Dude there is no way in heck that a team wins by 100 and you call it not running up the score. A win by 50, 60 , maybe 70 points happens all the time, but a freaking 100? That's running up the score any way you look at it. 123-23? Do you call this a a nail bitter? Thriller? Last second clutch victory? Kountze could have suited up their girls team and team managers in the seconf half and still won by 40.
Yes, there is a way.  There is a difference between a lopsided victory and running up the score.  Kountze sat in a zone and did not press all game. What would like for them to have done?  Intentionally throw up airballs every trip down the court?  Play ole! defense and just let them go right past you?  Maybe just put the ball in the freezer the entire second half? It is obvious that you need a detective because you haven't a clue of what you are talking about.
This guy needs help. BADSANTA, Kountze was in a 2-3 zone the ENTIRE 2nd half and did not press! What more would you like them to do? Put yourself in the shoes of a "reserve" player finally getting some game action only to have the coach tell you "hey, take it easy on 'em!" What coach do you know who will do something like that?!

Maybe Mike can text you a score or maybe he can post. The mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Yeah, he is in a middle of a broadcast (or trying to get one going), but he will stop and text and post. You can't fix stupid.
*rotflmao* Yall are crazy!  :D :D :D

 4. Here's a quote from a poster on another sports site (Smoaky.com) for the critics of yesterday's outcome:
"Hemphill was not great. Kountze was in 2-3 zone entire 2nd half and did not press. They ran defense very well and just outplayed them Nothing classless in this game "
5.
100 point win means that you TRIED to keep playing aggressive. I know they could have stalled the ball or just shot 3 pointers. Joubert knows this looks bad.
Hypothetically speaking from you assertion, what if the 3-pointers that you're suggesting they shoot were all going in?  ::)

Not doubting that he is good, but how can you say that he is NOT NEEDED???
:D :D :D Come on, stall him out Lazeek!  :D :D :D
 7. I'm not sure if anyone on the board was at the game but I can assure you that Joubert would not "run up the score" on anyone. From what I hear, Hemphill was bad. The only thing a coach can do when the game gets out of hand is take his players out of the press. There is no reason to tell your reserve players to "take it easy".

 10.
KHSAlum400 usually you and I are pretty close on Kountze but right now they look like an army without a general. They still beat most teams with their pressure defense but don't have anyone who can step out and consistantly hit the 3 now.The coaches keep looking for the senior to step up and takeover the leadership role but that hasn't happened either.Disciplined teams like EC and even Evadale will play them tough and even beat them if they don't turn the ball over.Kountze is also the smallest this year that I can ever remember them geing.
Good point. It doesn't look like Zay will step up this year and be the leader. If anything, I believe the SOPH PG J.Powell shows more leadership on the court. The team I was on was smaller than that when we were 3A and still went to State.  ;) It's all about team speed and pressure defense. We used our defense to fuel our offense. Something that's ironic about me speaking on making adjustments about Linn being out, is that they'll have to make additional adjustments when he returns just before the last week of district play.
 11. Conditioning maybe. They could also use these games to prepare for district and "situational-plays". I really don't know. They could let their starters rest the whole tournament and still win this one.
 12.

Kountze beats EC by 10+ both times. Linn went down the night before EC/KTZ played in the H-J tournament. Kountze had to find a way to make-up for the loss of Linn "on-the-go" so there was no practice time to make an adjustment.
They beat EC 82-79 on a neutral floor and still haven't recovered from losing Linn. You know EC is a tough out at home.
Yes, they haven't recovered, but they've adjusted, that's the point I'm trying to make. It's hard to make adjustments overnight and you have to believe that had an effect on Kountze.

 14. I disagree. No way EC beats Kountze this year, and definitely not at home. Yes, they played them close in the H-J tournament, but Kountze faltered after Linn went down in that tournament. They're still adjusting to playing without him, but have played better. We're going for our 16th consecutive district championship. Not to mention we haven't lost a district game at home since January 2000.
 15. Kountze score was 94-57
i'm glad a team finally came along that was good enough to exploit this team.  it's a shame that as good as they are that they only know how to play one type of basketball.
How did they exploit them? All they did was break their press the whole game. I'm sure every team on their schedule practices breaking presses, so there was really nothing to exploit. Findlay Prep was just better.

 21. This game would have been a million times better last season!
You beat me to it. I guess we need to play 4A/5A teams now to get ready for district and playoffs.
Well, I know you were probably digging a little, and thats OK.  But sure! Kountze has one heck of a basketball tradition and I'd dang sure be playing up...way up if needed.  With Kountze its not about getting ready for district its about getting ready for the drive to Austin!  Leggett, Goodrich???   No way ranked teams in Div II 1A should even be considered.  I'm just making an observation.
In the past 4 years Leggett AND Goodrich have both been STATE semi-finalist in their respective classification. I would understand your observation more if we played just ANY 1A school, regardless of ranking. As mentioned before, outside of H-J and Silsbee on the 3A level in SE Texas, no one offers any competition. I myself wouldn't know if Joubert attempted to schedule any 4A teams in the area, but I do know that in years past, it was difficult schedule those 4A/5A teams for their fear of losing to a "2A" team. Now that I think of it, you asked about Kountze scheduling lower classified teams and getting nothing out of the game. How do you think those 4A/5A schools feel when asked about scheduling Kountze, a team 2 or 3 classifications lower? Would you then be asking them the same question?
