DeMarie Smith Alto: Sr. RB/LB Jacolby Whitaker Jr. QB/DB Zac Sturns Grapeland: Sr. WR/DB Patrick Walker
Sturns will be a Sr. Lots other impact players returning for Alto as well
Thanks for the catch there. Must have hit j instead of s lol. The top of this district will be loaded this year!
4.

Man, this is getting good already! HD will be ready come playoff time no matter who they face. Alto will be VERY GOOD regardless of who their head coach is. I do think that the players that Mart lost will hurt come playoff time. Cosby and Thomas are electric though and they are still the defending region III champs until someone knocks them off. Alto wins their district with West Sabine finishing second and SA coming in third with a young team. Mart will beat Bosqueville and Axtell and win district 12. This would put Alto and Mart on a collision course in the third round, the same place San Augustine ran into mart in 2012. I think HD beats WS in Rd 2 and rolls to regionals against the Mart/Alto winner (which i think will be Alto). I'm sure Joaquin, Timpson, Harleton, Carlisle and the folks from District 9 will have plenty to say about this as well. My top teams going into the season: 1. Alto 2. Mart 3. HD 4. WS
Good post HD9, I enjoy reading your insight on here as you are the only HD fan with any sense.  I'm telling right now, Alto is not going to drop off with Gardner retiring, all will be setled very soon regarding that.  Mart will be intersting, those Linemen they are losing were very good as was their WR's that graduated as well.  Mart will be their, if Thomas gets hurt though then they could be in trouble.  HD will be their to, lack of speed could hurt in the end though. I see our district as: 1. Alto 2. WS 3. SA/Grapeland/Shelbyville 6.  Poor lil ol Cushing, who could probably get 3rd in Hd district.
District 10 will once again be a fight to the finish, with both West Sabine and Alto returning most of their squad from last year, especially on both lines. West Sabine will have to find a new identity on offense with Lacey's graduation, but I have seen the heir apparent at QB and he looks extremely polished, especially as a passer, and having the reigning District Defensive MVP in Hunter Cabral returning wont hurt either. As long as Alto has Whitaker and Sturns in their backfield they will be a load to handle for any defense. While SA may have lost 19 or 20 seniors, don't underestimate them in the slightest. While Mart may have lost some key linemen up front, as long as they have the electric combo of Cosby and Thomas they will be the favorites in region 3 barring injuries. Moseley should give H-D a deep threat to take the top off of defenses in the passing attack, and Timpson had a resurgent season last year with a lot underclassmen. Region 3 should be wide open in 2013 in my opinion......
5. Rickel Thomas, West Sabine Jr. Hit number 2 vs. High Island Monday night. Three run bomb.
6.
Woods was on the hill 11 K's and 3 hits given up
Thanks. Heard that we hit one out last night as well.
7. Who did West Sabine have throwing tonight? It fell a flood on me about halfway there and I couldn't make it :/.
8. West Sabine has Garrett Brown, Rickel Thomas, and Aaron Woods as their top three arms. Each would by themselves be an ace on any other team in my opinion. As for hitting, 1-9 can all swing it.
9. If West Sabine pitches and cuts out the errors I see a 2 game series. Don't really know enough about High Island to make a comparison.....
10.
I don't think Alto will be as good without Gardner as they would have been with him, so I do see somewhat of a setback. With that being said, I don't think that West Sabine will be able to beat Alto's talent, especially losing Lacy. West Sabine will be tough as nails and has plenty of play makers. San Augustine will be tough again, but they lost way too much talent to compete with Alto in my opinoin. I still think Alto wins that district even without Gardner. Alto vs. Teneha early on will be a great measuring stick because Teneha will be loaded again.
Losing Lacey will hurt West Sabine, but you are right about them having plenty of playmakers especially on defense with the returning Defensive MVP in Cabral, and speed to burn on the outside on offense. And all the lines on both sides are back. San Augustine can't help but take a hit this year, being a 1A losing 19 or 20 seniors. Don't underestimate ANYONE in District 10 in 2013. A playoff match-up with the winner of District 11 would be a barnburner!!!!!!!!!!!
11. Retired? Heard on KLTV he had just resigned. Oh well could have just read it wrong. Alto would be a plum job for anyone with their returning talent. That being said, District 10 will be wide open until the new coach gets his feet under him.
12.

At the Brookeland/Colmesneil game, a helmet will be passed for the West. Texas relief fund.  Coach Hooker and John Holland will travel to West to personally deliver those donations.
Very Nice Gesture indeed!
I agree 110%. That was a class act.........God Bless West, Texas
13. I've seen the players to watch list and there are no small school players. Know there is some big-time talent playing at these levels. I will start it off with LB/RB Hunter Cabral from West Sabine. A 165lb. MLB (yes just 165lbs.), he recorded 168 tackles in 12 games. Was District 10 defensive MVP and made 2nd team all state in just two playoff games. If you all have any more (and I KNOW you do lol) list them for me please and thank you...........
14. District 10 1A Players to watch: West Sabine Sr. RB/DB Nick Williams Jr. RB/LB Hunter Cabral (2012 district defensive MVP) Jr. QB/DB Reshod Williams Jr. WR/DB Joshua Duffey Fr. DeMarie Smith Alto: Sr. RB/LB Jacolby Whitaker Jr. QB/DB Zac Sturns Grapeland: Sr. WR/DB Patrick Walker
15. I can remember a time (in my lifetime) when only the district champ went to the playoffs(now THAT'S old school lol). But I remember several years ago West Sabine lost their first 7 games but won their last three to squeak in as the third place team in their district. Went three rounds deep that year and should have beaten Price Carlisle (WS finished 5-8 on the season.). IMO it all depends on a.) the district you play in, b.) your non-district strength of schedule( I've seen teams lose all their non-district games but go 5-0 in their district and win it outright at 5-5), and c.) the match-ups they would draw in the playoffs. That being said, however, I think it does water down the competition somewhat and the money factor from the extra games does come into play.
16. Prayers sent from Pineland. Stay strong bro.....
17. My mistake. Thought I saw a red shirted fan. I admit I was wrong. I am sincerely sorry. Glad to hear she's okay. What I said was in the heat of the moment. Looking back I wish I hadn't posted it. Was just wired up that's all. Good luck to yall in the playoffs.
18. Colmesneil 9 West Sabine 4 Final To the class act Bulldog fan who let a foul ball hit a kid instead Of catching it yourself: remember that karma has a way of getting You in the end. The kid's ok,by the way. Just saying......
19. So West Sabine has one off night at the plate against San Augustine and they can't hit now? If memory serves the Tigers collected 18 hits in the last game off your pitching staff. Unless you have someone else other than those two that night (which I'm sure you do) it will come down to whoever has the last at bat. Should be an exciting game nonetheless. Both teams have been on fire at the plate lately.............
