I was just about to report this post for vulgarity, but thought it wiser to just be thankful and mind my own business. đ¤Łđđ¤Ł

Weâve been back and forth between D1 and D2 a few times. Truth be told, weâre a better fit as a school in D1. Our band and drill team are bigger than most D1 schools, plus we travel well. Weâll be fine wherever we end up.

Itâs not a good insult to say âBC took the easy way out by opting up to whip our tails and go three rounds.â

Itâs just a weak mindset. If you asked the PNG community if theyâd rather go four rounds with 3rd or 4th generation Indians, or instead take transient talent from anywhere and proudly proclaim themselves the âMECCAâ just to win against their crosstown rivals and even get another ringâŚ. Theyâd be Faithful. ButâŚ. For my friends from DTX. A house built on shifting sand doesnât last forever. In a few short years the winds will shift and all of that âtalentâ wonât be suiting up for SOC. Theyâll be on to the next big thing. It happens over and over, and youâre nothing special. In a few years people will be asking âdo you remember when SOC was good? What ever happened to them?â -

Itâs not about demographics. Itâs about stacking teams. And itâs currently within the rules, which is unfortunate to teams who donât have the the ability to consolidate the athletes from six high 5a high schools onto onto one team, but still play 5a D2 football against teams who donât have the ability to consolidate players to a single team. Itâs just not anything to be proud of⌠thatâs all Iâm saying. How did TJ, Lincoln and SFA stack up against the Indians back in the day, before they consolidated into PAM? -

Youâre missing my point. If a Golden Triangle school could pull athletes from the entire Jefferson/Orange/Hardin County area while still maintaining a 5A D2 sized enrollment, theyâd be competitive, if not beat SOC. The athletes would be comparable, but facilities, community support, coaching, etc would outdo what SOC can offer. But geographically itâs not possible here in SETX, but it is possible in Dallas because the attendance zone is smaller in geographic size. The situation isnât wrong, but itâs not really fair, either. But using a magnet or charter system to form a super team, then being proud of the fact you beat teams who arenât able to consolidate athletes from a 6 school attendance zone isnât anything to be proud of. ExampleâŚ. Our local youth football league (STJFL) takes on all players, then fields teams accordingly. Some cities like ours (population 8,000) would field two teams for each age range because that many kids signed up. Then you have one of our neighbors (population 50,000) put together a single team. They hold tryouts, cut kids, etcâŚ. Itâs a select team. If your select team drawn from a pool of 1300 kids is beating the 30 kids assigned to a team from a pool of 90 kids⌠itâs nothing to be proud of. But I think itâs a flaw that isnât seen as a flaw in some communities. But yâall have recruited another fine team this year. Congratulations on your âwin.â -

Any team pulling from a population zone whose size matched the zone that SOC pulls from would be equally stout, if not more so. Itâs the reason that Newton canât compete with Allen. When you have 300 kids to pick from, you get a certain level of talent⌠if youâve got 15,000 kids to pick from, youâre going to end up with a team that wears out teams who have 2200 kids to pick from. Thatâs not coaching, thatâs not talent⌠theyâre not breaking the rules, itâs just not something to be proud of. -

Itâs comical to me when places recruit a super team then feel pride despite the fact that they couldnât win with the talent they had on hand. Especially when you think what would happen if schools like PNG were willing to ignore the rules with all of the resources at their disposal. Iâd rather lose with our kids that grew up here than win with some kids who stopped here for part of a season. -
Does your team have a game thread for their matchup today? đđ¤Łđ

Letâs be honest. LCM quit.
-
Well⌠our kids are gonna pile onto a couple of buses and head over to New Caney. When they get there, theyâre gonna put on the red and white, bite down on their mouthpieces, and get after Kilgore for 48 minutes. Itâs a game that nobody expects BC to winâŚ. Heck, most people are predicting a blowout. But I donât think so. Itâs a chance to see how we stack up against the best- if you ask me, this is the true state championship game. Whoever wins this one should have a cakewalk on through to Jerry World.

There was an even better one â09-ish that caught Coldspring in the first round when CS was really good. We lost one of the defensive ends tonight, plus my understanding is that Breeden was a maybe, but suited upâŚ. But not at 100 percent. We werenât as dominant as we have been-didnât get a lot of pressure on their qb. I didnât see spending much time in their backfield at all. Good game, but we left the door open for them to come back and make it a game. To their credit, Nav didnât give up, even when down by 3 tds in the third. I felt like we got a little conservative in the same stretch, but up by 3tds, you should. Nav just didnât roll over like they were suooosed to. *im supposed to mention that #68 in blue was a class act after the game. -

Cards receive to start the second half. -
I think Livingston got less hate when they got caught fudging their numbers so they could play down a division. The difference is that they werenât going to beat anybody in either division, while we broke records and hurt feelings.
-
The lone blemish on our record came from a game in which our opponents were punished for cheating. Did it cost us the win? I think so, but who cares? But itâs definitely âasterisk worthy.â Why did we move up? I donât know⌠youâd have to ask the AD/HC who made that decision-and heâs not in BC anymore. Last I heard he was pimping snocones outside the XYZ gate at Motiva. Iâve given my reasons why I think the move makes SOME sense, but thatâs just my opinion. But only a hater would see a school opting UP to face larger schools, then winning district, then notching a playoff win a division above their attendance-based classification as a bad thing.

Nice job OF⌠They might have beat you, but you gave âem what you had. Way to represent. -
I think as long as Fedora is calling the plays, you have to pick Navasota. Heck of a Coach.
-
Yeah⌠thatâs us, broâŚeverybody else from 10-4A D1 has been eliminated. Itâs us against the world AverageJoeâŚ. We opt up to play larger schools and thatâs ârunning from competition.â We beat schools in our district and thatâs âbullyingâ those bigger schools. Everybody picks Chapell Hill to beat us, but when we knock them off, itâs âoh, CH isnât CH this year.â We opted up a division, went 9-1 in the regular season, with that lone loss being the result of cheating that resulted in our opponent being punished by the UIL. We won our district. Then we won a playoff game against an opponent that everyone agreed was going to smoke us down. But somehow weâre the bad guys. If think BC has earned some respect this year, and if yâall donât feel that way, we donât care. Weâre going to support our kids and recognize and defend what theyâve accomplished, whether yâall do or not. And I wonât apologize if that rubs you the wrong way.
-
Kilgore better worry about the second round.
-
PNG also has an undefeated record. 5 of their opponents they faced this year ended up with losing records.. only five had winning records. And PNG didn't opt up a division, either. I donât get your point. What could we have done to dominate more?
