[/quote] You should probably read posts before commenting. Either that or you just aren't capable of processing what's being posted. Smack talk is all part of it and I understand that. It comes from all sides. But I don't believe everyone is "taking a shot" at Vidor in regards to not giving them the respect they deserve. I said before the year started that 20-4A was a better district when Vidor is relevant. You can't please everyone and not every person is going to give certain teams respect, but I don't feel like I have said anything to take away what Vidor has accomplished. As for threads like this being started every year, I don't recall them, but that's a chicken and egg issue if that's the case. It's an observation and an inquiry. Not a reason to get all knotted up over. I like it when Vidor has a great team, it makes Nederland better win or lose. I can understand where they are coming from. 1st... people were saying that their first preseason games were not a test..cause you know those teams were not that good...but Clearbrooks gonna be a test...yep that will prove your worth. Well they dispatched that team hands down....and now thats being thrown back in their face to. But what do I know...I'm just a fan of a "Toilet Bowl" team whose season is down the tubes before it has even started.

Silsbee beat the other 20-4a teams they played...but couldn't beat us sorry Indians. What does that say about your team.

[/quote] I agree with all that you have said, my family and I have supported the Pirates since the late 80's.  Supported our Pirates even when every play Coach Law called was, up the middle, up the middle, pass, punt!  The fans even used to chant that during the games.  Coach Pat Murphy was a friend of ours and a good coach.  Mathews has been a great friend of my family's and has done some amazing things with the team and the program since taking over and even more so the past few years.  I remember when we were 5A and played the Houston school and used to get the crap beat out of us.  Good luck to all of our opposing teams this season and even greater luck to My Pirates!!  I hope to see us sweep the district this year.  ;D [/quote] Props for hanging in there, those were some tough years for Vidor. Mathews program is beginning to turn the corner...the kids believe in the system and are taught the offense from the Jr. high school level. Not having a winning season...been there to. We know all the ups and downs. Losing a preseason game to a better team is not going to make us stumble, but will only make us better. I Never get any work done during football season :D

We have only played 2 games with 1 lost...I wouldnt call that rolling backwards.

In recent history we have started out slow and picked up speed during the season and made playoffs. I think we will get it together this year. We did put up points on WOS. I think we have gotten spoiled by our stand out stars on the teams in the last couple of years. Coach Faircloth doesn't open the playbook in preseason...so we havent seen in spectacular plays yet. Some say we wouldnt be able to pull them off anyway...but we shall see.

I stay until Cherokee plays and the players head into the field house..or if we win..they stand in front of the stands and pump their helmets in the air. But you know the parking situation at the Reservation..its a traffic jam...so I can understand someone who has to be at work early or with small kids, wanting to beat the traffic. My family sleeps late on Saturdays...we got all night. ;D
