If Reyes's is back, 35-17 Brook.
Exactly why WB isnt considered a power "If Reyes is Back"....Is it the Beaumont West Brook Reyes' or the West Brook Bruins? Does the rest of the TEAM not matter?
I keep seeing this cr@p.   How did Katy do when they pulled their starting QB?
considerably well against Brooks first team defense.....Offense was still the same when he got in....pretty sure the offense would be the same if he had to start the next game....pretty sure the offense would be the same if #22 couldnt start the next game......one player won't make or break Katy.
Did they score with the backup in?   You act like losing your starting QB is no big deal.  That's just silly.  Think Abilene wins a title last year if their starter goes down.   One man doesn't make a team, but the QB position is the hardest to replace.
Offense should make the player, Player shouldnt make the offense.....until that changes, West Brook wont get over the hump. PAM and North Shore wont call off the dogs 2nd possesion of the 2nd half like Katy did.....game was OVER when the second QB, Second line and 3rd RB got in the game...kudos to West Brook for keeping THEM out of the endzone. Losing a starting QB IS a big deal when he is the ONLY offense you have...remember the RB from Katy missed all of the regular season last year with a broken leg, the QB got his FIRST START as a sophomore in the state semifinals......some coaches take a player and build an offense around that single player...everyonce in awhile you get a Vince Young and it works.....other coaches build a SYSTEM and then build around the system.....if you drive a racecar and have a flat, you change the tire and you still have a racing car..that's Katy.....if you have a racecar and blow then engine, and replace it with a regular engine.....its not a racecar  anymore...that was West Brook yesterday.....it was a ford pinto with racing stripes and fat tires.....looked like a racecar....but no motor.

And sorry 82, back to the topic..
I say the Bruins bounce back but the Raiders play them close.....35-24 WB.

As you remember, I am a resident of Katy so in care for my brethren in Beaumont, I must warn you:

DO NOT NOT ANGER THE RED SEA!

WOS.....they should have listened to you.
What is that comment suppose to mean?
Means Katy was jacked for this game.
You know, before this game, I thought Brook was a complete team.  I didn't realize how much of the offense relys on this kid.    Nevertheless, he'll be back and while he's there they'll be fine.  He's part of the team, so what point are you trying to make?
Point I'm trying to make is...one player shouldnt make or break a TEAM......about 19 OTHER starters return from a team that went 3 rounds deep, there should be no "If Reyes play we win" type comments. The fact that the offense DOES rely on one kid is disturbing for West Brook.....Great Coaching will beat Talent 9 times out of 10....and right now WB seems to be focusing on Talent.....you can out talent the Ozen's, Centrals and Eisenhowers of the world, but not the top tier teams...

Yes, Brooks 1's(minus reyes) moved the ball well and got two scores against Katy's 3's and 4's. But Stump still gets game experience. West Brook cant be to reliant on a single player....as for Katy...you saw the same offense when the backups came in....they are a TEAM....WB had probably the most returning experience than any team in the state and just showed the rest of the state that if you stop Reyes, you stop West Brook.....West Brook stopped #22 for Katy, they brought in #28....Stopped #28, they used the FB....Stopped the FB, They went to the air....balance and depth...
your right PE...I hope to see ya'll in the playoffs...I think we will grow this in the season...and be ready for a rematch...with a healthier TEAM...
Beat Lee, get the confidence back......No shame in losing to Katy. Learn from it, thats what Non-district is for.

So it was 45-7 when the katy starters came out? Hum... Sounds like the Brook got Lucky that the coaches felt their 3-4 days of practice where enough before the game.

Thats a butt whooping any way you slice it. Now when people use words like lucky... i laugh. in the end Katy will be playing for a State Title and Brook will be at home, simply Katy doesn't need luck.

Also i remember a smart man saying Luck is when hard work and Opportunity meet.
35-7 at the half.....Katy receives kick to start the 3rd....run the same play they tried 4 times on the last drive of the 1st half......hits it for 68 yards, punched it in from the 1.....2 plays 69 yards 42-7...West Brook fumbles the ensuing kickoff....Katy ball, they try the SAME play 3 more times....kick a 43 yard fg and started playing everyone on the bench.

