    Athleticism on the football field isn't based solely on the ability to run fast, as is the case in track. The facts are this though: Woodville is a better football team than Crockett. Zack Martin had only 4 carries the entire scrimmage. Damichael Brooks touched the ball 4 times as well. One of Woodville's scores was a PASS. If we're such a terrible passing team, then what does THAT tell you about YOUR secondary? Lol

    Crockett went 3-9 this past season. They surrendered 40+ points five times. Lost to Coldspring (16-22; who also lost to WV, 34-6), Madisonville (21-59; WV lost, 22-30), Corrigan-Camden (21-22), and Hemphill (32-34). Not to mention the other blowout losses to Rusk (6-41), Diboll (16-54), Newton (8-71, and Garrison (26-41).

    I'm not really sure why you think Crockett has given you any reason to think they're a powerhouse or even a Tier-1 team in Region 3. I hope they succeed because I do have family and friends from Crockett. Good luck!!

  2. I heard it was a little between both of the first two original viewpoints stated. Crockett is a good football team and should be better than last year. I think they'll compete for 2nd in their district. I do not, however, think they're as athletic or as talented (excluding the QB and DE) as Woodville. You're an idiot if you think Woodville's district is the weakest in the division. Look at District 1 and tell me that again. EC and OF will both be better than average this year. Much better than the district Woodville competed in last year. Just listen to the Lonestar Gridiron 3A-D1 Big Arse Preview Show. They'll give you a good view of what will happen if we meet in the playoffs buddy. Lol

    "Large margin"?

    "easily the favorite"?

    Sorry, not this year, LOL. This will likely be the best team EC has put on the feild in the past 10 years.

    I still stand by my first statement bout Martin being the best player on either team. At the same time, it is but merely an opinion. When I say Woodville is easily  the favorite to win this district, it's not a knock on EC, who will undeniably compete for the title this year. Don't misunderstand me. The Bucs will be better than any district opponent we faced last year and give us a reason to worry. This is also probably the best team Woodville has fielded in the last 10 years lol looking forward to a great game!

    Yes Woodville returns a few starters but trying to replace 8 starters including the fastest in district C J Wooten including most of the defensive line and half the linebackers and secondary with freshman and sophomores will be a challenge

    Martin ran a 4.41 40 at TCU. I don't think CJ was anywhere near the threat that Zack is. A big loss, of course. But we return 1 DE, 2 OLB, 1 MLB, 1 CB, and 1 FS. All 6 of which recieved district honors. That's not too shabby lol and the players replacing them have alot of talent as well. We even return our kicker lol

  5. Woodville returns 7 starters on offense, including their entire backfield. They also return 4 starting linemen. RB/FS Zack Martin is better than any player EC can field by a large margin, sporting his unanimous MVP selection from last year. The defense returns 6 starters, including reigning Defensive MVP, MLB/FB Marcos Broom.

    This is a team that was beating defending state champion Rockdale after 3 quarters in the 2nd round. Unless somethinghas drastically changed that I'm unaware of, they will be a tough cookie for EC to chew... and then some. EC has a great program and will no doubt be a tough game for the Eagles, as they always are, but Woodville is easily the favorite in this district after back-to-back district titles.

    From my count over the last four years it has fallen off greatly.  These are the numbers reported to me through this site.

    2014 = 229 hr’s

    2015 = 156 hr’s

    2016 = 146 hr’s

    2017 = 121 hr’s

    I didn't know it was that bad. Geez. Looks like BBCOR regulations have made highschool kids learn to actually swing with technique to develop power instead of relying solely on the bat.

    Coach Robinson took the game thinking that he would be in a 6 team district.  The UIL wrecked that one.

    It impressed me that he scheduled the game, considering most teams seem to be casually avoiding a matchup with Newton this year. It shows me that his eyes are set much higher than a district championship. How was HJ last year?

    Woodville:

    Wk1 - Little Cypress-Mauriceville

    Wk2 - Madisonville

    Wk3 - Hardin-Jefferson

    Woodville had agreed to a Week 4 game with Newton, but had to drop that game due to 12-3A-I having 8 teams in the district which meant that Woodville had only 3 non-district games available.

    I hate that we had to cancel. We needed a game like that against a powerhouse before district and the playoffs. Nonetheless, I'm still pleased with our non-district schedule.

    I just think EC will be a better balanced team .

    I actually agree with you. They will be able to throw the ball better than we can, based on last year's evidence. I just don't see them stopping our backfield behind the offensive line we're brining back. I may be wrong. Definitely wouldn't be the first time. I know one thing for sure though; I'm much more excited about the competition in this district than I was last year's. Lol

    I agree with aTm on this one we must find someone who can spin a ball, and we do have several who can. So putting the right person there will be no problem , can’t worry about hurt feelings. Just do what is right for the team.

    I'm not disagreeing with that at all, trust me. That is a very true statement. I just think our rushing attack, along with our defense, are both good enough to beat out EC and the rest of this district. Area Round playoffs and beyond is a whole different topic, as we all have learned over the last two years lol

    What about QB? Because that’s is Woodvilles weakness

    As far as I'm aware, the same QB will start this fall. I wouldn't say he has been a weakness. I'd say say the lack of diversity on offense has been the weakness. He did a good job at managing the offense and doing what he was asked to do. It's hard to learn to become a gunslinger if your offense gives you little-to-no opportunity to learn how to do so.

    QB, RB, RB, OC, OG, OG, OT, TE returning on offense.

    DE, OLB, OLB, MLB, MLB, C, S returning on defense.
