Can't never tell how returning players will work these Pirates hungry this YEAR. Just cause you coming back doesn't make you have the same hungry the next year. I say go fight win Pirates NOW 2011. This is a sound football team that doesn't beat themselves. Go Coach Matthews.

Good post! I agree.. Attack NOW! Next year is never guaranteed. Nederland went 3 or 4 years in a row losing their starting QB predistrict. Strike while the iron is hot. Hope we see you again in the playoffs but sorry to say it will be a similar outcome..  ;)

Idk about that. If it happens to be in the cards that we do see each other again i'm sure Bolinger will be back for that game and he will be looking for some payback  8)

I can only hope and pray that we get Mr. Bollinger back and meet our non-rival Nederland in the second or third round of the playoffs....please dear Lord make that happen....
If you meet them, it wouldn't be till the regional final, in D1.  If you go D2, you might get the  Brenham match up you wanted in round 2.

I AM ON MY KNEES IN PRAYER RIGHT NOW!!!
  2. Having graduated at a time when we played eight homecomings a year, I would say homecoming is dictated by who your playing within your district. We have a great band and we were an easy victory. Actually, I think it's dictated by the time of year, at least on Vidor's part. We put on such an elaborate show with the parade and all, it takes a little more planning than just saying "we're playing _____" on the schedule and that would be a good time for it. I consider Central our rival. Epic games with great sportsmanship and comradery. Central scheduling us for their homecoming is fine with me; we'll bring the Band of Bands, 5000 fans, and a heck of a good football team. Should be worth double the price of admittance.....

Been saying all along it isn't our offense that's winning the games, it's the defense. It's why I have more confidence in this team than the 2009 one. The '09 Pirates were fair on defense with a good offense; this team has a good offense and the best defense we've had since Hatch was defensive coordinator.
Look Rob,  it might look like I comment on alot of your posts but this one I cant let go.  Coming from a Parent that have kids that have played on both the 2009 team and now the 2011.  Comparing the two team defenses is like comparing apples to oranges.  Give the 2009 teams defense a chance to play this style 3-3-5 come and get you defense instead of the 3-4 wait and let the other teams offense pick you apart and that team makes a deep playoff run.  Both teams have great athletes on them but to say the 09 D wasnt as good as this 11 D is crazy.  Look at the rosters of the two teams.
TITAN POWER again, you're misquoting me. This has absolutely nothing to do with the kids on the field but everything to do with the defensive scheme. I HAVE NO KIDS ON ANY OF THESE TEAMS but I've been a Pirate fan all my 52 years of life and this is how I see it. You are correct in the belief that in 2009 we sat back and let the other team come at us, I agree. The Nederland game that year was a perfect example of letting a sophomore quarterback sit in the pocket with no pressure and pick us apart. Stupid. Quit taking things personally towards the kids, especially your kids. I used to help run a website about these kids in 2003 / 04. When you hear or see me say something bad about one of those children, you can be the first to let me know. Got nothing to do with them!

Please (yawn).....Im tired of playing three games in Nederland and then one in Vidor. If they re-align, it still needs to be at ivan croak.
Please don't call the Boneyard that .    :-[
Sorry, the misinformed don't know it as the Boneyard. Just wanted to emphasize that the UIL needs to play some of the games in Vidor.

If BH wins 19-4a (probable), wouldn't Vidor have to be in 4th to face Brenham?  If Vidor is 3rd in district they would be on the other side of the bracket.  ( FYI , i would take it one game at a time, nothing is settled in this district yet, with the exception of possibly Lumberton missing the playoffs.)
Sorry bigdog, I don't cater to the belief system of its and buts. You want to make the playoffs you have to BELIEVE it or stay at home. I learned winning from some very good athletes post-high school. Never heard them talk about not winning....
  7. I'm not one who believes in myths and superstition. I definetly don't believe anything I write here will magically change the outcome of Friday's game. It is my experience in sports and life that if you want to win, you have to BELIEVE it! You have to walk, talk, breath and act like you are going to and not accept anything less. Every minute, every down, just like Saturday night. Otherwise, you might as well stamp the big "L" on your forehead. Most of the things I post are for our kids, not to ellicit a response from others. I'm not in our kids huddle but I do know they read this. I have to give props to Nederland and PNG's programs because they have that attitude and win with less sometimes. I want this for Vidor and I know Jeff Mathews is making it happen. ARE YOU GETTING THIS PIRATES!!!! PLAY HARD!!!!

Vidor. We've won more state titles in band than anyone. (you didn't say football, you need to clarify next time)
Being that it is posted in the football forum and not the band forum, gives it it's clarity. ;)

Sorry, you teed it up, I had to go for the green.....
  9.
You still have 4 games left against some of the top teams in the district.  Don't count on the playoffs just yet.  That applies to all teams with the probable exception of Lumberton.
Yes, I said playoffs. I'm not one who lives on superstition and myth. If you want to be a winner, you have to act, feel and say you are a winner!!!! You want the big "L" stuck on your forehead, you act like it. YOU GETTING THIS PIRATES!!!!

Vidor 28-14, but Bollinger still in boot doubt he is back. If you don't need him don't rush him back let him heal up good.
Agreed. I wouldn't push David to come back either and I'm sure Jeff won't as well. We need him for the last three district games and the playoffs. Yes, I said playoffs.

Sounds as though you are already saying "Wait till next year!"  You do know Vidor is still alive this year, don't you?
I'm not saying "wait until next year" at all, extremely proud of the playoff bound Pirates this year. I'm saying that this team is mostly juniors and sophomores, 5 - 1 overall, and 2 -1 in district. Nine starters on the #1 defense in this district are underclassmen. Now that's scary. And, my fine, non-rivalry Nederville friends, the "Black and Gold" Bowl will be at Ivan Croak Field next year and should be another nail biter down to the wire. Just saying.....

Vidor fans keep jumping threads talking trash? Ozen isn't any better then Livingston or Nederland. Both of those games the NDNs were in till the end. It will be a good game, but I think the NDNS pull it out at home 35-28.
We're not jumping your thread, only two Pirate posters I've seen. Indians by a touchdown; it's at the Reservation.
  13. I have to wish for that, you keep picking against my team. Tell your coach to call Jeff Mathews and lets get a home and away. I'm sure Jeff would do it. Heck, we play Texarkana. Brenham is a lot closer. Nederland beat us on a fourth and 18 play; BH and Ned went to O/T. It could happen....by the way, my wife is from College Station and I know your vaunted program well. Actually seen a Cubs game in Brenham vs Waller. You won...
