  1. To The Real Deal: Seriously, please fill out the 1-15 teams from across Texas. If you really feel that H-J is the #1 team that is perfectly fine....
  2. Well here goes--and remember this is not to gripe about someone else's poll , but to enter your own LOL #1 Carthage #2 Sinton #3 Texark. Liberty-El. #4 Falfurrias #5 Bridge City #6 Lufkin Hudson #7 Wharton #8 Jasper #9 Lubbock Cooper #10 Needville #11 Snyder #12 Silsbee #13 Columbus #14 Hutto #15 Bellville
  3. I think it was a poorly called game from behind the plate, period! In the future this unique hard fought game will be called, "The BC/OF game WITHOUT a strike zone". Most of the "walks" were not the Pitchers fault; it was just very poor officiating.
  4. Sounds like Bridge City, Jasper, Silsbee. H-F and Hardin-Jefferson-- rank as by far the strongest District setting in 3A baseball!
  5. To Baseball_1989: Sir it did happen! He hit it over the left field fence and it hit on center-top of the AD building some 100 feet or more behind the outfield fence. Good guess, it was 485 feet, In all of BCs rich history that hit ranks with ones by Jerry Gibson 1958, Stephen Worster 1966, Willey Hayes 1969, Kim Bryant 1972, and Eric Johansson 1992. Johnny Dishon is destined to excel in the Pros.
  6. I have seen him murder the ball in a number of scrimmages-great athlete. Travel ball exposure has given him nationwide exposure! He has turned down some lower-pay Pro offers thus far. He appears to be hoping good college performances will give him even better offers.
  7. Congratulation to Jeff Stringer and the Cardinals. Stringer gave up less hits and had more strikeouts--the best Pitcher usually leads his team to a win!
  8. For a long time all I heard out of Silsbee was how they would mop the floor with Bridge City this year. Lately I have not seen all those strong confident statements from the Tigers. Are you still sure of an easy Silsbee win?
  9. Those two ninth graders--Hicks on the mound and Robertson behind the plate were more than impressive this evening. They both have HRs this year, WOW. Those year round programs are producing some quality quite complete players at young ages. BC again has a quality team and a real future with the feed programs in place. Sulphur(4A) was swamped but came back at the last to lose by only a score of 10-6. It will be a good final game by two of the better teams representing each state.

Congratulations! I see you were chosen as making the most inaccurate sports post in baseball for this month. Voted by people who know and care about accuracy in baseball information..
  11. WHAT A JOKE ALL THE TRASHING OF BC. They were great under Chuck Young, Sam Moore and now under Bryant. Some of the best long-range baseball around for nearly forty-five years. Hid and watch as the season develops!
  12. I have no problem with a tie against Lufkin Hudson! Remember all the football players go to Lufkin High and somehow in about the 9th grade all the baseball players end up at Lufkin Hudson. Every year they are going to be a power in BB. I hear that Lufkin Pollock Central have the next best group from the Greater Lufkin outreach.
  13. All I have heard was how awesome Silsbee is--What word is better than awesome? Maybe that word could be ascribed to Vidor!
  14. BC pitched Hicks, Cessac, Bolton & (closer)Dishon Had they pitched Meeks and/or Stringer there would have been few hits, I guarantee! But Hudson is ranked 7th on one poll so they may come along later. I have watched BC with their Freshmen and Sophomores pitching at early scrimmages each year; trying to get the ball in-play to work the defense--this was a typical early BC scrimmage.
  15. Stringer and Meeks performed very well deep into the playoffs. The Stringer--- No-No against Barbers Hill was a classic-to go along with his 5 other wins. Phillip Meeks pitched a lot and very well all year. His closers, especially the one deep against Cameron Yoe was exceptional. I saw Johnny Dishon close against Lufkin Hudson at the scrimmage this week throwing a steady 91 mph--I don't think Silsbee has anyone to match that fireballer. I can remember anyone even fouling a ball--all strike outs--Congrats to Johnny. Remember 2nd baseman Bolton had 3 wins pitching also last year. Was there a reason Silsbee did not make the final four play?
  16. There is a new site at-- www.Texas3AFootball.net --that has a Baseball Poll. 3A Baseball Poll 1. Texarkana Liberty-Eylua 2. Carthage 3. Sinton 4. Falfurrias 17. Yoakum 5. Bridge City 18. Crockett 13.Cameron 14.Jasper Comments? 15.Robinson 16.La Grange
  17. There is always the factor of luck--good or bad, to consider. Personnel wise, they have a team with all the elements including pitching--Phillip Meeks, Johnny Dishon, Bolton, and Jeff Stringer. These are deep bracket playoff veterans from the last couple of years--savvy counts! You also have three players who may skip college and go Pro straight from HS-Dishon(Sr), Casey(Jr) & the 9th grader Hicks.
  18. 1. Bridge City 2. Nederland 3. PNG 4 West Brook 5. Lumberton 6 Orangefield 7. Silsbee 8. Vidor 9 Hardin-Jefferson 10. tie-- Ozen, H-F,Huffman
  19. Bridge City is absolutely loaded this year. They needed one player and a great 9th grader, HR hitter(Hicks)-- fills the bill. Phillip Meeks was a tough closer all last year even deep into the playoffs. The JV can whip a lot of Varsity teams.
  20. Jeff Mathews is a top level caring man with a heart for all kids and all sports. If he is not available I hope they go outside the area to find someone who can administer a whole program.
