I watched Ozen against Orangefield and was not impressed. Sorry but that is how I see it and I know girls basketball. They had a good season though but state was not in their future. I agree they did not take their season serious. 20 4A hurt them, there was no competition.  Not only 20-4A but the golden triangle as a whole.

I too am old enough to where when I played only the district champion advanced to the playoff.  is that the solution?  Vidor, Dayton, Central, Orangefield and others should be left out?  Even with 3 teams that creates a bye.  I'd rather have a scheduled game against a #4 seed than a bye is all I'm saying. This is discussed every season and some opinions don't change.  The bottom line is the best teams usually win...and if they slip up and don't....maybe they weren't the best team. If you are a #1 seed and are truely better...then why do you care if a #4 seed is there? [/quote] We both agree there should be more than one because there were some good Orangefield teams in the mid 70's - 80's that never made it because  they only took one. We don't agree on the 4 and that is perfectly fine with me.  ;) I do agree that 4 does away with the bye but so does 2.

When I played there was only one, I know I know times have changed. IMO it was more competitive with one or maybe two teams. Now it is watered down just like the All districts picks. Being District champions does not have the same meaning anymore. Besides coaches will tell you that most of the time the bracket favors the second place team in most cases. The only thing being district champion means is having a bye in 3A anyway. I can't stand a "BYE". ;D ;D Some districts only have four teams. If you are going to have 4 then why not let them all make it. That is what it is coming too.

I still keep up with it though. I would pull for HJ though. I have to pull for anyone from 21-3A.

There was some comments made about Orangefield and Orangefield should have never been in this conversation unless we were talking about a basketball game. Lots of mud slinging and ponting the finger here that should have never happened.

I agree if the rules were broken then there should be a punishment but in this case the rules was not broken that has been proven already. As for you HFfan5, The way Orangefield was playing at the end of the season IMO they did not deserve to go to the playoff's so you are wrong about me. So if the shoe was on the other foot I would not have cared. ;)

They controlled their "OWN" destiny and fell short. Let me ask you this, what is HF record against BC the last ten years, 19-1 or maybe 20-0?  So one girl made a difference really? Lets see she tranfered from LCM, The last time LCM and BC was a power in basketball well I can't remember that far back. All I hear is excuses and that is what is wrong with this country. The "RIGHT" thing is to earn it not be given something because business on the court was not taken care of. Some of you posters is what is really sad.

Would have like to see a playoff because both teams took care of business.

Why would Bridge City play a player knowing it was against the rules? That does not make any sense. Believe me one player from LCM would not have made the difference in that ball game. HF laid an egg plain and simple. ;D

No way Vidor has more D1 talent than Ozen and you are right Ozen only has 1. ;D ;D The WOS, Silsbee and Lumberton teams in that era could also beat Vidor badly but on the flipside I guess we will never know. ;D ;D

Most of the kids on their Varsity played in their little dribbler program. That is why they are successful plain and simple. Basketball is number 1 and it shows in the other sports. I know some people from HJ want them to succeed in other sports also but Basketball is king at this point and time.  Their volleyball team did very well this year so maybe things are changing. If you support high school athletics you should support every sport and hope they succeed in all of them. That is the goal.

It would be a battle with HJ. They would fight for second not fourth. No way they are on a different level. There would be a battle I promise. Which is what these teams need to prepare them for a playoff push. Right now they are not getting that in district play, 21 3A or 20 4A!!!!!!!!!!!
