  1. Pluto: These were just "what if" situations--Jackson does have a lingering arm soreness from time to time that could slightly hamper, especially his throws to first and second. We were just playing "what if"... It is amazing that there are several viable catcher replacements on this lineup To the person from OF asking about Matt Hicks and football....Matt was in a bad car accident(at the time it was considered questionable he would be able to walk) and it is a miracle that he is able to play baseball! I would hazard a guess that no Dr. would allow him to play football.
  2. Critter, That list is a very good projection! You may well be closer in projecting what happens. One thought, There is a possibility that Jackson might have minor recurring arm problems and end up at first base, off-and-on. In that scenario I would picture Robertson Catching and Eric Matthews at third base. Who else would you see playing third?
  3. "The purpose of this thread is to get folks to imagine how THEY think the defense will look next year." Please answer who YOU think will be playing the individual defensive spots, please. I had a long conversation with a very knowledgeable Select team person who said there are some more "Hicks and Robertson types" coming along in Freshman & U ranks. He ALSO CONCURRED that the 8th graders this coming season, who have played for many years in travel ball will be just awesome, when it is time for them to find their place-in-the sun in HS ball. BC has a long history of good developmental baseball. Incidentaly, there is a little team called "Machine" around 10 years of age that have been playing together for 3 years that are whipping like-age teams in Greater Houston and Louisiana TB circles, big-time! I agree with you that there are some good JV move-ups that will be seeking these positions along with the this-years bench and the incoming Freshmen. Let's not just grip--but fill out the possible positions as you see it for next season and we will see who was the closest, OK?
  4. This is just some guesswork by someone who watched the Cards of this year. The line up could be--- Casey Jackson Catcher(Sr); Let's just put Jason Clark(Sr) on the mound; Jaden Dillon(Sr) or Anthony Cessac(Jr) on first; second base could be Dustin Breaux(Jr)-(quick as a cat); Matt Hicks(Soph-maybe All-State) at SS; Joe Robertson(Soph) a seasoned 3 base beyond his years; Now the outfield--Blake Hubbard(Jr), Blake Snyder(Jr), Eric Matthews(Jr), Anthony Cessac(Jr) and Grant Encalade(Jr)......Let's just say"Whoever consistently hits the ball.....Now remember Dustin Breaux, Jaden Dillon and Jason Clark did a great job in the outfield this season and might just end up out there again. I look for Clark, Cessac, Hicks, Robertson and one incoming Freshman to handle quite a bit of the mound duties. The purpose of this thread is to get folks to imagine how THEY think the defense will look next year. I also understand there will be several incoming Freshman that will seek starting spots, just like Robertson & Hicks did on this #2 team in ability in the state in 3A. Looking at the strength of the JV and the strong proven younger players I think BC will be in the hunt for years to come. If they can do what they did after such a strong graduation and being back-to-back final four; I would say the toughest season was this year for the Cards and they played way above the prior season expectations.
  5. Sounds like we need an early season tournament which would include say: Nederland, PNG, WB, Bridge City, Jasper and Silsbee--to settle this blind speculation. We could likewise have a like team JV Tournament at another location at the same time.
  6. Phillip, I think everyone will try to help you get recognized. K's are not as important as your unique ability to not give up the long balls. To keep excellent batters off balance like you did against Jasper in the playoff game was good. Your off-beat pitching should get someone to seriously look at you. Get on the internet and ask to send a video of your last game against Jasper, the State Champion. Get the e-mail addresses for EVERY college you can find--send your stats and the offer to send your video--good luck! Try to get a letter from one of your HS Coaches to attach also. IF YOU GET ANY BITES ASK FOR A TRYOUT OPPORTUNITY...Sent a personal handwritten letter of "thanks" to anyone who shows an interest, even colleges that are not having good records. ;D There is an old saying by Spinoza that goes, "None are more taken in by flattery than the proud who wish to be first and are not."
  7. Jason Clark BC will peak this upcoming season. OF has some Pitchers that may surprise. Also, In 4A Harrington(PNG) will be premium! It's hard to be sure because of the maturity factor and the work-ethics going on right now by many young men. Note---- added 10/16/07 ----it looks like he(Jason Clark) is peaking here in fall ball. BC pitching will be solid again this season. I think they hold the #2 spot in 3A behind Jasper to start the season.
