I guess to put this crap to bed, most judge being the best in the area would mean playing the best. Back in the day, this is how it was measured. Nowadays, I don't know what the heck is going on, like boxing ducking & dodging the competition. No disrespect to Big Ned, but all the talk of steaks & dominance; the word on the street is the challenge has been made. I know the Nederland Coaches have heard. Now you don't have to prove anything, or do you?? I consider PA & surrounding areas as the Best, so my Son competes against these guys often. We seek the competition. So I say to Big Ned, Don't talk about it, Be about it. JMO

After years of idolizing the nearby football program, PA fans finally convince PAISD to accept their proposed high school name change. That's right folks, beginning with the 2015 football season the PAM Titans will officially be renamed:

South Nederland Titanic Bulldogs!

Furthermore, many thanks go out to such relentless efforts from key advocates, mighymouse490 and Mr Buddy Garrity so we will be honoring them with the coin toss and their own bobble-head night at the first meeting of these two new rivals in the seasons very first "scrimmage" of the 2015 season!

...and in other news, rumor has it that coug14 is leading a similar quest at a NE Houston area high school. Word is the proposed new name is West Nederland CatDogs! More to come on this story...

Smdh... that you started this thread about "scrimmages", c'mon man, "scrimmages"! Winners/losers, who cares!! Want to talk about how players look, strong areas of teams, weak areas of team, OK, but winners/losers, it's a scrimmage!! Smdh twice!!

There are other teams in district, BUT as for now, there is only one undefeated district champion. Period. End of story. Don't need a mirror to see that

To quote head WOS football coach Cornel Thompson in today's Beaumont Enterprise when talking about his team's performance in the Nederland scrimmage, he stated this:
 
"It's a scrimmage, a practice against strange faces," Thompson said. "Fumbling is unacceptable, but it is a practice. If it was a game, (Lapoint) wouldn't have got that far and he knows that.

From my boys view they call it adjustment game, a time to make mistakes learn from them. A time to give younger varsity players a feel for the game. A chance to see who learned and can play this game.

When nobody on your team is hurt in a scrimmage, you win. When you see what you wanted to see in a scrimmage, you win. When you get to make necessary adjustments in a scrimmage, you win.

Sometimes everybody is a winner. Sometimes nobody is.

6A PA Memorial plays one 6A school in non-district (Houston Lamar) and three 5A schools (Central, Ozen and George Ranch).
 
5A Nederland plays two 5A schools (Crosby and Dayton) and a 6A (Clear Lake).
 
All things relative, Nederland plays up more than Memorial.

We'll take that under advisement in Nederland... but the only numbers that win games are the ones on the scoreboard, and they nobody gets points for returning starters. Nederland is rolling with about 6-7 sophomores starting or logging significant playing time, but they are there for a reason.

Hey i just made the topic because i am a former Bumblebee and remember the games against Nederland. And now I am a Bulldog would love to see them play Memorial which is a third Bumblebee blood. Just thought it would be a better scrimmage than Livingston

So beating Central last year was luck? Is it still luck if you beat Central 3 or 4 years straight? Hmmm ... well, here's to luck..ha ha if that's what your calling it now.  I call it a quality team.  Things can change year to year, but the last 3 have been quite well for us.  Looking forward to seeing how this year, and the next, and the next and so on goes for the DOGS.  Nothing lasts forever, but it is fun to see them do well and have good seasons.  Isn't that what fans from other schools want to see from their teams as well.  PA bumps their gums a lot and disrespects what our program has accomplished over the past several years .... at least that is how it appears to me. Y'all whine about wanting to play little 'ol Nederland so much ... I wonder why you aren't wanting to play better talent in your own classification? I sure don't hear you asking to play KATY TIGERS !  ha ha and why is that?

So many things can and will change by the time we play Crosby. The dogs looked good Friday night with such a young O line. As the line improves so will the QB.

Good progress for both teams in their first scrimmage.
 
Nederland's QB looks pretty good. He didn't have many good passing opportunities, but he showed poise and ran the ball well. They've gone back to their offense from past years...mixing the short passing game, spread formation, a little bit of misdirection rushing plays...not the power running game from the last 2-3 years. They don't look to be as good as the last two seasons, but also didn't show as much drop off as some people might expect. Their QB showed the kind of poise under pressure that will help them in close games.
 
WO-S has holes to fill in the front seven of their defense. Overall they looked good. The secondary is further ahead than the D-line and LBs, but as a whole it looks good at this early stage. The offense was encouraging in spite of the fact that they coughed up the football four times (to zero for Ned), and that contributed to a couple of Ned FGs. Also, the offense had one TD called back, three long passes that were dropped...all of which would have been TDs. One more was slightly overthrown that would have added another six points. These mistakes will be cleaned up over time. The passing game is in good shape. The top two tailbacks have speed and ran well. Mustang fans have plenty to be excited about for 2014.

nederland kids did  a outstanding job on blocking on WOS  DEs good job young men. over the years that has been one of the mustangs strong points your QB did a good job on reading his blockers and he has a strong arm to go along with other skills he has  GOOD LUCK

WOS has a nice squad. Three good RBs if they hold onto the ball. Very good WRs. I really like their QB. Ned looked good for a 1st scrimmage for a very young team with a bunch of question marks coming in. No injuries that I saw was the best news for both teams.
