82 5A State Champs

So I've heard......man, back in the day, something like that would have never happened. You ALWAYS go to the game and support you team....NO EXCUSES!!! Not that it would have made much of a difference, but IMO, the band and drill team SHOULD have gone and supported the team. In fact, I can recall a game in 1989 when it rained at Delmar Stadium while playing Jack Yates HS. The band simply removed their uniforms, and marched the halftime show in shorts and t-shirts. Brass and percussion played, and the woodwinds hummed their parts. After halftime, the band loaded the busses and went home. BUT, they were there and supported our team. Very disappointing.

Now, Reyes fumbles....WF recovers at the 16 of West Brook.....3:30 left.....1st and 10....no gain....2nd and 10....gain of 2.....3rd and 8....stands very quiet......2 mins remaining......up the middle, gain of 3......false start for the Mustangs....thats #7 for them.....1:05 remaining.....

....gain of 2....3rd and short for the Mustangs....announcers ragging on WB coaches for letting 40 or more players sit down on the bench......loss of 1 after 1st down......waiting on them to score again......gain of 1....3rd and goal from the 10....WF has a sophomore QB in the game.....4:30 left.....fumble...WB football at the 7 yard line. Reyes and Cooper back in there.....Cooper to the 15, gain of 8

WB to kick....WF return to the Bruin 35......8:15 remaining 67-35 WF......WF to the 19, gain of 6....they're gonna score AGAIN!!!! They make it seen effortless.......to the 10......TO WF.....

Bruins back to receive....10 mins left in the game......scuffle again......Reyes to pass....Cooper to the 23 yard line, gain of 47 yards......Reyes keeps it....flag...no gain on the play....holding against the Bruins......-10 yards.....1st and 20 from the WF 38......10 yards on the play by Cooper

WF 1st and 10 from their own 48.......TD WF!!!! 52 yard run for Jenkins.....missed extra point(like it matters).....67-29 WF!

WF fumble....Bruins recovered and take over at the 43. 1st down Bruins....loss of 11.....2nd and 22.....gain of 7.....3rd and 16.....incomplete......Bruins punt.

Westfield 61 West Brook 29 END OF THIRD!

TD Bruins.....2 point conv. GOOD! WF 61 WB 29! This game is definitely a learning experience for our boys. We'll be OK when district starts.

Its not that WB is 'not very good' as you say. Its a number of things in this game. Westfield is a very good football team, and several of our OLinemen are out with illness. Not making excuses, because I believe even if we're healthy we still dont beat this team. We're still very young, and have alot of maturing to do. We know we wont beat Katy, but alot of teams dont beat Katy. Central is a very good football team, beating them was not easy. Obviously, Central is no Westfield. We will be ok.......we will be very good next year.

Yep, this is the most points allowed by a West Brook team in school history. The previous was 56 points that was put up by Baytown Lee in 1999 in a 56-7 loss by the Bruins. WOW!

I'm going to check, but I dont think anybody has ever scored this many points on West Brook before.....EVER!
