  1. I saw him the other night and he told me that was happening. I did not really believe him. This actually makes it sound more possible to me. I wish the kid the best of luck. He is definitely the most talented high school kid that I have ever seen. If he can get his head together and do things right I think that he could change his families life forever.

Why wouldnt you believe what he told you you asked the perfect source; thats if you actually talked to him? you ppl on here be tripping me out with all that bull yall be talking....

Oh yea and he will be enrolled at THE University of Texas next semester

Well considering he was 100% going to be enrolled in the fall up until the day classes start, atleast that is what the parties envolved said, and then he ended up staying in P. Arthur.  You could probably understand why someone would want to see it happen before believing it.  Because after all its something we been hearing for a long time, and yet to see it really happen.

But once again good luck to the kid.  He really has great talent and lets just hope puts it to great use.

  2. I don't know if anyone has seen this, but Texas has the #2 recruiting class coming in next year (3 absolute Studs), and already have 2 or 3 Top 20 commitments for the 2010 class.  In saying that, I really can't imagine Rick Barnes taking on the risk with the players coming to the 40 Acres.

I hope I'm wrong and I hope DV is wrong about the admission thing, but I DON"T THINK THAT IS THE CASE!!!!!  Lets just hope and pray he gets his act together WHERE EVER he ends up playing.  Kid is WAY WAY too talented to be setting on the sidelines watching ball instead of playing.

  3. Atleast the teams playing Kountze this year will get their butts kicked in a GREAT gym.  Man that place looks nice.

And did you hear Joubert say, "Hopefully we will put some W's in this new place."  That like me saying HOPEFULLY Sunday will come.  WE ALL KNOW ITS COMING, and it will come OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!

Congrats to Kountze on an awesome gym.  Your program has earned it.

  4. Couple things:

    1. Great list, especially the 1st and 2nd team.  Man, there is alot of talent in SETX, but I will agree with someone that said K. Spears should be on the list.  He was amazing back in the day.  And I believe Josh graduated in '96, Tramaine was in 2000.

    2.  DV, about only bringing the Top 32 teams to the dance:  SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!! Your manhood is being questioned for the simple fact that we as men get 3 COUNT IT 3 weeks of Basketball in March.  But you want to cut it down to 2.  I am really questioning your MANHOOD at this point.  LOL ;D

    3.  And lay off my SFA Lumberjacks.  We may lose on the hardwood, but we can always drink you under the table.  God I miss those days.

  5. If you are talking about impact on Buc basketball then you cannot leave out TJ White and the Hodges brothers. These guys had major inpacts through their 4 years at ECC.

The Hodges brother thing is good stuff considering Chris never played on the Varsity squad and Tim quit his Sr year!!!  Im sure they are even laughing at that post.  Good stuff

  6. If you keep telling yourself the "truth Ruth" long enough, I am sure you will convince yourself that is what it is.  Another "truth" is that the aforementioned individual conducts himself in a manner that much of society does not deem acceptable although it seems to be acceptable to you.  And yes, his conduct DOES have an affect on others.(hence those who are "sick" of it)  Tolerating this type of actions sends the wrong message to those that will follow himand those who are around him)  I can imagine some other younger aspiring basketball player watching him and concluding that there are little if any consequences for bad behavior if you can play well. Furthermore, if he finally encounters someone who makes him accountable for that behavior, he has "been taught" that Dicky V. (or someone else) will stand up for him and attempt to justify the wrongdoing.  As for the chance for a free college education, why not "bring the truth Ruth" about that?  What does the conduct and lack of discipline suggest about the odds of getting a degree?  Let me change that question.  What does the conduct and lack of discipline suggest about the odds of attending  academic classes and successfully completing a few of them?  Those who take responsibility for their personal circumstances have a much greater chance of success than those who  are taught that they are victims.

You are putting words in my mouth now....I NEVER said that he was a victim, nor do I condone the things that he has done...Dude, are you retarded, or just have a bad understanding? Have YOU ever made a mistake? Were YOU given a shot at redemption? Or do you like some others, that PRETEND to be perfect and have always had it all together?

You cannot place the burden of kids following him sqaurely on HIS shoulders..They have others that they can look at, or better yet they can learn some of the things that they should NOT be doing from him...I HOPE he turns it around, and plays at UT, and graduates...Can you honestly say the same thing? How could a person NOT hope for that for ANY kid, but I didn't think you could..For HIM anyway...You can't relate.

Hell yeah I hope he plays at UT and graduates.  See Dicky V, speaking for myself, I hope the removal of J'Covan from the team humbles him and makes him a better person going to the 40 acres, because I guarntee Barnes won't but up with that crap.  I applaud Henderson and Memorial for sticking to their guns and showing him that his actions wouldn't be tolerated.

  7. I don't think that's true at all DV.  Y I, and most of our posters, pull for all of our area kids.

SOME are pulling for ALL of the area kids..SOME...But you must know that there are others who really want kids like J'Covan to fail, and you can tell by how they speak on the topic..I am for ALL kids, and there are many on here like me, but the reality is, everyone does not feel the same way that I do.

When's the last time you've heard of these "posters" talking bad about T. Thomas(EC), Earl Thomas (WOS), K. Randall (Kelly), J. Charles (PAM), etc, etc.??  I CAN"T REMEMBER, probably because IT HASN"T HAPPENED, and guess what, they are all "URBAN KIDS"!!!!!!!

Its not that people don't want J'Covan to succeed, its just most are tired of his antics.  As a huge Longhorn fan, I WISH he would get his act together, but I've yet to see it.

Why does it always have to be about race?????  Like I said, PNG kicked off their Best RB a few years back and for the most part the community backed it, so its hard to use that argument.
