Woodville had this game in hand from the start. Tarkington kept the game close for a while, but you had the feeling from the start that Woodville had complete control of the game. Last year Tarkington beat Woodville at Woodville's homecoming. I think Woodville thought they would return the favor to Tarkington at Tarkington's homecoming and Woodville did. I think Woodville's speed was once again the big factor in their win.

If your talking broadcasters, in high school in Texas it would be Dallas Houston who has done Brownwood football for years. They have even had him on shows like Texas Country Reporter. As far as the greatest of all time I think it would be Kern Tips who used to do the game of the week in the Southwest Conf.

Woodville has a man named Charles Seay who did sports for about 30 years on big market radio stations and is really good.

The Berry Center at Cy-Fair ISD is a great stadium. They also have a great basketball arena in the same complex that seats 6,000.

Woodville got off to a real slow start due to penalties and a fired up Shepherd team. Woodville found themselves in the second quarter and closed the gap 13-7. The second half was all Woodville as they scored 42 unanswered points. After Woodville went up 28 to 13 the Shepherd players really seemed to lose heart. I don't have stats in front of me, but Adam Rigsby, Paul Price, and Stephen Williams all had big nights running the ball. Adrian Williams had a real good night at WR.

Looking at the 4A districts above, anyone with less than 1020 will probably be in 3A next go round. My brother is a prinicipal at Brownwood and that is what they have been told. As it stands now Brownwood will be in 3A next time.

I think it is more the community being against it, plus do you realize how far they would have to travel for games, unless some more schools in this area played 6 man.

They are much better this year. They have two real break away backs and a pretty good offensive line. They also have a Barbay coaching them, which will make a lot of difference in how they play.

The worst injury I have ever personally seen was in a soccer match between Langham Creek and Klein. Two player hit going full speed for the ball. You could actually hear the Langham Creek player's knee explode. The young man ended up having surgery two different times because of that collision.

As one of the reporters in the press box said, last night speed kills. That was the name of the game. Splendora is a real big team, but slow.

A few stats from last nights game. Adam Rigsby carried 21 times for 205 yards and 2 tds. Quarterback Stephen Williams carried 10 times for 185 yards and 4 tds, plus was 2 of 4 passing for 43 yds and 2 tds. Adam Rigsby also had 1 td receiving. Woodville had 508 yds rushing and 43 passing. WR Adrian Williams had 1 reception for 20 yds and a td.

Woodville 53 Splendoria 21. We were having trouble with equipment during game and could not post scores. Woodville's speed was to much for Splendoria tonight.

Chester plays their first game Sept 14 against Simms Bowie. It looks like to me there are enough small schools in this part of the country to have some 6 man districts.

Some west Texas schools travel more than 300 miles for one game. Example San Angelo in same district with Lubbock or Amarillo schools. They have been doing it for years and don't seem to have a problem with it.

I usually don't comment on many disscussions unless they pertain to specific sports topics. This time I would like to say something. I played for a great coach in the 60's and he would not tolerate cussing and we won back to back state championships. The first year he was at Garland he fired a coach for cussing in front of players. Every player on that team looked up to Coach Curtis. I think that is the way all people should live their lives not just preachers.

The games against Hooks will be Thursday and Saturday at UT Tyler.

The team spent the night in Tyler. I will talk to Coach Henningan at 7:30 and let Kerry know what time and where. It was still raining extremely hard in Tyler when we left at around 9:00 last night. The head of the ground crew told use he was not sure the field at Tyler would be playable this morning.
