A Champions and beat BC up in Austin at the final four. Carthage came in loaded this season and BC graduated heavy and have continued to work to build a cohesive unit capable of playing on up the bracket ladder. It should be fun!
  18. Again, Stringer followed by Treece are the best Pitchers this year. That silly poll presented without Stringer is the height of jealousy! LOL
  19. Seeing how Jason Clark handled himself with true poise and performance today into six innings at the quarterfinal level gives me confidence that BC will once again be a contender next season. Clark pitched a great game and then made a spectacular catch, while covering CF when Johnny Dishon went in to seal the coffin(closer pitching) for Needville from the mound. BC will be loaded again next season with dedicated viable players. Hicks and Clark will have plenty of help on the mound as well. Casey Jackson is having a top Junior year and should be the best at the game next season at Catcher.
  20. The Senior, Meeks at the helm set a steady course tonight. He had short term goals and one long range goal. Meeks did a great job getting even a little better in the last few innings. Needville is not a weak team at all--you have to play smart and hard to beat them. I sure hope BC can prevail tomorrow and get a shot at the #1 team Carthage.
  21. Looking at the whole situation I think they can garner wins for two good SE TXs teams. It looks like a matter of out hitting some other frequent hitting teams....Our hopes go with you guys!
  22. I was impressed with both teams tonight. They both played high-quality playoff level ball. This game had some great plays and really no mental errors or bad errors.
  23. To Occupant: I think we have all congratulated Jasper on the District win; however, your continued fanaticism is a little over the top. That event does not give an entitlement of the MVP automatically to a Jasper player. BC had to pitch Stringer against H-J to assure a playoff spot--which they did. I can assure you that Jasper would have lost the game that ended 10-8 had they had to face-- Stringer-- fresh for the whole game. I really don't think that that game should entitle anyone to the MVP of the District. Certain strategy had to be employed to get into the playoffs. I sure hope you get a shot at a fresh Stringer in the finals for Region III. Mainly because two fine teams (Jasper & BC) made it to the top of the region.
  24. This is quite impossible to pick--Jasper, HJ, BC and H-F all did not have any weak infielders. I think that this District was truly blessed with quality infielders.
