Because it's the truth? Can you expect a team that went 2-8 last year to come in and compete with two of the top teams in the state the very next year? With a new coach? And new offensive and defensive schemes? It just doesn't happen. I think anyone who saw us last year and has seen us to this point this year would agree that we are much better. From a program aspect for sure. No, I'm sorry to disappoint you, we aren't one of the top teams in the state yet. May not ever be. But when you look at the development of a HIGH SCHOOL football program, you look at much more than simply what goes on between the whistles. You look at whether or not the kids believe in it, you look at how the program develops them as players AND as men, you look at the attitude and energy level of the coaching staff, etc. There are so many things that go into developing a successful program aside from wins and losses. Especially in the first year with a new coaching staff and completely different way of doing things.

Waldie has done an A+ job in my opinion, being able to see the development of the program through multiple aspects. No, it's not where we want it to be quite yet. I don't think any realistic person expected it to be. But these kids are buying into the system and the community is FINALLY supporting these kids the way we've been dying to happen the last fifteen years.

Woodville started to pick it up and caught some breaks at the end of the half. Kirbyville's front seven is just too much for us so far. Like I said, they are by far the best team I've seen all year. My hat goes off to them.

Yes, it was made rather late. But you are being quite ridiculous and over-dramatic. A highschool program is not built in one year, much less six weeks. When Waldie was hired, he was hired to rebuild this program practically from the bottom. Now we lose one game to a very good football team and all of a sudden you want him fired? Lol get real. You have to build a highschool football program. You can't expect a new coach to jump in and beat every single team he plays in his first year.

This is a perfect example of how NOT to evaluate a program. You can't fire a coach every time you don't have success. Buna is a VERY good football team and there's no shame in losing to them. Did you expect to go undefeated after a 2-8 year last year? There are no immediate fixes. Vince Lombardi himself couldn't have coached Woodville to a win tonight. These coaches have done a great job improving the program from where it was the past two years. If you have a problem with how it's run, you have three options: get in a position where you can have a say-so in who the coach is, get your degree and certification and work your way up to the HC position, or be patient and give the guy more than six weeks to rebuild this program. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Having seen both Kirbyville and Buna, Buna is better. I understand it has been rough. I tried to stay positive about it for my team. But I think it's kinda hard anyone to say "Woodville will not make the playoffs". Lol I can't wait for Buna and Kountze to play lol I admit I was wrong about this game. Buna is a much better football team than Woodville. And is showing it. Kirbyville and Buna is going to be a hell of a game. The top 3 in this district is TOUGH. I still think fourth is wide open though :)

Hardin will have the home field advantage. I'm not sure who wins this one but it should be the closest game of the district this week.

I think if Woodville wins, that puts them right I'm the middle of the playoff hunt, possibly looking at the second or third spot. If Buna wins, it only validates how good of a team they are and will only strengthen their case for competing for a district title.

This is probably one of the tougher games to call this year! Gotta go with our neighbors in Warren!

Buna has huge offensive and defensive lines that are strong, their defense is strong and fast, they have three running backs that are starting-caliber, and IMO the best proven head coach in the district.

Woodville has athletes all over the field. Their defense is extremely physical and fast. They have fast receivers and one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the region in Marqui Jackson. Not to mention two young running backs that can go as well.

Woodville was missing a starting wide receiver and one of their running backs, who also starts at safety, last week. Not sure what their status is for this week.

If Buna is going to win, they will have to be able to keep Woodville's speed from getting to the edge.

If Woodville wants to win, they will have to get to the edge and take advantage of every opportunity they get.

This should be a great game. Both teams are fired up and undefeated and should be extremely passionate in this game.

I agree that people aren't giving Buna enough credit. They've beaten some very good football teams this year and are a definitely contender for the district title. But I think this game will be more competitive than 35-7. I think Woodville is much more than 7 points better than Warren.

Well, based on your statement, they are 3-0. Which is a one game improvement over last year. So, obviously, there's the improvement you're looking for right there.

And yes, beating Warren would be an improvement, since it didn't happen last year. Just like Kountze made an improvement last year by beating Woodville for the first time in 5 years. Just like Anahuac improved by beating Woodville for the first time in 2 years the year before that. Just like Warren has improved in each of the last two years, beating Woodville for the first and second times in 30+ years. I don't get where all this cockiness comes from out of Kountze. Lol I've gone out of my way to not make negative comments about Kountze. But you go to the playoffs ONCE AS A FOURTH PLACE TEAM in 40 years AND start off 0-3 and all of a sudden you're a powerhouse in this district? Lol what about in 2010 when we beat y'all by 40+? Or in 2011 when we beat y'all by 28? Or 2012 when we beat y'all's "favorited" team IN KOUNTZE by 2 in front of a couple thousand Kountze fans after the whole Christian sign thing went down? lol I'm not going to put down any of the kids from Kountze because I believe they are a good football team. And I believe they have just as much of a chance to make the playoffs as any other team in this district. But please, let's count how many times Woodville went to the playoffs duing your 40-year drought.
Respect is earned, especially in this district that some refer to as "the little SEC". And going to the playoffs once doesn't EARN enough respect to consider yourself an automatic win over opponents who have obviously EARNED much more respect on the field in the past. I realize Woodville is not in the same class of success as the Kirbyville's, Newton's, and Corrigan-Camden's of the world. But without a shadow of a doubt, I think Woodville has earned much more respect than to be considered a walkover team in any game in this district.

Just based on what I saw last year. When I say "I don't know much about" a team, it's more referring to names of players, stats, etc. I know exactly what I saw last year from each team. And thanks!

Woodville coming into the match undefeated after a 26-10 win over Deweyville. Hardin coming off a bye with their last performance being a teeth-grinding 33-6 loss to New Waverly. If you're comparing common opponents, Woodville is the clear favorite, having beaten New Waverly 16-14. But I think it's gonna be a more competitive game than that. I do think Woodville playing at home is an advantage. I also think Woodville has the upper hand athletically. Woodville wins by 2+ scores.
