SETX Girls High School Soccer Schedule - Regional Quarterfinals
WOSgrad replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Soccer
Is it 6 or 7, J? I only ask because I noticed that this looks to be the second half of a double header with the North Shore boys, whose game starts at 5. -
Oh really? Well, I guess that Yahoo Sports also hates Tony Brown or was bored: [Hidden Content] Sports Illustrated as well: [Hidden Content] CBS Sports, Rivals, et al all ALL JUST HATE TONY BROWN as on the weekend of a major NCAA championship being determined, these news outlets had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BETTER TO DO than to take up man hours and bandwidth to report about Tony Brown and his potential suspension. Look, if you don't want bad things reported about an Ozen alum, I would suggest that you get in touch with Mr. Brown and let him know that he needs to stop the actions which seem to end him up in the NATIONAL media in a negative light on a regular basis. After all, if those acts or omissions never occurred, this thread would not exist.

Tony Brown facing indefinate suspension from the NCAA
WOSgrad replied to prepballfan's topic in College Sports Forum
As Tony is now the a member of the Crimson Tide, this thread probably belongs in the College Football forum. It will be there for viewing. -
Any word on his progress?

Well, let's back the train up a little bit. I don't know know if you are trying to say that the purchase of a turf field is a one time only cash outlay, because if you are, both you and I know that is not the case. These fields, like their grass counterparts, need regular maintenance (usually by a professional company as the school districts have no one with the expertise to do so) and replacement (just ask the folks over in Port Neches who had to rip up their new Reservation turf after only one year and replace it). Now, I won't disagree that maintenance costs probably decrease with the insertion of a turf field, but to imply that there are none feeds the same ignorance that you decry. I will agree with you that in some cases such an expenditure is necessary and the example that you give in Silsbee is a prime one. There are some cases where it makes sense in order to preserve facilities that are already in place. Silsbee and West Orange-Stark chewed that field up back in 2009 and many feel that field is just beginning to recover...some think it still hasn't. Cases like that call for a need for a new turf. I would caution against lauding the carrot of playoff venue revenue as a payment for any artificial turf. Aside from BISD, can you name me a school district east of the Trinity that has hosted a playoff game after installing turf? Although I am certainly subject to correction on this, I can't recall one. There are many legitimate benefits to converting to a "field turf" field. It is just that the ability to crow "Hey, look at us! We have turf!" isn't one of them.

No, it is a team of underclassmen that are playing a varsity schedule (or at least trying to) for the next two years before they join a UIL district in 2018. They are aligned into 23-5A in basketball.
-
Well, if they are willing, I am sure that WO-S is. Maybe they can make this game work.
-
WO-S already has Week 2 and Week 4 filled. I had heard that at one time WO-S and Silsbee were both trying to get other Week 4 opponents in order to move their game (scheduled for Week 4) to Week 5, but at least one of them (and perhaps both of them) were unsuccessful.

We must forgive those who insist on viewing life through a prism. I know that as it stands now, I know that WO-S' non-district schedule is: Week 1 - Nederland Week 2 - LC-M Week 3 - Bridge City Week 4 - Silsbee Week 5 - OPEN Week 6 - Kennedale What does the district portion of the schedule for the Mustangs look like?

Prayers for a speedy and uncomplicated recovery.
