Silsbee vs Liberty Predictions

May have to empty gym in between semifinal games. When the tourney was at Lufkin last year, there was probably 1900 fans there. Lufkin holds 2400. Not sure what is Bryan gym capacity. -
Rule changes coming to college football

Good question. If that's the case, #3 would be a rule the coaches would definitely have to adapt to. -
Silsbee vs Liberty Predictions
AggiesAreWe replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Boys Basketball
UIL asked if Lufkin would be willing to host 6A Region II instead of 4A Region III back in August. They said yes so UIL had to find a place for 4A. Sam Houston and UIL parted ways. Sam really didn't want to host any longer and UIL didn't want to pay what Sam was asking. -

I see no issue with the first three. #4 could be a problem. A team intentionally spiking the ball to stop the clock and having time to get what personnel in (ie. kicking team, etc.) before official spots the ball could be controversial. Some officiating crews are quicker spotting the ball than others or do it inconsistently. -

Right. Just got the scoop from another coach. Extramarital stuff but spilled over to the classroom.

4A Region III tourney is in Bryan. This was changed back in August. UIL/Maxpreps never made the change on the bracket on their website until recently. -
Isn't this the regional quarterfinals?

According to sources, Timpson head basketball coach was fired Friday. Timpson is currently ranked #10 in Class 2A and will be West Sabine's 1st round opponent. Game is in Lufkin Tuesday night. This sounds like off court stuff.

Silsbee vs Liberty Predictions
AggiesAreWe replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Yes. Lumberton wanted to flip home and home. HJ didn't want home and home, wanted a neutral site. Lumberton won the flip to get the opportunity for home and home and then lost that flip to HJ. So HJ gets a home game in first round. -

You mean the HF (Hamshire-Fannett) Jasper game. I'll be attending that one. -
Silsbee vs Liberty Predictions

That's part of it. Not really a guess. I have seen enough Tiger playoff basketball under Joe Sigler to know he will not keep his starters in a playoff blow out. Got bigger fish to fry later. A betting line is always based on what the final score will be, regardless of pulling starters or not. We can speculate what the score would be if Silsbee played their starters the entirety even if they were up 35. But I think we all know that will not happen. -
Silsbee vs Liberty Predictions

Silsbee beat the #3 and #4 seed (Jasper and Lumberton) by an average of 35 points a game. Liberty tied for 3rd in their district. I think the line at 36 is fair. But I could see it being 40 before game time. -

What's the over/under? Or did you mean you will take Silsbee giving 36? -

Washington and Furr flipped a coin for #1 seed. Washington won the flip. -

The line Silsbee -36 -
Not sure losing by 28 points would be considered an upset.

Buna 60 vs. Kountze 49/FINAL - Play In Game
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Sells finished with 16 points last night. He had 29 Tuesday night. Connell had 19. Kountze did well inside the first half. Buna had a 21-18 rebounding edge. Second half, not so much. Buna out rebounded Kountze 22-12. (43-30 for the game) Both teams did not turn it over much. Kountze had 7, Buna 8. Kountze was 6/28 from 3 point. Buna 6/18 Buna went 8/16 from FT line. Kountze 10/14 Foul count: Kountze 14, Buna 9 In both games, the better team won. Kudos to Coach Wilson and the Buna team. They have had their backs against the wall for a couple of weeks now and rose to the occasion. Basically been a playoff game for them the last 6 games. -
