Ended in a nice block shot by a Tiger. ;D
 2. WJ, is HJ going to take over that #7 state ranking soon? ;)
 3. Already with the "next year" talk. ::) Still got plenty to play this season.

Nobody over 6'2 as AAW said and HJ will have 6'2, 6'3, 6'3 and 6'6 starting!!!  To go along with 5'6 PG!!!!
HJ is taller than Silsbee this year and that doesn’t seem to be hurting the Tigers
But Silsbee has the best player in SE Texas and another guy easily in the Top 10!!!!  A luxury they won't have next season!!!!
Exactly!!!

If I thinking correctly: Gaines, Holmes, Elam & Barclay will be back If that’s true than I don’t see Silsbee having a horrible year I do see HJ giving them trouble but I don’t see HJ just outright crushing them Also Silsbee will probably move up 2 or 3 freshman that look pretty athletic which should help
Donte Wilson will be back as well.

Silsbee has been 3A for 7 years now, but only in 21-3A the last 5 years. HJ and Silsbee had always split their district games until this year. If the Tigers can win out, it will be consecutive out right district titles for Silsbee, which is a first for this district.
Interesting and also fitting. Like I said prior this is Silsbee's best team.  Hard to beat a team in the playoffs this team.  They should win the state championship.
I think Lubbock Estacado has something to say about that. ;D I do not know if I agree that this is Silsbee's best team, but it is one of the best. Last year's team was pretty good. This team is a different type team. Better, deeper bench, much more speed and quickness. But we do not have two '6"7 players either. I'll hold my thoughts for later in the season about this being Silsbee's best. ;)
WEST TEXAS!!!!
No. PANHANDLE!!!!
Guard play usually tells the tale when you get to Austin....last years team was a little shy in the guard position. Hopefully this year will be Silsbee year(if they make it). Those juniors and sophomores play heavy minutes and are ready to step up.
No DC and no Lane, means a totally different team!!!!!
I agree. We went from the last 2-3 years with "Juco" height, to now just one '6"4 player. Next year we will not have a player over '6"2 and only 1 starter returning (Gaines). Silsbee should be okay next year, but nothing like the last 4 years. Tigers will be down some next year, a year away from being back on top. ;D But enough of this next year talk!!! Still plenty of season this year.

Local teams in polls this week: 4A  #19 Nederland 3A  #3 Cleveland     #7 Silsbee     #9 Hardin-Jefferson     #21 Coldspring 2A  #19 East Chambers      #20 Kountze 1A DI  #23 West Sabine Coldspring and East Chambers enters poll for first time this season. Leggett drops out of poll. In Class 3A, Region III has 4 teams in top 10, Cleveland, Silsbee, HJ and Mexia, 5 in top 15 (LaVega) and 7 total in top 25. 3 local districts have 2 teams in top 25. 21-3A (Silsbee and HJ) 22-3A (Cleveland and Coldspring) 24-2A (East Chambers and Kountze)
Hj is going to take over that #7 spot real soon  ;)
You think? ;) ;D
 21. I think it's fairly simple. Silsbee is the better team and the majority of the reason is they have a much better and deeper bench. You combine that with having arguably the best player in the area (Stallworth) and a top 5 player (Lane), this year Silsbee is just better than HJ. That is no knock on Hardin-Jefferson. They will make some noise in the playoffs and I fully expect to see them in Huntsville. The key moment and what I thought swung the game in Silsbee's favor was the last 2 minutes of the 3rd and the first 2 minutes of the 4th. Silsbee had their second unit on the floor in those 4 minutes and it paid big dividends down the stretch. Those bench players turned a 47-46 deficit with 1:45 left in 3rd, to a 53-47 Silsbee lead at the end of the 3rd, finishing on a 7-0 run. Silsbee's coaching staff opted to keep that reserve 5 on the floor to start the 4th and they held serve, leaving with 5:45 left, holding a 55-49 lead. The starting 5 returned for the Tigers well rested and they extended the lead to as much as 14, 63-49, combining with the 2nd unit to give the Tigers a 17-2 run. Much like how Silsbee won the first game, getting a big run to open the last quarter. Also, Silsbee's defensive effort in the 2nd half, particularly in the 4th (held HJ to just 4 points) kept the Hawks from making any kind of comeback run. Silsbee now has held HJ to just 14 total points in the 4th in the two games played. Where as the Tigers have scored 35. Silsbee's starters scored 49, compared to HJ, whose starters scored 45. Silsbee's bench outscored HJ's bench, 15-6. In the two games, Silsbee's bench has outscored HJ's 32-10. Other key stats, Silsbee out rebounding HJ 42-24. Also, Silsbee getting 10 steals, 7 coming in the 2nd half (Gaines had 5). This gives Silsbee 8 wins in the last 11 meetings with Hardin-Jefferson. That's a 72% winning percentage. Good run!! Big road win for Silsbee!! Congrats Tigers on a well deserved victory!!
 22. BTW Rob, you picked Orangefield in this game, not HF.
