I'll bet Mr. Bollinger sees some playing time tomorrow night and Jeff plays to win this game. A lot of good it does to go to the playoffs if you don't play to win EVERY game. Our kids need to finish on an upbeat note in preparation for Crosby!!!

Or Baytown Lee. After all if they win and Crosby losses then we will play Baytown Lee.

It's all good my friend, it's all good.
  2. The Pirates will take care of business if the Panthers will take care of theirs. Good comraderee between both schools and I would love to see how far Ozen could go in the playoffs. Livingston doesn't play well in the Boneyard and Jeff wants to win this game. Not playing to win would make absolutely no sense. I saw both Montana and Austin Powell taking snaps and looking good. Also, Bollinger turned a couple of corners with the ball and looks like he may be a factor tomorrow night.  Perhaps ya'll can call Crosby and tell them we're not as bad as they think...maybe we can meet after the game and pray like we do with both Central and Ozen.

Alright, the dust is settled and now it's time to give some props to both teams.

I have got to hand it to Vidor. I walked into this game thinking Vidor was overrated and that PN-G was going to prove it. Vidor's defense seemed almost too motivated in the first quarter; they kept having off sides and pass interference penalties, and it's obvious that they weren't controlling themselves very well. In the second quarter, it looked like Mathews had gotten them to calm down and there weren't as many penalties, but Vidor started giving up long runs and even a two point conversion. After the half, Vidor looked better, but they came out of the inflatable skull looking flat and demoralized. At that point, I was starting to think the game was over, and another Indian touchdown along with a goose egg on Vidor's side of the board at the end of the third affirmed that notion. Through the third quarter, it was looking like I was right and Vidor really was overrated.

The fourth quarter proved me wrong.

When Vidor switched quarterbacks and finally started having success in the air, I started getting worried. It was obvious that the momentum was shifting and the Pirates had some wind in their sails (no pun intended). When the Pirates brought in that two point conversion to make the score 22-15, I just about had a heart attack and I'm pretty sure I did have one on that last personal foul penalty against the Indians. Our defense seemed to be crumbling in frustration towards the end of the game, and for a moment I thought I'd be eating crow with this post. Vidor has the ability to score quickly and take advantage of what defenses give them when they knuckle down and focus. No team should overlook them. Good luck Pirates and go beat Livingston.

The Indians had a great game for the first three quarters. I don't think anyone expected to be up 15-0 at the half and 22-0 at the end of the third. That's a real testament to the improvements our defense has made since last year. After the Ozen, LC-M and Vidor games, I think it's obvious at this point that the Indian defense is once again a force to be reckoned with in District 20-4A, providing that they can play consistently. Now go wrap up district and beat Central. I want to catch another PN-G game at some point this year and I won't be home again until Thanksgiving.

    Scalp 'em!

Good post and couldn't agree more. Congratulations to the Indians on a big win. No turnovers, well coached. We killed two good drives ourselves fumbling away the ball. Great ballgame. Glad to see the Pirates put up some fight in the fourth and nearly take it back. Again, great ballgame.

The whole "I hate PNG" thing is really annoying. Do you really know us to hate us? I am not from here but I married a pretty amazing guy who is and have made some wonderful friends here! I feel blessed to be raising my children in this community and I will proudly wear my purple and white Indian shirt....in fact look for me at the game I will be the one in purple on the home side!  ;)
I agree!!  It is pretty annoying to me too!  How can you hate people you don't know?!  I'm proud to be an Indian...and proud to be raising my kids as Indians too!!  ;D
This is exactly how I feel about Vidor jokes...it does get old .
Yeah, we all need to quit hating and bringing up the past. Let's keep it to smack talk about football and get along with each other. Love to rile up the NDN and Doggie fans but it's just in fun. It's nice to have a program we can do that with now. Thanks Jeff Mathews!
  5. Nederland, at home, playing for an outright district title which is something Neumann wants really bad. Nederland 28, Ozen 14. Ozen has some hosses and won't be denied the endzone but Nederland will roll to win district this year. I have to say I believe that Neumann is one of the best coaches in high school football and he knows how to draw up a game plan for the team he's playing. Props to him and his coaching staff. Ozen has coaching issues same as Central. No offense SoulJa.
  6. Most schools who have their own police have escorts to each game. I've seen them from other schools at Vidor's games as well as other games not involving our team. I think it's just standard procedure for every school given today's issues...nothing deep attached to it.

The interesting game would be Crosby playing Vidor.

Remember Crosby backed out of a game with Vidor just a couple of years ago stating racial issues why they did not want to schedule Vidor for a home and home.

I don't know if I would even want to touch this one....it would only be fitting though. Where would we play that might be acceptable to them, Lubbock???
Lubbock? Uh i don't think so. Thats a 10 hour drive for vidor and a 9 hour drive for crosby.
Yeah, I know. Just kidding. Maybe a triple header at Da Butch??? Our kids seem to do well in there. By the way, back in the U.S. this Thursday for Fridays' date with the NDNs. I'll be one of the idiots waving my Jolly Roger flag......

    Vidor  24
    PNG    30
Here we go again with the Vidor defense getting no love. No way PNG hangs 30 on our defense. Gotta disagree with you this time. This game will be in the 20's at best points wise. By the way, the indians have to show they can stop our ball control offense to get their offense on the field.
    Vidor 24, PNG 17.
The best defense in the district couldnt hold us below 20....no way Vidor can keep us at 17...you may need to flip flop that prediction.
Nederland's defense isn't any better than Vidor's and we played AT THEIR HOUSE. Look at the statistics. The only team to put 30 on us this year was Texas High in the 1st game of the season. Your defense is giving up over 250 yards rushing a game which is what we do. We run the ball, your offense stays on the sidelines. We'll see who has the best athletes. Do the math.

PNG and Vidor play next week, right? At PNG or Vidor?
Indian Stadium. We just added a helipad and limo parking.
Uhh, we don't need a helipad. Ya'll got a muddy field we can park our 4-wheel drive trucks in??

Hell, Vidor won a state title in the 60s, the year my dad graduated.  If it isn't this year, it really doesn't mean squat.  This IS high school, after all.
Vidor got beat in the semi finals that year by San Marcos.Score was tied 20 to 20 I believe and the tie breaker back then was penatrations. We lost 3 to 2. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Absolutely correct. I have my dad's program from the game.
