After seeing Woodville, my opinion has changed a little. They looked pretty good. If Kirbyville doesn't get it straight, they may mess around and end up in fifth place in this district.
 2.
I'm glad the kid finally made a choice. And appears to be a good one. UT recruited him to be an athlete and I think he will be a great pickup at corner for them.
I keep reading slot receiver/safety/special teams.
 3. Highly recruited Newton running back, Kevin Shorter, has committed to play football for the University of Texas next year, via his Twitter account. per The Bleacher Report
 4. Woodville/Huntington/Hemphill: This was a very physical, tough scrimmage. Woodville dominated it for the most part. Though Hemphill and Huntington had several good drives and scoring plays. Woodville looked very good for a young team that most believe is on a down year. QB, Marqui Jackson, looked very good. As did returning running back, Phillip Noble. The line was a little shaky, but had some bright spots. The defense looked great. D-ends and outside linebackers dominated from the defensive side of the ball. Overall, a very efficient scrimmage for Woodville. Hemphill had a tough time running the ball, but completed several long passes for scores. Their line has aloooot of work to do before week zero. The defense was just outsized by Woodville and out worked by Huntington. Huntington's defense was the bright spot of the scrimmage for them. They were very aggressive and physical on defense. The athleticism isn't there yet, but they'll work as hard as anyone. On the offensive side of the ball, try seemed to have alot of problems running their new double-wing style offense. Alot of mental mistakes and not many bright spots.

I would rather Newton stay in the D1 of the new 3A, but not sure if the numbers aren't there. Do you have to drop to D2?
Not 100% sure, but if I had to guess...I'd say no. Once the UIL decides something, it's usually set-in-stone. Much like the dictatorship that is the NCAA. lol
 6.
why on earth would you punish a kid for wanting to play? If he missed the offseason and it affected his progress, then other players will take his playing time anyway...  If he missed the off season , but is still able to contribute, it would seem you would want that player contributing.. These are teens that have alot going on...and arent sure what they want day to day...  To often, blanket rules get put in place... Each situation is different and must be viewed differently.
I think he's moreless referring to a kid who was in football, quit, and is trying to come back. He should have some conditioning to complete. But I don't think it should be implemented as a "punishment". It should be considered a make-up. And I also think a team vote should take place to promote a team atmosphere in the locker room.

EC and Kountze will be playing for the two hole. Like I say this is just all speculation. I watched Kountze in pads Friday and I was truly impressed and look forward to scrimmage this coming week!
Playing against your teammates doesn't tell you anything about how they'll perform under the Friday night lights. Kountze is much improved. But Newton and EC are locks. Kville has made the playoffs 3 of the last 5 years (including 2 state championship game appearances). Woodville has made it 3 of the last 5. Anahuac made it several years in a row before Barbay left. Kountze hasn't made it in I'm not sure how long, but not any time recently. Kountze has some talent. But they have some proving to do before I consider them one of the top teams in this very tough 2A district. Newton, EC, Kville, Woodville, Anahuac, and Kountze are all contenders. And Warren could make some noise. Although, I do agree that noone will touch Newton this year! Good luck to all the teams in the district this year! I plan on watching as many games as I can this year!
Warren make some noise?.. cmon I'm all about being positive but let's be real
But we're talking about a program who took a big step last last year, going 5-5. I don't believe they'll beat Newton, EC, Kville, Kountze, or Woodville. Maybe Anahuac. And they could put the pressure on one of the last three I named. They're in a rebuilding year. But they've got a good coach down there. And we all know that anything can happen on any given night in highschool football.

 12.
Can't wait for Kountze to shock everyone
And as soon as they do, they'll move right on up that list. Just gotta prove it first.
 13. Predictions?? 1. Newton (10-0)(7-0): -An obvious choice for the top spot in this district. They have the speed and coaching to make another serious run to the state championship. And having a 4-star running back in Kevin Shorter, that is being recruited by the entire SEC, doesn't hurt either. 2. EC (8-2)(6-1): -Had a young squad last year. They return several starters and I see them beating Kirbyville out for the second spot. Even with the loss of Glenn Roberts, this team still has alot of speed and size returning. 3. Kirbyville (7-3)(4-3): -Kville lost alot of talent on offense this year, but will returning alot of young talent on defense. I could see them falling as low as fifth in this district if they can't get their offense straight. 4. Woodville (6-4)(4-3): -Woodville also lost alot of talent to graduation this past year. But they are returning several starters on offense and defense, including multiple all-district picks from last year. The losses in the backfield have been accounted for. And the return of senior Phillip Noble to the Eagles backfield should prove to be beneficial to them this year. Overall, the Eagles will be in a rebuilding year, but they have a chance to make some noise in this district. I see them being as high as third and as low as fifth in this district. 5. Kountze (6-4)(3-4): -Kountze returns a boatload of talent this year. They are returning alot of sore and size on the offensive side of the ball. The key for them is discipline on both sides. If they get that taken care, they could rise as high as third. If they don't, I see them staying right here in that fifth spot. 6. Anahuac (4-6)(2-5): -Anahuac will, yet again, be down from the usual playoff contender we've been missing the pad few years. They return some speed, but very little size and experience. If the coaching is there, this team could have an opportunity to ruin playoff chances for one of the top teams in this district.  7. Warren (4-6)(1-6): -After an exceptional year last year, the Warriors will be down this year. Losing your quarterback, receiving corp, starting tightend, and several lineman doesn't improve your team. Although I have been very impressed with the coaching change in Warren. They have a rebuilding year this year, and I believe they will make alot of noise here in the next couple of years. 8. Hardin (2-8)(0-7): -I don't see much chance of improvement from Hardin. The kids work hard an play harder, but I just simply don't see the talent there. Coach Fortune will do what he can to improve an rebuild this program to be successful as soon as possible. But I don't see it happening this year, unfortunately.

Possibly 7-3 if Normangee comes to play. I have them beating Hardin, Groveton, Deweyville, HSH, Normangee, West Hardin, Iola, and Colmesneil. I have a close loss to Kountze and I see them getting beaten by 10-20 points by a VERY good Lovelady team. District champs and I see them making a decent run in the playoffs until they meet a powerhouse.
The kountze game won't be close..cmon man lol
Being that it's at Kountze, you may be right lol but before I believe that Kountze will be a playoff contender, they'll have to prove it too me a little more than they did last year. They showed me that they're improved. But I'm not convinced that they'll be able to beat Kirbyville or Woodville. Those two teams are going to surprise a few people this year. They lost a lot of talent but have even more coming up. As does Kountze. Kountze just has a little more to prove. Hopefully they will! I like to see competition in what's already the best district in class 2A.

We all know that WOS is DBU, Defensive Back University.
Shaw has indeed enrolled at WO-S. The reason has not been determined. No word on if Center AD Goodwin signed off on Shaw or not but I am pretty certain he did. If that is the case (and I believe that to be) Shaw will have to sit out 15 days before he can suit up for the Mustangs. That would have him missing at least the first 2-3 games and maybe even the 4th game. If Goodwin did not sign off on Shaw (highly unlikely since Goodwin is a former WO-S coach, probably doesn't want to hinder Shaw's high school career and the transfer had nothing to do with athletics) then Shaw would have to play JV ball this year and play varsity next season since he is just a junior.
If he moved into the district, does it matter??
