  1. I am hoping that the right Coldspring Trojans show up tonight.  I would love for my Trojans to win the 7th straight District Championship, but it will be tough.  Home field advantage, senior leadership will favor the Woodville Eagles.  In order for my Coldspring Trojans to win they will have to be clicking on all cylinders, play for 4 full quarters, have minimal penalties, and the defense has to play the game of their life.  It will be a good game.

Yes Barbay is not a politically correct coach.  Last names mean nothing to him. Titlments and politics do not work in his system of putting the best kids where they need to be and expecting hard work.  I bet Newton is kicking themselves right now.

At this comment, I just have to ask you this question: are you even from Coldsprings? If not you do not have any idea, or knowledge of what happens in that particular football program

  3. Thanks for your response @Ragin Cajun!! I am glad Coach Barbay is working out for the Newton Eagles. He was a great coach while he was at Coldspring. Wish you guys the best. I just think the players, fans, & parents did not buy into his system & did not respect him anymore. I am glad he is working out for Newton Eagles!! Good luck in the playoffs we are rooting for you & wish you the best

  4. I agree somewhat with you @idk.  You are right that the people in Coldspring are not happy.  I do not know if they will make a coaching change this year but the people of Coldspring are surely getting restless.  If I might rightfully say so I do not agree with your statement regarding Coach Barbay.  I am from Coldspring & a change was needed because the decorum and behavior being displayed was not appropriate for the kids.  I really do not know if they kids would be any better with Coach Barbary there. Barbay was a good coach.  I guess the people felt like it was time for a change, I know some of the kids miss him.   All I can say being politically correct as possible, is that just because a well oil machine appears to run smoothly does not mean that there are not cracks under the surface.  I never saw Coldspring more disciplined and focused than when we had the Great Late Ed Peveto as head coach.  We need a coach with his mentality and infrastructure for the kids.  I  enjoyed your feebdack  @idk.  If offers a new perspective on Coldspring Football

  5. Good topic @TexasPanther2012, this is a very interesting question.  I think that playing a school for 5-6 years in a row with close games represents a rivalry.  I thought that Liberty vs. Anahuac was a rivalry, because you both have the same school colors and mascot.  Also, I figured the close proximity of the school would make it a rivalry, in the past the games btw the 2 schools have been really interesting.

  6. Hello big daddy, no disrespect taken at all!! I like your analysis of the games bc the only game I have been able to attend was the Crockett vs. Coldspring game. I had to leave at halftime bc I had a 12 hour shift to work the next day.

Your absolutely right about the shepherd game. I was livid to know we lost to them but I was more frustrated in the manner. 33-7 halftime lead shaking my head. The defensive adjustments were not made & the stops were not being performed. But you have to admit shepherd is a much improved squad.

Second the liberty game, I anticipated we would lose. Big daddy but the Liberty panthers are an awromen team & are playing on a different level than any of the team s in our area

  7. Coldspring lost 3 starters.  We are in a tough district this year since dropping a classification from 4a to 3a.  I think we might get third or fourth.  I expect Hempstead, Trinity to contend for the district title.

Also I have family from Kountze.  My cousin is Keithan Hancock,  I think your right about T.J. Sanford (a cousin) is one of the purest shooters I have ever seeb,  Also, you are correct in you cannot replace a caliber player like Grayland Arnold.  I think Koutnze just reloads every year.

Hitchock is surely a team not to sleep on.  LaMarque will be a prime contender in this region and could easily represent Region 3 at State.

  8. I agree with the above posts!! Madisonville always plays Shepherd hard.  I have friends from Madisonville even though I am a die heart Trojan.  It seems that madisonville has been in most of the games up until the 4th quarter.  I think they will play a complete game and pull of the upset.

Woodville isn't blowing Coldspring out.. And if anyone would like to bet on that toss out some wagers ...

Thanks, at Tmfan06, for sticking up for my Coldspring Trojans, it is truly appreciated from everyone in Coldspring!!! I am agree with you I am willing to wager.  First, I would like to know the strength of Woodville Eagles pre-district schedule? The Coldspring Trojans pre-district schedule was brutal, it had me doubting if we could just get 1 win, I am being totally honest.  I have only seen our team play against Crockett, I was thoroughly unimpressed with my Trojans, they seem to lack the "swagger" of our past teams, they seem a bit timid.  I just want to enlighten Woodville89 that we scored 3 touchdowns in either 70 secs or 90 secs against a very good Liberty Panther team in Liberty, Texas which was a tough place to play in.  Second, our game is Week 10, we are focused only on the game this week which is against the Trinity Tigers.  We have motto in Coldspring "Day by day".  Third, both teams have to play a very good Buna Cougar team in Buna, lets not over look this team.  Fourth, at Woodville89 can you please and thank you can you show us just a little respect for my Coldspring Trojans, we are the 6-time defending district champs from old 3A to new 4A division 2, if you think the Trojans will bow down to the Woodville Eagles think again.  This maybe not be a "Mighty Trojan Team" like in past years but this team has a spirit that wont give up, prime example the Liberty game. People predicted we would lose 40-0 some of our own fans, but the point is this team never stops playing until the clock hits 00:00.  Lastly, in the event that both teams happneded to be undefeated at Week 10, just know the whole town of Coldspring will invade Woodville that night.  You all might beat us but it will be a fight to the finish.  This years team goals are different than past years.  Their main focus is on keeping the district championship streak alive at this point.

  10. Hello fellow bloggers, it has been a couple of days since TrojanMoJo blogged.  I have been working!! I am just getting a chance to look at these blogs.  I am going to address each one individually and collectively as a group.  First, kudos to the whole group for allowing a lady to blog with a lot of guys who surely know football, and having shown myself some nettique love,  It is truly appreciated.  Enough of that, the topic at hand, is is Coldspring evenly matched.  My blog seem to spark a few responses, I am glad.  First I like to thank Aggies WE are one for the huge compliment to my Coldspring Trojans!!!  Also thanks to Ryker 144, and 97mfan06, as well as Woodville89

  11. Yes at eagleswoodville#1 the Trojans and the Eagles are more evenly matched.  The Trojans have had to work out kinks in their defense pre-district matchups!!! Coldspring has always been known for having some speedy running backs.  The Woodville Eagles for years have speed which was displayed on the football field as well as the track arena.  The Trojan team this year has an large amount of underclassmen therefore that explains some of the mental slip up that have occurred earlier in this season I believe.
