  1. Just goes to show that you should never, and I repeat NEVER (hope you are all listening, West Sabine!) underestimate an opponent, even though the Tigers handled them the first go round. We are going to have to bring it Friday night otherwise we will end up like Zavalla, on the outside of the playoff race looking in. GET 'EM TIGERS!!!!!!
  2. This district 23 had a little craziness tonight if I read the scores right, with burkeville sneaking up and biting zavalla. Just goes to show you have to bring it every game, no matter the opponent. Should be interesting Friday afternoon when West Sabine rolls into Burkeville. Every game is crucial from here on out!
  3. This is ust my opinion but the kids should learn a change-up than a slider or the sharp curve ball. The tendons in the wrist weren't built to move in that direction constantly, and the change-up has roughly the same grip as a two seam fastball. Mechanics and conditioning also play a huge role for pitchers. There are also some drills that are specifically for pitchers. There are some that generate their power in the upper body while others drive through with their lower half. More coaches should keep an accurate pitch count, but even that doesn't tell the whole story. There's a huge difference when its say 12-0 in the 3rd than 7-6 in the bottom of the 7th. The effort behind the pitch and the stress said pitch was made under also plays a role.
  4. Why is everyone hatin on me here? Lol. I know the difference between pony league and high school ball. Was just making a comparison is all. Congrats CH on the victory. Just remember a lesson I was once taught: When you beat a team that badly you had better enjoy it now, because one day that team you just pulverized will return the favor to you! Just sayin..........
  5. I will admit that I haven't seen Central Heights play this season. It will come down to whomever doesn't give the other extra outs. No one is giving Hemphill much of a chance against CH (18-4?!), so that's why I picked them (call me sentimental for picking the underdog). CH may win, but it will not be a blowout. The freshmen on the Hemphill team were all on a state championship team last year (I believe) so the big stage shouldn't intimidate them.
  6. Should be a slugfest with these two prolific offenses taking the field! Goin with Hemphill sheerly because their offense is just on too much of a roll. That Twine kid is someone to watch out for. He's a potential 5-tool type player who should be a D-1 prospect by his Senior year.
  7. When Central Heights ties up with Hemphill it should be a slugfest with those two offenses! It will come down to (as it always seems to) pitching, pitching pitching, pitching, and defense. The team that doesn't beat themselves will win this game.
  8. I missed the game tonight. Were there any home runs? Could someone send me some stats on here please? Thanks
  9. Yep,  Chris did hit an absolute bomb! Had to have gone at least 400 feet because its 402' to dead center and roughly 380' to the power alley where he hit it. It got out in a hurry!
  10. Chris Williams went yard for West Sabine tonight against Broaddus. 2-run shot
  11. You are right. Those tactics would eventually become obvious. I know there are two sides to every story, but having been on the wrong end of several scores (albeit NONE that bad) you reach a point where you just start laughing and look forward to the next game.  I feel the winning coach was probably more embarrassed than the loser because he, more than likely, had to explain why the score was run up.
  12. That's pitiful sportsmanship! I mean after it got to say 20-0 I would have my guys bunt every AB, swing at terrible pitches, etc., etc. Whoever did this will recieve their comeuppance somewhere down the road, hopefully in a playoff deciding game! Wouldn't that be poetic justice at it's finest!
  13. Is the West Sabine/Burkeville game Monday night (Mar.14) and the following game is on Mar.17th? Shouldn't it be the 15th and the 18th, respectively? Thanks.
  14. West Sabine and Tenaha collide Wednesday night with a regional semifinal berth on the line. Who will win and why? I got West Sabine because of their depth(not being a homer here!!).
  15. Go for it Mustangs. I agree with bucketsitr, you gotta leave it all on the court! But enjoy the ride along the way as well.
  16. West Sabine's depth came to the forefront last night. Their conditioning is excellent and it showed last night. Seems like every team these days has trouble sinking their FT's, though. The only thing that will cure that is practice, practice, practice, and (wait for it) more practice! Seems like Evadale has trouble guarding teams with speedy guards, of which West Sabine has many. Can't really give an accurate assessment, however, seeing as how that was the only game I have seen Evadale play.
