There were 22 points scored in the last 4:34 of this game! WS's QB Demarie Smith hit his brother Dhailon on a bubble screen which he housed from 63 yds. out. Pirates get the ball back and have it 4th and 10 on the WS 10, only to have the ball bounce off their receiver. Was a whale of a game. WS saved their season with the win, and can seal the 4th spot in 12-2A with a victory over West Hardin next Friday.

I saw first hand when they played WS that they are indeed much better than their 0-4 record indicates. Every game they've had they have been in and has come down to the fourth quarter and (save last week vs. Beckville) was close. Don't underestimate them. They are playing good, physical football, they just seem snake bit.

You have to be half crazy to want to be a HS coach of any kind these days. The hours are long, the pay sucks and you will now apparently get beat up if you don't play a particular kid. The reward, however, is seeing young men and women that you have helped mold into adults succeed at whatever they decide to do in life and then, at their 20th class reunion, speak of you fondly as an inspirational figure in their lives.

Building a program takes time. Knowing him as personally as I do, I hope they give Coach Stark the time to do it, because he's one of the good ones. It may take a few years, but TRUST me y'all wont regret it....

What would a 5A Louisiana school be equivalent to in Texas? Many has become a powerhouse at the 2A level the past three year in Louisiana.They're right across the river from me and I hear about them all the time. Think they have an ex Hemphill coach for their DC. What would a 2A LA school be equivalent to in TX by the way? Off topic here, but you might want to keep your eye on SFA in the Southland Conference. They could have the defensive newcomer of the year in FS Hunter Cabral (The same one who tore it up at WS a few years ago). Just watch for #47 if you catch any of their games....