Good game brook ... Congrats to katy on the win.. I'm going say and be done with it katy got lucky plain and simple. WB is the real deal with bruce reyes this kid is amazing I'm proud to be a bruin. Time to get ready for next week GO GET 'EM BROOK.....
Look guys I hate to be a party pooper but I don't like the word lucky. Katy has been to too many playoffs, state games, and won many championships. I don't think that luck played a factor in Katy becoming the team that they are today.  Another thing I know is it sucks that your starting QB was hurt. But the QB didn't have anything to do with Katy putting up 45 points, that was WB defense! With Reyes in there or not those points would have been still there. Yeah if Reyes was in there it might have had WB put up a couple of more points. But by the second half it would have been all Katy.  That's how Katy works they wear down their opponents, the defense causes fumbles, and in the second half make the adjustments neccesary to win their games. This is not luck because it happens to alot of other teams as well.  Look what happen to North Shore.  Now North Shore is back to putting up big scores. This is how Katy works it didn't just happen to you it happens to every team that has played Katy. Katy has played at a different level of football for several years now. I know it seems like the fans are arrogant and they do alot of smack talking. But I guess you have to be a Katy fan who has watched the team play all it's games year after year to see and understand how unbelievable this team really is. Katy just beat three very good teams by 40 plus points in each game. You think that is luck?  I don't think it is and I don't think other schools in Houston would say that.
Katy gets no credit because they dont have "style" points.....you can't name a "stud" player.....they dont have a fancy offense....Katy is a machine.....if anyone is lucky, it's WB, Katy decided to have "practice" in the second half and not run their regular offense. They ran the same pass play over and over until they hit it and then took the starters out. They used a road game against the state's 6th rank team as a "practice".....
  9. Riding home, I was reading this board and saw some of the most comical statements ever..paraphrasing "Katy got lucky Reyes went out"..."Katy recruits, look at their black skill players, Woods(we dont have a player named Woods) was recruited" yadda yadda yadda....I had a long response typed up, but decided not to stoop to that level because I know those kinds of comments dont represent West Brook and Setxsports.com as a whole.

Now to the game....Just like last year, West Brook wasnt going to let Katy beat them with the run....that was a weird defense, what was it, a 4-5-2???? add that with the fact that Katy had a short field all night due to turnovers(a lot were forced), the stats werent too impressive. Now, if West Brook wants to be considered as one of the States elite.....they CAN'T rely that much on ONE player.....Reyes started off well, but it was just a matter of time before Katy made adjustments....Great TEAMS can't be so reliant on one player, there was a HUGE drop off once he went out. It was obvious Katy went vanilla and worked on some plays in "Game time situation" once the score got 35-7.......Katy could have scored 70 if they tried..2's and 3's were in the second series of the 3rd quarter. Pressure busts pipes, Pressure caused the first pick of the game, and when Reyes went out......WB's entire OFFENSE went out....that has to change before the Bruins can be taken serious as one of the regions Heavyweights.....The PAM and North Shore games arent gimmies. Bruins can either LEARN from this.....or go into a downward spiral.
    Great game.

This was a staph infection from a cut.  It has been treated, but will not play.

Not sure where you guys get the info from...but I think we should just stop feeding this information til everything is confirmed thru a higher source...Example:  Joe Blow has a broken leg.....joe will be out for at least six weeks....I say list the source and we can decide if it's credible or not...but I know... I wouldn't appreciate someone claiming my kid is injured, and he really isn't or vise versa(IT'S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS)...Just a suggestion...OR WE JUST SAY HE'S OUT, etc...just out of courtesy to the player and his family, because we may not know how extreme it may actually be.
Agreed, injury talk should stay off the boards..

I read on the 5A blog that they have 59 seniors, compared to Brook's 47 varsity players.   Can that be true?
I thought it was 69? Yes this is true. They will have anywhere from 80-95 players on the sidelines. Its quite impressive to see, actually. They have as many as three backups for EVERY position on the field. They win alot of their games by truition. They are able to stay alot fresher towards the end of the game when the other team is wearing down. This is what makes them such a second half team. That and, great coaching adjustments during halftime. I wish WB would adopt a philosophy similar to that. Imagine what we could do if we could keep 11 fresh sets of legs in the game for every series.

    Reasons we WIN
    1. Atheletes. Straight from the mouth of a tiger, "we don't have many D1 kids, just a good team". We we got a team and good atheletes. Try starting with our MVP QB and a potent receiver core. Then, go to a fast hard hitting defense. D1 prospects on both sides of the ball.

    2. We lay down the wood. If we will shoot our LBs every now and then (uncharacteristic) we can disrupt the interior running game. The yards IKE got was not a running game, BUT a jam up QB that can scramble. Katy will have to run up the middle. The edges will be shut down.

    3. Discipline. We will be the most disciplined team Katy has faced all year. No doubt.

    4. Running Game (X-Factor). Our O-Line will control their D-Line Mark it down!

We won't have refs that home cook. That's MID COUNTY Southeast texas not BMT. We can't BUY a call.

IN CLOSING, if we get our long field goal game and our fans in gear. We all DA SAME BABY. We both put the pants on one leg at a TIME!

Cinco Ranch does the same thing they ran a vanilla offense then all of a sudden they opened it up on clear springs, clear springs fought back though, West Brook will benifit wit this schedule unlike pam playing pansies every week
Thats what has me nervous, Katy has two wins over two good teams just running student body left, student body right and had two weeks to prepare for Brook.....they could open it up as well.
