  1. This district will wide open once again this year. Lovelady is favored as usual, but West Sabine has a hungry jv squad (that was 8-0 last year as freshmen) moving up to the varsity ranks, and their o-line will be massive once again, anchored by seniors Worrell and Hershberger. With this year's departing seniors there will be holes to fill, but there will be speed, speed, and more speed in the backfield. I think the same three teams that made it last year will repeat, only with West Sabine winning the district, behind their experienced o and d-lines. But what do I know? There's only like 2 1/2 months to week zero........
  2. I pick Central Heights. Any team that can beat them is a legitimate powerhouse.
  3. There are several that stick out in my mind. The first one was when West Sabine fell to Celeste in the '02 state semis. We had the far better team that year and that was our first bad game all year that year. The next one that comes to mind was the '03 game against Shiner when we were #1 in 1A and got blasted 49-7 at Katy. Was a cold, lonely night on both occasions. We got bumped up to 2A in '04 and went 4-6 with the 6 losses by a combined 36 points! That was a season full of heartbreakers!
  4. Why the postponement? Anything to do with the storms we had last night affecting the field?
  5. The winner of this series will draw the winner of the West Sabine/Lovelady series. Based on these teams reputations alone I think all three games will be needed. Whoever has the most pitching depth will win in my opinion. The West Sabine/Lovelady series will be a home-in-home, with game 1 Thursday @ Lovelady (6:30pm) and game(s) 2 and potentially 3 at Pineland starting Saturday @ noon. We have a new baseball field that is a great venue on which to play. If any of you are in or around Pineland on Saturday stop by and take a gander at our new digs!!!
  6. We have a new baseball field to go with our new high school. My guess is they wanted to show it off, because it is a great place to play!
  7. You are right. That Barnard kid does indeed have a cannon for an arm! Hosed two of our guys at 2nd in game one. Congrats on a great season to the Wildcats. From what I heard is that they are all either freshmen or sophomores, so they appear that they will be competitive for a couple years to come. I wasn't at the game, what forced it into extras?
  8. The word I'm getting is that it will be a home-in-home, 2 out of 3 series starting Thursday night at 6:00 @ Lovelady and Saturday @ Pineland at noon, with the if necessary game to follow afterward if needed. Just what I've got from my sources.
  9. That's too bad for Hemphill. This season will only make the underclassmen hungrier next year. Feel for the Seniors though. Congrats on a great season Hornets!
  10. I agree it was a ridiculous amount of pitches. Think he hd his arm in a harness after the game last night. Sounds like today's game was a barnburner with West Sabine winning 9-8 in extra innings.
  11. Congrats to the Tigers! Keep it up against Lovelady next week!!!!!!!
  12. Sounds like he was clutch tonight. Who's throwing tomorrow? You know? West Sabine used the hidden ball trick tonight to perfection! Faked an overthrow to 2nd and got the out at 3rd. Fooled everyone in the park (I spotted it first though I think)! You ever seen it work before?
  13. Hey greenhornet, who did Hemphill have on the hill tonight?
  14. It was a fantastically pitched game by both hurlers. Conner for West Sabine and Hendrix for Big Sandy.  Is Hendrix their #1 pitcher? Think I had him at 153 or 154 pitches tonight(know it was 129 going into the top of the 7th.150+ for sure). Must have a rubber arm!
  15. From what I'm reading on here about district 24 1-A, both West Sabine and Colmesneil had better bring their A+ games with them this weekend(along with their hitting shoes!!!) if they hope to triumph in each of their respective series. Got confidence that the Tigers will put it all together and advance to battle Lovelady.
  16. Whoever plays with the sounder fundamentals will take this one. Look on the linescore and see who has the least errors and you will find the winner. Picking these playoff games can be a real crap shoot!
  17. Wow. What happened? Hemphill had better bring their A++ game(s) tomorrow!
  18. Ric Flair once said, "In order to be the man, you gotta beat the man!" That being said I'll say Evadale strictly based on reputation. Haven't seen em yet this year, but when you don't lose anyone from a state finalist team, HELLO!
  19. Devonte Thomas (2nd) and Chris Williams (3rd) went back-to-back tonight at Colmesneil.
