The future is bright for the Kountze Lions!

Kountze was at 26 up until last year. 

Spoke to at least a half dozen “basketball guys” at the Delmar today, NONE of whom are affiliated with either school.  Most were at the game, two were veteran referees.   ALL agreed it was a bad call and most said it is a call you just can’t make regardless.

Yeah with the big man on the bench early in the second with 2 fouls I imagined that would happen 

The only thing I don’t know is what Courtney told his kids coming out of timeout.  For instance, LCM’s Jeffcoat has a foul to give against Diboll and had his kids use it expertly to leave Diboll only .1 seconds to try to get up a shot down 1 pt.  I’m sure if Courtney told them that option he said make sure he’s not shooting. But if a kid gets contacted and then makes an upward motion, it’s not expected they will get a shooting call violation.  That could literally happen on every foul (and some kids try it wisely and RARELY get that call).   We don’t have continuation fouls obv in HS.  
That’s what makes the call the most egregious to me.  Deciding a game on a call you have to struggle to even make in that situation.  Folks have justified it on this thread and I get it.  But it’s bush league and horse$&$$ and no ref worth his salt EVER makes that call.

Two things:
1)  Was Rival’s privy to Hayden’s performances against the “Big 3”?  Surely that was one of the most important factors from a recruiting service as prestigious as them.  
2)  Where in the world did these three play summer ball?

I don’t know what you’re seeing but there’s two angles.  I agree he leaves the floor (going backwards not up) when a player runs into him.  He didn’t get a shot off, up or otherwise because he chose to pump fake with 1.1 seconds left.  Gets a player flying into him with approx .2 seconds left and then falls backwards and loses the ball out of bounds after buzzer.  Trying to find a shot in there is just trying to find a shot in there.  I would argue that without the time factor, still is an awful call because there was NEVER a shooting motion, prior to or during the foul.   Only way the kid goes to the line is if it’s a bonus situation, which it wasn’t. 

One game at a time! Kids are playing at a very high level defensively! 

I think it was the perfect call. Kid got the defender in the air and jumped into him with a shooting motion.

Foul maybe.  Shooting foul no.   Player pump fakes, gets fouled and drops ball.   At best, Tompkins gets an inbound from corner with .2.  Botched and botched horribly. 

Never underestimate the heart of a Lion?  Good stuff Kountze!

Bump. Smdh.. playoff basketball is a different animal and the Lions show year in and year out why that rings true. 

I grew up there. And honestly a lot of times it’s kids that move away and come back in High School. But we have gotten a couple . I’d like to say no more than any other school that has a successful program though.

I wonder why Kountze isn’t in the HJ Marathon this year?

Orangefield is not a bad team. A bit of a match up problem for EC.

I now call shenanigans on that whole tournament.  I am embarrassed to say how many games have shocked me in 2 days in Dallardsville...