  8. WB has their work cut out in 5A. I feel they will be playing about on the 3A level next season--too much graduation.
  9. 21-3A as a whole was incredible this year. I personally cannot think of one team in the other Regions that could have made the playoff if they had competed in 21-3A.
  10. Back in the earlier days of pro baseball a home Announcer did not like the calls by the Officials and he put the music on for "Three Blind Mice"! They came up and ejected the Announcer to the laughs of the fans of the opposing team...LOL

If Carthage can beat this team(LE) twice--with out errors; Jasper just might get ahead 10 runs again today. Jasper is peaking at the end of the season and will dominate. Well the Fat Lady is in awe as she begins singing tonight! LOL ;D
  12. #1 Jasper #2 Bridge City #3 Carthage #4 Hardin-Jefferson #5 Silsbee #6 Tex LE #7 Abilene Wylie #8 Sinton #9 Lufkin Hudson #10 Snyder

  14. Looking at the big picture I think Jasper will win state tomorrow!
  15. Boy this Jasper team is strong! So far they have made this game look like a walk in the park!
  16. BC is certainly going to miss Dishon, Meeks and Stringer. The graduation is not quite as overwhelming as last season. Look for the Cardinals to come back quite strong. Good Pitching lined up from Clark, Hicks, Cessac & Robertson and others. There will be plenty of other good players and a strong bench. An amazing year and congratulations to all of District 21-3A
  17. Boy this has come down to the Grand Final for Region III. This is kind of Jasper's nightmare in a way; they just knew they had finished BC off when they played BC in the final District game and Jeff Stringer had pitched that week against H-J. Interestingly, that game finished by Jasper winning by two points--these first two playoff match up splits ended with wins by two points also.
  18. I really think BC will represent Region III. That bold statement being said--I think the best teams up there will be BC (or Jasper) and Sinton. Carthage topped Texark Liberty-Eylau twice early on and I think they and Abilene Wylie are not quite as good as the Region III & Region IV representatives. These youth from BC and Jasper are under some great stress right now; in that each is playing against a statewide top level 3A team. LOL. The winner will perform OK up at the state final four, having survived this ordeal and getting a little rest next week..
  19. On the Pitching tomorrow evening--it probably will be either Matt Hicks or Jason Clark. I would expect to see Johnny Dishon "close" for BC. Jasper has to go with Reagan; after all he brought them to the party. If he falters look for Aaron Stevenson to come into the game.
  20. I am a little shocked that the BC Cheerleaders were included in this discussion about the choice to move & stand in front of all the older adults that were seated. The BC Cheerleader came over twice in front of the older BC FANS and lead one cheer(20 seconds) between innings and then went back over to the student section--folks that is what all school's Cheerleaders have done for many decades. That activity was not: rude and inconsiderate.
  21. That would be neat! I think these teams that made it last year are still capable of returning this year.
  22. When I read that statement I was a little taken back! I did not see anyone with dominance in 21-3A at the end of the year. Neither Silsbee nor H-J beating Jasper;likewise, did not "prove their dominance". That District race came down to the final line because of strong teams. Sorry Morgan but you will have to prove your dominance once again--but this time that little re-vamping team of leftovers from a BC big graduation are a lot more battle tested having edged some excellent playoff teams. Some towns have a good team every once in a while: while other towns like BC see a possible heavy graduation sinking their chances of climbing to the top of the heap only occasionally. In this case BC has rebounded really well against all odds. You will soon see a BC team that plays very fundamental baseball at this time of year.
  23. To Ballfan: I think you may not have noticed but the BC High School youth were standing around having given up their seats to older people. The girls were playing a scrimmage game with Barbers Hill and many fans were over there at BH also. When we play at Lamar's stadium where there is plenty of room to seat people you will see the displayed enthusiasm of the BC student body. Sorry Jasper folks have to drive 35 minutes longer than the BC folks; this is the only stadium big enough to seat BC & Jasper followers this time of year.
  24. To Sharkb8er: Can you tell us some details and impressions that you had upon playing Carthage two times?
