It's the state semifinals as the Silsbee Tigers will take on the La Grange Leopards for the chance to win a state championship, TODAY 4pm at University of Texas UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Silsbee (32-8) came from 1 game down in best of 3 series with Diboll to win games 2 & 3 (3-0, 5-4) in dramatic fashion to win the Region III championship and make it to state tourney for first time in school history. La Grange (24-9) defeated Sinton in a 1 game regional final playoff 6-2, to advance to Austin for the 8th time. La Grange has won the state championship 3 times ('73, '01, '04). Silsbee lost to La Grange in the regional quarterfinals in 2011 in a best of 3 series. Silsbee is the #1 seed, La Grange #3 seed. Both were district champions out of their respective districts. Coach Nelson knows exactly what he has coming back next year for Silsbee. What they have returning gives them a great chance of making it back to Austin. Will be very surprised if he leaves. Coach Nelson is a Silsbee grad.
