  1. HJ will play (Sr. Division), although I just lost my QB to a clavicle fracture.....Playoffs, Playoffs, are you kidding me playoffs......(in my best Jim Mora voice)
  2. I believe the Lone Star teams have "accepted" the challenge in the past, and it has worked out well.
  3. Bang up job by the Lone Star Ref's this year (as usual). Hats off to Chris and his crew. We appreciate you guys Rich
  4. I think the point being made is character and sportsmanship is not taught by a coach 2 days a week, it is taught by a family 7 days a week. If I heard my son cuss or disrespect a coach, other player, or fan the only worry the coach would have is beating me to yanking him off of the field. I went on this rant before so I will make it short and sweet. I do not care if every kid, coach, fan and official are cussing like sailors on a 3 day R&R this would not give my son the right to do it. As an umpire, for more years than I care to mention you always see the parents who teach their kid, "It is someone elses Fault" the umpire blew it, the refs hate your team, the coach doesnt like you yadda yadda. Fact is, its little league, It will not and never will be fair and sound proof because we are all human and human nature teaches to protect your own. So let them play and the cream will rise to the top, and the should have beens and never wheres will fall to the bottom. Which is why you see a lot of "studs" in little league that you never hear from or see again after about 7th or 8th grade.
  5. Hmmmm yet you know his first name in the title of the post...????
  6. I think as a coach you have to take every oppurtunity to not only mold athletes, but also character. Show the kids that standing up for something is a good thing.
  7. Several of our past and present player's families have been affected by breast cancer so we go out of our way to show support.
  8. Teams don't forget October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Strike Force Sports in Lumberton was very helpful for my team last year for Breast Cancer Awareness Socks for our team...Just a suggestion.
  9. on a side note, looking at the forecast we may be in the high 80's or low 90s for this weekend's games with a high chance of rain. rain    (rn) KEY  NOUN:Water condensed from atmospheric vapor and falling in drops. A fall of such water; a rainstorm. The descent of such water. Rainy weather. rains A rainy season.
  10. Ice you must come up with some new material....shish boom bah went out years ago....come on man keep up with your cheering current events.....
  11. Sorry but I have to laugh at Tragichippies abrupt honesty
  12. Good to see a Beaumont team getting picked as a favorite. Those guys have been working hard over there.
  13. Yes it is not like everyone hasnt heard. I have heard from one extreme to the other and figure the truth is somewhere in the middle. I coached for Beaumont the first year and we (and I stress we with me included) made some "rookie" mistakes also. I think it is expected to happen with the formation of a new team, the best thing is to learn from it and try and prevent it from happening again.
  14. Most of you know me on here was not trying to stir crap was just wondering where the breakdown (IF there was a breakdown) stemmed from.
  15. Ok...was a simple question, figured it would be better to ask the truth on here as oppossed to hearing all the rumors out there.......was just wondering if it was a lack of communication, or if the coaches in PA needed some assitants in learning the proper ways of certifying, I know from experience it can be a very confussing process.
  16. I heard a rumour that the PA Titans had no paperwork for any player at the certification. I heard they will be allowed to participate during the season but not the playoffs. Just seeing if this is true and where the ball was dropped (pardon the pun).
  17. There is a good segment on MSN running today on general lack of "practicing in the heat" policy by the governing boards of most little league football organizations. I was just talking to my fellow coaches last night on our policy which is break early break often for water. How does your coaches and or league handle it. By the way a total of 8 players and coaches have died this year in TEXAS alone.
  18. Well the HJ Seniors are young but look decent, yep hippie definitely tell who has been hitting Xbox and icebox.
  19.     With the new season upon us I wanted to repost this from last years game between the Super Bowl winners of STJFL and Lone Star. I would love to see this carried on this year and would love to see some sponser ship from both leagues towards the game and what it came to stand for last year. I personally helped deliver the benefits of this game to this family and I can tell you there was not a dry eye in the room. I will be more than glad to participate wether my team is involved or not, and I think it would be wonderful to see more teams involved with what I think could become one of the best traditions set for both of our leagues. 3 children (girl aged 4 and 2 boys aged 7 and 9) will have a Merry Christmas this year thanks to the sportsmanship and generosity of the STJFL/Lonestar youth football leagues. The money raised from our concession combined with a couple of donations I had from private individuals towards this football project was enough that these children will have a GREAT Christmas and the parents will have plenty of food on the table for the holiday season. My friends this is what sportsmanship is all about.   I think this turned out better than my HJ coaches, and the Bridge City coaches expected, and would love to see it become a holiday tradition. Thank you to all who participated Richard Morreale
  20. Yes our numbers are way up in flag, jr, and sr....amazing what a couple of Super Bowl wins will do......did I mention we won the Super Bowl????? Ok let the ripping begin....LOL
  21. Mo only had 23 last year, with no waiting list. Numbers are up in HJ this year we have about 30 on the Sr. team (now of course that is before we strap the gear on and all of us coaches know what happens after little Johnny takes his first pop of his lifetime. We are young this year I only have 6 returners but we will give it a good run. I am in for Friday if it is set, looking forward to meeting some of you guys. I dont need to meet Scalpem I will see him at the next family reunion
  22. I agree Hornsfan, let them try all the sports then decide what they want to play. I have found that when my 3 older ones started football it gave them the confidence to be more aggressive in other sports it has really helped my 13 year old playing low post in basketball
  23. I was wondering since their Little League Baseball is called Bryan Harvey, is their softball called Lisa Susan???? Come on back in it tonight West End...
  24. Let me think about it, Wings, Beer, Football talk, Heck I am in......
  25. What does Lightning bugs, Leaves changing color, snow flakes, swim suits, and Thetragichippy have in commen????? Seeing any of them let you know a new season is upon us......it must be football season because I see tragichippy posts...
