Shon was 5 ft nothing weighed 150sumn, hit 8 homeruns at McNeese that season with only 3 errors... amazing baseball player, but an even more amazing person! Tony Dallas - simply put, dredded seeing him toe the rubber against you... you brought rosary beads to the on-deck circle for the ball came out his hand with violence and not many were able to make contact. A shame his career was cut short at Panola due to arm issues for he was a very successful and reliable arm in high school. A good man who is still in the Orange area giving back to the game. His 2 boys will probably make an impact on the playing field as well at WOS or LCM when they enter high school. John Patterson simply put, brought more attention to High school athletics in Orange Tx, on a national scene, then anyone from the Orange area. His talents had Major League Baseball following him from th time he got out the car in the parking lot onto the pitching rubber... Derek Blacksher, good high school player, but may have done more for himself after high school at Panola and McNeese State(#1 arm in rotation for Southland Conference Championship Team) and then to the Florida Marlins and now in independent baseball still living the dream. [/quote] That's why you can't just automatically flip and think you have the schedule figured out.  That will get you most of the games, but then you have to worry about whether Saturday games move to Friday, Friday games move to Saturday and the like. To answer the question, most of the schools post their schedules just before the end of the school year and most have them up by beginning of July.

The Williams you are talking about is Eric, who went to UT.  You also have Kerry Franks, Sr., who like Anderson went to Okie State.  Kendall went to LSU.  Brian went to Georgia. I'm not sure of any more D1 backs (Gasilla, griff or td would know if there are more), but there have been plenty of solid backs who probably got DI-A or JC scholarships like Scottie Littleton, Terrence Brown, Jelmar (?) Rhodes and the Garrett boys.  Not to mention guys like Bruce Aven, who probably would have played some college ball if he had not signed to play pro baseball. Let me just put it this way, if Coach Hooks and Coach McCarty had to put together a team of WO-S alumni, depth at the running back position would not be a problem.

Oh, I have no doubt that ratings were higher.  Because by having the venues consolidated FOX and the UIL were able to control THE TIMES that these games went off.  Even as the UIL had controlled the sites of the 5A title games the last few years, it was not able to control the TIMES of the games from 4A on down which meant that the biggest competition, the other title games where prospective viewers would have been.  With the "single site" method, the neither the UIL or FOX had that worry.  The Mansfield games didn't interfere because 1) they didn't have teams from the markets that McNabb is crowing about and 2) FOX made sure that crowd stayed home by putting the Mansfield games on the net, having a lot of folks with one game on the laptop and the others on TV. I wonder if the folks from Coldspring (and Carthage for that matter) that weren't able to make the game because they were able to make the a 4:00 p.m. Friday game and the folks from La Marque who were unable to fit the 4 hour trip late on Friday (probably parents some of them) thought that the "single site" and the "increased mystique" of the game thought it was worth it.

La Marque has been rumored to have been moving down for the last two realignments.  In fact, it was supposed to be a lock to happen this past realignment.  So until it happens, I won't hold my breath.
