1943??? Maybe 40-50 years ago. Cy-Fair won state in 1971. So it was 42 years ago to be exact. ;) Cy-Fair broke Houston Wheatley's streak of 3 straight titles by beating Wheatley in championship game 70-58. Wheatley had a pretty good run in that time. Won state titles in '68, '69, '70, finalist '71, semifinalist '72, champion '73.

TAPPS has indoctrinated newer rules over the last few years to try and get a handle on the recruitment aspect of the private school athletics.

They were new transfers after the new coach was hired.

I wondered about this happening over there with the new coach. He coached or trained many in this area.

Columbia is 18-9 on the year. Only two district losses were to #1 Sweeny. Other than Sweeny and Columbia, 24-3A is pretty weak. Sweeny run ruled every team in that district, including Columbia.

Tonight, Jasper ISD hired Livingston head baseball coach Robb Kirkland as it's new head baseball coach. Coach Kirkland has been at Livingston the last two years. Before Livingston, he was head coach at Hardin-Jefferson. Coach Kirkland will take the place of Coach Smith who came out of retirement to coach Jasper just this season. Congrats to Coach Kirkland on the new job! Good luck!
